Vana'diel Bestiary: Spook  

I dont know about you guys. But, I am absolutely appauled at the botters who camp this mob...lol call me insane but I spend the entire morning hours 12am to 7am camping this mob and there is always a botter. There is even a botter that logs on right before each pop, vokes it, kills it, then logs off until next pop and he even runs around to show he isn't botting...yah right...his bazaar quote says that he doesnt bot. But how come he can train all the bones to the tombstone and manage to get spook? I've seen botters outvoke charm and jump when those are supposedly slightly faster than voke. Is there anything SE can do about botters? I mean crebus jiest! I don't understand the lack of enforcement...can anyone give me a reason? To do so would be greatly appreciated ^_^

Who thinks this guy is way over camped for not beening a NM? I am on Diabolos server and there is always some serious botters. Because i was there one night camping trying to get the drop and there was a THF/BST there that was botting really bad he would move a little then he would stop move tope etc.. then move alot and run into a tree walk to a wall and turn around run to spawn Charm and then do the same exact thing over again. You can totally tell he was botting because it was the same movements and he would not talk he would only walk and for that period of time that he was tehre camping he was the only one because he would get the spook every single time so people just stopped camping him and i guess one day he got kicked or he decided to leave or something because he never came back since then. Diabolos MNK33/WAR16 I WANT EXP!!

Ive been taking a break from the spook because of drop rate being lowered, i still farmed for acsetic rings in ramps tomb which go for 1.5k well i got bored and decinded to camp spook, when i got there some stupid person examinined me a lvl 32 thf/war and tells me im too weak then says she will get a lvl 70 spawn to kill everyone if i didnt leave, she must have though i was a noob because i know its not possible to get a 70+ mob up to the tomb anyways so i sit around and i get all 3 spook spawns and 2 travelers mantles. once it was over asked where the "70+ mob" was and she just fumed and logged.

a word of advice, if ur gonna make up a lie to scare a noob away make SURE they are a NOOB!

i went to camp this thing and there was a 50drg/war camping it (ovious voke bot) he did the same thing every time>>>>> target>> voke>>> engage>>> jump>>> walk back to exact same spot he was standing in>>>> and say "nope" like he didnt get the drop. over and over and over >.<

The Spook is a very sought after mob. It is NOT a Notorious Monster, however. It is simply a monster which drops a piece of equipment rare and worth alot of gil. The Spook is my way of income in Fairy World. Whenever I need to make gil for anything, I wait until one of my many off days from work to camp the spook. I wake up early in the morning, and decide I am going to camp the Spook non-stop, each Vana 'diel night until I obtain the Traveler's Mantle. First off, YES their are botters on this mob as you all guessed. YES their are those who ALWAYS camp this mob. However, everyone is entitled to do as they please as long as it does not violate PlayOnline Rules and Policies. Their is nowhere in the rules stating anyone is entitled to camp the Spook a certain amount of times before they can no longer camp it.

If you are not satisfied with alot of competition, try another method of making income. By the way, it is not unfair for a player to continuously camp the Spook for their income. Many people have posted complaints to those who always pull the Spook. It is a fact, as a player progresses through the game, Equipment becomes more and more expensive to purchase. At low levels, players are meant to level. At higher levels, farming, camping Notorious Monsters, and raising gil for Equipment becomes a necessity. Therefore, lower level players do not need gil as much as the higher level players do. Everyone is entitled to gil, but I believe the higher levels are entitled to gil over the lower levels, and any higher level will agree with me.

The drop rate on this mob has been nerfed. The drop rate use to be 1/5 on most consecutive spawn kills. Now the drop is 1/10 at the least. First of all, if their are any players who have a faster internet connection then you, or less lag the moment the Spook spawns, their console will draw the Spook's sprites faster then your console, giving them a chance to provoke the spook before you. If they are closer to the Server for the World you are in, this also applies.

It is no use getting upset over this mob. It just takes alot of paitence and time if you do not have alot of luck, or the TH/TH2 Job Traits. If you suspect someone is botting, don't even bother calling a [GM]. Nothing has ever been done about using a bot to camp the Spook. Their just isn't any way the [GM] can be for certain a player is truly botting.

The rumor Charm is faster then Provoke is false. Provoke, Charm, Envoke, Fast Cast, Chi Blast and any other instantaneous move is the same speed. The only thing which influences the these moves is your connection speed, and the distance your console is from the Server for your World. The closer your console is to the Server, the faster. If you are not willing to spend a large amount of time camping this mob, don't even bother since the mob is camped heavily. ~Spook~

Hi all me again....any one here have any bad luck with the drop rate lately? i know i have im not sure if its cuz my lvl is higher now or drops just got bad....see i used to 1/3 - 1/4 drop rate and i made about 100k almost everyday...well i stopped camping awhile and gained about 7 lvls i come back to hunt this thing and im here all week and havnt gotten a single drop im 0/24 on my losing streak and was wondering if anyone else had been experiencing the same thing?...not sure if its cuz of my lvl or if update made drop rate lower....any info would be appreciated

Ive gone there at least 10 times, and every time there are jp's there named zooej (random letters) and they always get it. pisses me off, but i feel like giving it a shot today.

Yeah! Fianlly got it! I woke up this morning and thought i'd try my luck at camping Spook , so there i was 18:00 no one was there.... i thought to myslef no way! But then someone comes around 19:00 and im thinking there we go thats more normal...
so it hits 20:00 and im waiting for the pop. There it is! i press Press Alt+2 (provoke) but for some reason it stalls, but the other person doesnt voke it, instead vokes a Skele, then i finally voke the Spook , kill it the Wammmm, "Travleing mantle", Then i find out that this guy is just look for Revival roots and didnt know what spook was, so i tell him and give him 2 roots, and thats the end of my story. -Marlar >>Happy Hunting<<

what is better for this? provoke or charm?

Finally got Spook tonight. Twice in the same Vana'diel night. First one no drop, but I was happy as that was the first time I got Spook. Second time I got Spook and it dropped the Traveler's Mantle! ^^ No Thief Subbed, I was using Beastmaster for Charm, and it worked. :)

Just wanna say this is a good source of money. I made 1.1 million gil in 1 week camping Spook (also killing Crypt Ghost/Goblin Gruel, chest hunting, and farming goblins/bat wings in between) and was able to buy Ochiudo's Kote, Leaping Boots, and Emperor's hairpin with the gil.

For those of you that are discouraged about not being able to get it, i have a few tips:

*Ask for parties with people that are fast enough to get it. There are people that are willing to do this...especially if you offer to check up on Crypt Ghost and Goblin Gruel while they're camping Spook.

*Spamming Charm/super jump is the fastest way. Everything else is up to your connection (and where those dang bones spawn). I personally use spam Charm and own most ppl...including jps (unless they're using charm as well).

*Spam block. It is considered dirty, and ppl WILL get pissed at you for doing it, but hey, it's not illegal. Pull in a bones or a goblin and stand in a spot where all the spammers will target that mob. they will either stay in their places and manual target, or they'll start running around trying to find a spot where they can spam w/o targetting your mob.

*Farm between spawns and camp the other two "good drop mobs" - crypt ghost and goblin gruel - and search for chests. Even without spook, the Tomb is an EXCELLENT place for farming decent items like bat wings, wild onions, cotton cloths, and ores. CG and GG aren't nearly as camped as spook, and they're spawn area gives a more fair playing field due to it's size. Chests give between 500-900 gil, can drop 2k gil precious stones, or 5k gil battle gloves. If spook is overcamped, just keep checking until there's less people.

I hope this helped all you ppl that are trying to make gil in KRT. If you need any help camping spook/cg/gg, i'd be happy to help. My name is Nikayama (40 samurai) and i'm currently on Titan...however i applied to emigrate and i'll be on the new server Remora by the time anyone reads this ^^

Note, We here in the US have a Lag to deal with versus JP, afterall the servers are located in Japan. Now this lag is substantial when you are hunting certain mobs and NM like spook, where spawn point is small.

The only way around this is to have better jobs with faster pulling abilites, or hunt another mob with larger spawn area and claim a smaller spot so if it spawns you have first chance to claim. But that requires alot of patience and time.

Another option is botting, if you read SE rules botting is not illegal if you are present at console. In other words, use the bot to pull with Provoke ability so fast it compensates for fast job abilities or your lag compared to competitors lag.

NOTE: Botting can get your account deleted so ALWAYS be present at console.

I will never camp Spook again. Midgardsormr server, there's three guys with major sticks in their gears. Two are Japanese, and always have the Spook claimed as soon as it appears on screen thanks to their 2 second headstart. They also like to harass and mock me when they pull it from beneath my nose. Yuug and his partner, both fully AF players, got over 50 Spooks in the time I was watching. I have YET to get the freaking drop.

Then, there's the idiot known as Yoshl, who when I explained my predicament of being quite poor to him, merely told me I should shut up, stop being lazy, and go farm... I try to farm, only people like him who snatch monsters too quickly and keep coming back everytime the spawn - get all the farming items, which is the only reason I turned to hunting NMs and other rare-item dropping monsters! Hypocrit, he talked so much about farming, yet he got six or so Spooks when I watched him.

Watch out for botters and jerkoffs like these.
