just a quick pole, on average, all of you who hunt spook regularily, how many nights (ingame time) do you usualy have to spend camping him before you get a drop? I realize i dont play as much as some people but i have spent 3-4 hours of the last 4 days camping him and i havent goten one drop, true i only managed to pull him 3 of those times but still, this is wearing on my patience.

I just camped him this morning, no one was there... i got all 3 claims and i also got the Mantle. So i dont know, i have TH1 maybe that helps a little. I wish you luck!

its all pretty random, but is affected by moon phases. sometimes u can get none in 6 hrs, sometimes u can get 3 in 2 hours. no definate drop rate. on average i would say maybe 1/4 or 6

yah, i had the same problem damascus. i am also on the pandemonium server, and i was campin spook this morning, and ult apears. i was able to twice pull it out from under his nose. i dont think hes a bot, becasue he talked to me in the little english he knows. yah, he even let me have one of the pops for some reason.... weird

Prancibald i know i can beat him sometimes if he gets a bones instead...but yes some times he seems afk...i needed to make gil to buy utsusemi ichi and needed one more mantle to go ult hadnt shown up yet and i got a mantle already earlier that morning...well ult shows up and im like $hit. well we wait till 23:30 and spook and bones spawn well i voked bones cuz it was closer and to my right was spook...ult didnt voke nothing. i switched target and attacked him manually i got him and got the drop =P well i think ult gave it to me becuase i was there everyday for the past week tryin to get 3 mantles. got last 2 on last day....I know ult isnt a bot becuase i talk to him with auto translate some. told him thanks for givin spook to me and said goodbye...well i got what i needed and now im gonna lvl my nin....happy hunting
wow this is funny, all u guys are like "this is the fastest way, job ablilities > provoke" and spam the X button. its funny cuz i look at the dates u guys are posting from, and it seems u just figured it out, i remember back in the day, i got every spawn cuz i and a couple other ppl on my server were the only ppl that knew about this trick, sheesh, now it looks like everybody knows! well i just wanted to say thanks for letting everybody know how to do it! u ppl that posted the secret just halved ur chances of getting spook again i hope u know that >.>

for those of you that spam X and enter but still dont get spook, I have a little secret that could get you a few spooks or more (Note: this will **** people off a lot) Ok so lets say theres a spammer and hes really fast. Wat you do is voke a weak mob and put it in his face. if hes a spamer he'll end up targeting the mob instead of spook leaving you to get it^^. before doing this ou must make sure that you cant see he mob yourself so you can spam safely. Hey im a 30thf and you can SA him i hunt him at 5:00am and when ult isnt there its just me...i use it to make him spawn three times....with SA i can defeat him in 3-4 hits SA being the first

You prolly can SA him, but it will never happen cause this thing has made many people rich. And everyone camps it...soo yougot like no chance, well give me a /tell sometime I'm Jomama on Ragnarok (the best server)

does this thing affect your connection coz when i see this damn thing pops infront of me i didnt even get a chance, they are just way to fast can sm1 tell me the ultimate secret on this mob

actually you can get this thing on PC also, set up this macro and spam it, and pray no crap mobs pop in front of u.

My name is Domascus and im on the pandemonium server...i used to have a real prob with spook cuz during the day there would be about 5-8ppl there all the time....so i started playing before i had to go to work at 5:00am...well this worked there was ussually about 1-2 other guys there so i can get him....well there this person named ult who has been showing up there everymorning and i mean everymorning...this person doesnt speak english but he gets the spook evertime even when im doing the provoke trick like you said...it still says target has already been claimed..this thing appears purple when it pops...i also see that normally about 7/10 mantles being sold are ults...no one ever beats this person...any ideas?

Well if he doesn't talk to you guys or have any form of communication you might be able to consider he is a BOT... Unlikely though...Or maybe it's your too slow...dunno what to tell ya

Ive been having problems with bots lately too on different NMs. Too bad Squenix wont do anything about them.
I dont find spook to be a worthwhile NM anymore... =\ Me and skynet tested the whole "connection better = first voke" thing and it holds true. Drop rate and this just makes this NM not worth it.

Well, I decided to camp spook today, I needed some cash. So, I get there, and I see the person who helped me out when I first started. I ask her if she wants to camp it with me (she's a rdm) and she says sure. So, she tells me where to stand, and when it's supposed to spawn, which provoke method to use, etc. I sit there waiting for 20:00, and we just chat about random stuff.
20:00 finally comes so I get ready to spam F8 and my provoke macro. It pops, I target it, I provoke it. We kill it, no drop unfortunately. I was so excited. The first time I decided to camp Spook for the mantle, I went along with a THF friend because we were farming in the tomb anyway (chests, ascetic rings, etc). Well, we get there and there is like 4-5 people there already waiting. We set up the usual macro (first time for me to use that particular macro, actually) and start waiting for the Spook.
I was actually waiting for the thing to fade in on screen before I "confirmed" the macro (pressing X on my PS2). Well, I managed to claim it as it popped almost right in front of me (which was lucky). No mantle, but we did get the cotton cloth - which later went to me by random distribution.
Then we wait for the next spawn. No go there as I had a Skeleton spawn in front of me and seeing only the club fade in, I thought it was the Spook. So I was killing the skele when the Spook -did- spawn and the THF didn't claim in time. We play around a bit waiting for the next round of spawns. NOTE: I actually have 2 macros now: a basic Provoke macro and the /targetnpc Provoke macro. Unfortunately, at the time they were on opposite ends of each other on the same list, so it is a minimum of 4 clicks to one from the other.
We come back and there are a ton of people now. I am totally resigned to not getting the Spook on either spawn time for this round. But I was having fun farming so it didn't bother me. There was a 50SAM standing, in my opinion, too far away at the back. There was also a 37-something standing close to the tombstone, but an appropriate distance away. I thought for sure, one of those two would get it. I still had the THF in my party, so it was kind of a 2-on-1-on-1 deal for the most part. The others there didn't pose a challenge before and would likely not pose one again.
I see the Spook fade in right in front of the 37 guy, and "confirm" the macro. Well, as it turns out, /targetnpc will also target inanimate objects such as ??? or Goblin Footprint or, yup - you guessed it - Tombstone. So my provoke obviously doens't work on an immobile, nonviolent rock leaving me with the only option of manually selecting the Spook then pressing L2, the directional pad 4 times to select my other macro (forgot the Ctrl+# combo), X.
And you know what - I got it! And you know what was better? I got the Mantle!!!! I was freaking out! Of course, I was partying with my THF friend still and I said we should Lot on it to speed up the process. I won that one too!!!
I could camp Spook all day, not claim him once and still would have fun. It's almost like a mini-game, trying to out claim other players.

I'm so happy! I was hunting spook for 3 days and finally got drop. I am now 1/20. Not the greatest record but hey, I am 30k richer now.

Im curretently 26/109 on this guy i no the secret to getting him the fastest even faster then charm.
Go to ablities then job ablities then voke rappidly spam x with the ps2 controller and enter on the keyboard at the same time its twice as fast as normal people. Hope this helps everyone out there

To you all that cannot get the drop I just wanted to say...I'm currently 8/13 on this spook...and I have made 180k off this thing and I'm generous so I do give people mantles...FOR FREE!!!! I you want some help /t Jomama on the Ragnarok server (Best Server) Ok!! O and stand like a foot away from the tomb if your spamming and you should have no problem ok see ya'll when i post for Crypt Ghost and my luck *cough* skill *cough* with him!!

with charms short range the spook is almost always the closest thing to u. I make about 200k a week on it since i dont camp it unless the competitions good. i let others make their money too. and yes if u kill the bones it does make it pop at 03:55-04:00. i have tested this theory personally numerous times

Ok, is that why I'm 3/7 on mine with a monk, yeah, that would explain it.
Anyways, I have gotten 3, and gave one to my friend, and if lower levels don't need money, then why do I need 30k alone to buy 2 beetle earings+1 and a spike neckless, thats one manlte.
Also my kingdom cesti 20k thats a little less than one mantle, and I owe my friend some cash, basically anyone can camp it, it doesn't really matter, and yes low level stuff costs money too.

for all of you ps2 users, i will now give up a secret that has been passed down through generations of spook hunters. sub THF or WAR... ideally, you want to have Treasure hunter, and provoke.

rapidly spam on the button, as if you were playing an old school shooter in an arcade. what this will do is provoke the closest thing that pops in your field of vision. generaly, it will voke it so fast, that in my experience, people will either send you angry tells or accuse you of botting.
you may read this and say, hmm, mogpirate, so what if something like an enchanted bones pops and i voke it by accident. admittedly, yes, this can happen. what you do, then... is round up all the enchanted bones that pop around the tombstone, and make SURE that they are killed only AFTER the lucky slob who has claimed the spook has dropped said spook.
in effect, this throws the respawn timers out of sync. the next spook that pops will effectively be the only thing that pops in the room. if you're spamming voke (or flash, or jump, or charm, or chi blast) you will almost certainly claim it for your own.
35k mantle on Ragnarok = gil in the bank, baby.
sell this **** in the jeuno AH.
FYI... 3 days of camping spook using this method, i had enough gil to buy a shiny new emperor's hairpin.

I'd recommend a high lvl thf or a thf with at least the Treasure Hunter abilitie 4 your main and Beastmaster for you'r sub....so thats lvl 15+ thf/lvl 1 Bst
o ya and 1 more thing killing the bones and bats that spawn at night DOES'NT effect the number of times a spook spawns!

Alright this guy has made me a master voker >< i get him at least once, normally 2 times, and if he spawns three i also get the pleasure of killing him... Im a blm male Taru, lvl 34.. I killed him twice and got the mantle... then i saw how many people were there with good records such as 3/10 and 4/12.. so i thought id camp him.. big mistake i just got back from killing him 18 times without one mantle. Anyone know why everyone has such good records and im on such a dry spell?

Hey im a lvl 20 THF and ive fought this thing a total of 8 times 4 times this thing has dropped, even twice in a row. i dont know why ppl say TH doesnt help until TH2 becuase it does. and i dont care what ppl say about low lvl ppl hunting this thing becuase im lvl20 and almost every peice of armor i need is 10k a piece
