I farm these alot the spawn time is every 10 minutes exactly after its death. they spawn to left of a mountain in middle of map kinda and along the trail that has trees along the fence. Yes you can steal wool from it but its very rare you will get it. Can drop Ram skins, Ram Horns, Earth Crystals, and Lanolin Cube for Jueno quest. If you see Lumbering Lambert i suggest your level is near 40 to kill it maybe a little under. Also people will pay you to join your party during fight for the Lumbering Horn. Sometimes they pay alot ^^.
I was a thf25/war12 when I tried to solo it. I used the orcs to build up tps then I used SA to start the battle... I did something like 120 dmg to it with SA. It hurted me for 30/35 dmg points each hit, me only 15/20 but I was near the victory SINCE HE PETRIFIED ME XP. The rest of the battle he used its WS and killed me. I wasn't able to run!!! Damn thing, I will take a revenge.
first time i saw him i wasn't of lvl to take him (lvl 12 RDM). so when im higher (lvl 27)me and a LS buddie go to farm wind elementals since we do it all the time we kill one 2 clusters. then we go to the next spot, kill it 1 cluster. So we're are on our way to the third place we kno elementals spawn. My LS buddies is ahead of me then he tells me he sees the ram. so i say wait for to get there nd fill up your MP. so we're a re both full MP and HP. after we were done farmin elementals we were goin to log(3a.m)so we engage it we had it to 3/4 health in 40 secs. so i decided im using my 2hr for fun (118 MP left). used 2hr (Chainspell) started to launch off fire after fire killed him within 23 sec.we got a ram skin, 2 horns, and a lanolin cube
if any one gets the lanolin cube and dont know what is for its for a quest in Jeuno you take it toRouliete in the catedral and the lady makes a candle which you give to ilumida she gives you a flower neaclace that sales for 1k in ramuh im just trowing this in good hunting guys good luck
When I first saw this Monster I was Amazed at how big this Freaking thing was. I got aggroed by one about a week later. I even saw a High Level Red Mage Get off their Chocobo just to kill one of these things. I once typed "/shout Battering Ram <pos>" and people came and killed it. Then they gave me 1000 gil.
He was really easy, i am a lvl 30monk/15samurai, it took only like 45 seconds to kill it, i have 701 life and when it meleed me it brought me down to 500-600 and then it used the attck that brings your life down to 150. he was easy, only had to rest 10 minutes afterwards.Purple][/Purple] Hope this helped!^_^
the first time i fought one of these rams i killed itpretty easy i was with a ls friend i was lvl 24 warr and my ls friend was 20rdm and we did away with it but the second yime i fought it i was by my self and all most lost cus less then half its life it did a attck that lowered my hp to very low from where it was at all ready and i was luckt enough to when i was all most dead one of my other ls friend cured me just in time(he loged on,which was like 5 feet from where i was fighting from).and it droped 6 skins and a horn i gave 3 to my ls friend.but after that now bering a snm i easy kill these rams off i have a lot of fun caming these rams wit my snm
I killed one for my first time as war/mnk either 23 or 24. The only thing to look out for is one of it's special attacks which significantly lowers your max hp. (from upper 400's down to 150 I think the one time it happened)
I am a lvl 33 WHM, who is not good in the melee/solo department as we all know. I ran into one of these, and I thought...hmmm, I wonder if i can take this. I cast stone skin, and a couple of banishes with a few swings of my staff and it was down. It was easy. I have heard these can do awful damage to people in the low 30's. My suggestion when fighting these is to cast stoneskin before you attack.....You can take a few hits and be ok. if you don't have stoneskin, cast blink or any other dmg absorb tactic. Atleast protect yourself enough to take a few hits while you get its hit points down to half.
Oh and the drops from this were great...I got 3 rams skins, 2 rams horns and 2 crystals. I don't think that will happen all the time. I got lucky on this one.
I ran into one of these on my way from Sandy to Bastok. I'm a 32 RDM/15 THF at the time, and I'm on a chocobo when I see it. Just for s&g's, I jump off my chocobo to kill it since I was so close to the Craig and I needed the crystal for teleports anyway. It checks easy prey so I just start swinging at it before anyone else in the vecinity might grab it. The thing gets me down to about 70% life in no time, and I have full Centurion gear, plus Protect II. Just before I drop the thing, it uses Max HP Down on me, and I drop to like 96hp. If he would have hit me three good times, or one critical plus one, I'd have been toast (I wasn't really Curing myself either, cause I thought I had him for sure, I mean, I was at 50% health and he was below 10%). So anyway, he bites the dust and drops 4 skins and 2 horns. Not sure if TH really has anything to do with it, but I'll take it. Then is was just a long run to Bastok.
I was headed out to see if I could make a faded crystal at tele-holla, when somebody starts yelling out if someone wants to fight it...i'm curious, but I don't see them, and keep going. a little furthur down the road i see it and some tiny WHM16 taru just standing there (the person who'd been shouting), it checks as even match, I invite the WHm, tell the to keep me alive and engage...it nearly kills me a few times, I get cure II'd....it dies, drops 3 Ram skins, a horn and a cube, but since me and the WHM are in a hurry, we lot. I got a ram skin, she got everythign else ;; at least she gave me another of the skins...
Well my friend is REAL big on NM hunting and we happened to be going to bastok on foot. We decided to stop and camp, just to see what kinda drops we got with a Lvl 19 RDM (me) and a Lvl 17 THF.
We did this for about 2 hours and decided to give up after someone metioned to us about the Eco-War that they were gonna do in Bastok.Off we went. When I became Lvl 26,heading to Sandy to do some woodworking I happened to be on my chocobo and heard loud, earth shaking movements.I looked around and finnaly locked on to "Battering Ram" and hopped off my chicken to fight it.Only 2 ram skins.
A week later I was coming back from Sandy on the chicken i was again and again heard loud shaking movements when in the distance i saw it and got off and attacked it. Got the Lanolin Cube and 2 ram horns and a ram skin.My friend came with me again to camp it again and we didnt have any luck... I guess my Chicken brings me luck :)
Im lvl 46 blm. It was no problem at all. I killed it 3 times first time I got 3 ram skins and a horn, second time got a horn and a ram skin, third time I got a horn and 2 ram skins. Too bad this stuff does not sell for more on ah .
I killed one of these for the first time the other day. I was looking to farm, so a LS buddy suggested to me to go to Jugner for tiger fangs. Me being the cheery guy that I am says to him "Well if I see a ram I'm gonna kill it!" I was RDM35/BLM17 (my main), so I knew that I wouldn't have any trouble. Armed with my trusty Royal Squire's Dagger and an ******* of en-elements, I merrily ran along the path when a ram just ran across the path in front of me. I quickly shot off Dia and engaged it.
First thing I did was cast Protect II just for safety. Enaero came next because I discovered that it stacks with Gust Slash for uber damage. The battle only lasted about a minute or so, got three skins, and nothing else. Made me feel good, and I wanted to kill another, but alas the next one was already snagged by the time I saw it.
The most fun about killing a ram is that you see all the n00bs start examining you. I must've gotten examined at least four times through the whole battle. A few more levels and AF1/Refresh later I'll go for Lambert.
I soloed this guy a level 19. It was a tough to me and I used hundred fists and dodge. It missed me about six times and hit me once for about sixty by then it was dead. The next day I was told you can't solo these untill level 25 or so. I quitely laughed and gave myself more reason why Monks rock.
Sorry about triple post page went blank when I post so I didn't know what happened. :P
generally when you think about what level you can solo something on, you dont assume ther person will be using their 2 hour. had you not used that, you would have died.
The spawn time for battering rams is not set by elemental conditions or by the day. I farm this almost everyday they spawn about 10-15 minutes after the last one is killed. For the most part the only mobs that have a spawn time based on weather are the elementals.
I saw two of these last night within 5 min of eachother! I'm a lvl 17 THF, and knew that I couldn't handle it alone, so I sent a shout on it's location and if anyone wanted it--- NO Replies... Then after about 5 min, I stood there and wached it dissapear!
oh well, 2x in 5 min, I hope I'm that lucky when I hit lvl 25!
