Contents [hide]

General Information

  • Will "Rage" sixty minutes after it is first engaged unless it is killed first or all players with hate are killed or leave the zone and King Behemoth's hp regenerates.

  • Physical attacks have an additional Stun effect that cannot be dispelled.

  • Grants title: Behemoth Dethroner

King Behemoth Special Attacks

  • Meteor: Strong AoE non-elemental Spell. (Circle of effect originates from spell target.)

  • Thunderbolt: AoE Thunder based damage with an additional stun effect.

    • King Behemoth often will begin casting Meteor after performing this tp move. Extremely large range.

  • Flame Armor: Blaze Spikes effect. (Effect can be dispelled.)

  • Howl: Warcry effect (Effect can be dispelled).

  • Wild Horn: Frontal cone AoE physical damage

  • Shock Wave: Frontal cone AoE physical damage with an additional knockback effect.

  • Kick Out: Massive single target physical damage.

    • King Behemoth will only utilize this ability if its primary target is attacking from behind.

Note: All AoE moves will hit -everyone- in range, regardless if they are in the alliance that has claimed King Behemoth or not.

Historical Information

The Behemoth first appears in the Book of Job, 40: 15-24, being described as a massive herbivorous creature that lives in swamps, with a tail that moves like a cedar tree and bones as hard as iron and brass. Several contemporary animals have been believed to have been the basis of the Behemoth legend, including the ox, the elephant, and the hippopotamus, though none fit the description perfectly.

It is said in Hebrew legend that, after the end of the world, the Behemoth will engage in a battle with the Leviathan and will kill one another. In alternate tellings of this legend, the Behemoth and the Leviathan will fight eachother, only to both be struck down by God.

My friend ran in as a level 1 beastmaster and watched the battle. Took many screenies, I'll ask him if he can post them here.

There was one crazy-uber PAL which must have had 100 million+ gil? (he betted 50 million on 3 million ring in the AH). Anyways, he was the ONLY tank on the king behe and there must have been like 4 parties of mages casting spells.

The PAL kept getting healed until finally he died! the mages scattered!!! it was soooo hilarious! The behe picked off the mages one by one, and the WHM were all raising. the King behe's Meteor spell is ownage. He chased a pt of mages into a corner, unleashed meteor hell. They all fell down. I could've swared all the mages had vermillion cloak...every single one. eventually the PAL was back in action, and another taru PAL joined him. They died again and the mages went scattering...again. The stupid part was that there were no other classes but mages and the 2-3 paladins...

My friend finally got the rare chance of the King behe not being targeted, and used Charm on it. Didnt get screenie though >< ... Instant aggro and he died. Eventually (roughly 2 hours). Never figured out what it dropped, but my friend really wanted the title. He also found a really rich JP, and i sent him a /tell. He's my friend now and gives me gil when needed. Love those JP players, they are so cool. Thanks Holy.

If my friend doesn't post up screenies, give him a /tell on Bahamut Server, and he'll probly email them to you. Happy hunting everyone, and if your bored run in as a lvl 1. ^^

"4 parties of mages casting spells"

Maximum alliance size is 3 parties.. how does this work? did they call for help or does king behemoth have dynamis-like rules?

You don't need to be in the alliace to heal them, could have a full alliance and a seperate PT of WHMs helping out.

I have some screens from when my LS was camping Behometh, but they are mainly of the King himself, not people fighting it (nothing that interesting). Rarely will anyone fight him straight up, mainly cause he hits damn hard, and one of his AOE sucks (it stuns >.<). The best way to beat the King is through a DOT fight. Have a BLM around to cast Bio 2 on him, and let that pick away at his health while the melee keep him from swallowing your BLM whole. This is why these fights take so long. ;)
hail to the king baby!

Yup, it takes anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours to kill. Me an a ls buddy decided to go see if there were any Behemoths home today. We were there for about two hours with no pop.

So I keep an eye on the area, and do searches every once in a while. I see a bunch of 75s start to gather, so I'm thinking hmmmmmm.

Talked to a NA 40something blm in the area who told us that the king had spawned and they were gathering an alliance to fight him.

He totally wiped them out the first time. Another alliance showed up, and helped with the support casting and whatnot, and it took them about two hours the second time to finish him off.

I was running around healing everyone the whole time. It was great fun. Me and my ls bud both died twice.

He DOES have an instant death attack, and it's AoE and he uses it frequently.

I managed to survive meteor once, it only did 300 or so. Then it started hitting level 75s for 1400+ hmmmmmm nasty.

Great fun though!

What a fight. Now I have some cool scrrenies to go over and decide what to save,

actually i did see a bst charm a behemoth. he was lvl 75, and he subbed a lvl 37 bard for the extra charisma, used familiar, then cast charm on the behemoth. he managed to keep it charmed for about ten seconds but then it wore off and it mauled him lol. still, it was cool seeing the behemoth charmed.

I do not believe an NM can be charmed but by the same token i doubt SE is going to allow you to charm one of the toughest HNMs to date. ^^

Feel free to try though, but avoid the instant death glare its ANNOYING ;_;

Don't be stupid. King Behemoth will answer to none! But if by "tame" you mean "get devoured by", then yes. King Behemoth has no qualms with devouring foolish beastmasters.

While messing around in Qufim (trying to farm Escape for one of my LS mates) a BLM friend of my told me about tons of people gathering in Behemoth's Domain.

On my arrival I witnessed a lvl 72THF get killed by the King Behemoth (3-5 hits tops). I am going to try and place his level at about 82-90.

I also collected some information for everyone ^^:
At the time of the battle: BLM47/SMN19
Defense 120, MND47, INT65, CHR 45

Comfirmed attacks:
Meteor- Ranged from about 1k-1.8k
Flame armor: Blaze Spikes
Thundershock (AOE): Huge aoe attack, (stuns) it was mostly resisted from the 70+ however it dealt me about 100+ damage
Knock Out- (The name says it all.. OUCH) dealt around 700+ damage which needless to say killed me.
Normal hit: 142 damage to a PLD75/WHM37. He seemed decked out in equipment, however i wasn't going to stop dodging the king to check ^^ *edit* Side note: the PLD was casting Stoneskin on himself before each meeting with the king */edit*

Maybe Attacks:
(Confirmed) Instant Death: I rec *edit2* Let me just confirm this, you die INSTANTLY, a lvl 70+ WHM and I just dropped dead with no damage dealt to either of us. So when you get ready to hunt this guy remember those Reraises ^^ */edit2*

Working Strategy:
Alliance of 70+:
Gravity, BioII, run around and hit him with debuffs and other spells.
Mostly saw the JP Alliance just running around hitting him with spells, no prolonged tanking was ever done as meteor happened fairly frequently to many players demise.

Damage dealt to the King:
FireIII- 53 damage
BlizzardIV: 874 damage
Spirits Within (PLD Attack):ranged from 300-688
Tachi: Gekko 1.1k damage
Summoners avatars were being used very effectively and quite often however due to death I couldn't get the damage =(

Notes about the battlefield:
You have light and thunder elementals that spawn on the field, and some bats wander about annoyingly.

Edits: Added battlefield information, confirmed an attack, and also added more damage to king information

A guy from my ls heard the king had popped and was about to be killed, so he went to watch as a 40 or so paladin. He fell victim to this attack, and was wondering how he was killed without taking any damage. The party that took him out was a full alliance of 75's, and it took them around half an hour.

While levelling my thief in Qufim I heard that King Behemoth had spawned and a lot of high-level (70+) JP players were fighting it. When my PT disbanded about 15 minutes later I changed to WHM47 and headed out to Behemoth's Dominion to watch.

When I got there an alliance was already fighting; they got King Behemoth down to about half health before it killed nearly everyone with some badly-timed Meteors.

Everyone withdrew, regrouped, and more ppl came in for a second assault. By the time the second group (appx 25 L70+ players, most from the same Linkshell) was ready, KB had regenned its health to full. After dying twice trying to watch the fight up close from the first assault, I stayed back and helped Cure up the wounded as they rotated through the lineup. When someone died or got badly wounded, they ran back to the tunnels and healed up while a fresh person took his or her place. It literally took

2.5 HOURS

to kill it. I kid you not--even with the best equipment, the most experienced players, and the highest level spells, every single member of the alliance-plus died at least once.

The final gathering around KB's corpse was quite a sight as well; it's too bad I didn't think of snapping a couple screenshots for my records ^^

-Halon//Phoenix

-- Just FYI, the Meteor spells it cast killed me in one shot - through Protect III, Shell II, Stoneskin, Blink, and 734 health. Nasty spell there!

hmmmmm.....KING behemoth killed in 2 minutes? I dont think so..
RE: he can be killed
# Feb 23 2004 at 2:48 AM Rating: Excellent
I don't buy 2 minutes or less.

I watched a full alliance + some fight it today. This thing can one-hit-kill any character with some of it's special attacks, and it's Meteor area-effect spell is enough to kill almost anyone in a very large area.

Since aggro = death, the alliance would tractor out the bodies, Raise III them, then they seemed to switch out the weakened person with someone who was sitting on the sidelines ready to go.

Using this strategy, I watched them fight it quite effectively for at least an hour before I had to log off. It is indeed killable, however. They had it to around 30% health when I had to leave.

Are you sure it wasn't a normal Behemoth that they were fighting? Because I don't see how ANY alliance, no matter how good, could possibly kill this thing in 2 minutes.

My friends have a good series of pics they took when they found steelwool, er steelfleece, aperantly you CAN pet him, but from behind, otherwise he insists you look tired and are in need of a quick power-nap. One of my freinds managed to literally smoosh into steelwool's nono bits regeon and you could barely see him ( O_O eep)I wish i was there to pet him.

Think more like this.... once they raise the level cap to 99 and you have a full alkiance of the best players in the game with awesome job combos.... you might bring him down to a critical levle before he snacks on your whms.... then steps on ur blms.... then sneezes on ur wars... then does a funny pose... then kills everythign else with a giant meteo.... s yeah level 49 would be a great level to tackle him at!

pld/war aren't good soloer's. In fact the only thing they ARE good for is tanking...

The best soloers in the game are BST/WHM and RDM/WAR. However, neither would hold a candle to this monster because it can kill them in one hit.

2 friends of mine and myself went out see if behemoth was poucing around in his 'dominion'. When we got there there was nothing to be seen except for the snow. Basically, just like Qufim.
Then he popped. I cast Sneak/Invisible/Deoderize on our SAM friend so he could get a closer look. Well, King Behemoth can see through all those spells and decided he didn't want his picture taken...Hit the samurai for 624 physical then cast meteor for about 1400+. Dead samurai...It was definitely worth it though. One of the coolest things I've seen so far. I recommend checking it out, just don't go near him. He's really mad at something.

heheh, I heard King Behemouth is practically undefeatable after the patch.

yes, they do use metero. My party went on a sight scene trip to the behemouth's domain. The lvl 52 Elvan Dragoon (the rest of us were ONLY 51) wanted to take a closer look at king behemouth. So the whm cast sneak and invise on him. He walked up to the KB to take a screen shot, and he did a /dance. As if that ticked him off, KB cast metero and KO'ed him for 1460 damage. The rest of us did a :O and fled the area.
