I killed it as a 35pld/15thf

dropped two coppers and one tin

I used two hour (probably didn't have to), and two melon juices.

The only problem I had was that he silenced me when he was down to about 1/4 - 1/8 hp. Finished the fight with 39/641 hp. Bought some echo drops for the next time, and I'll probably wait till 36 when I get my updated armor.

Killed him three more times yestreday at 39pld/15thf.

First time he dropped two tins and a copper.

Second time he dropped the tathlum, AND a darksteel!

Third time he dropped junk again (don't remember what).

At 39, he was crazy easy. However, my whm friend tried him at 40 today, and couldn't do ANY damage to him....
can i kill it

Uh, it's not hard to take down at all.

I was using my THF sub so I was a 49 RDM/15 THF

I had like 730 HP and 360 MP.

Just kept hitting it didn't even have to use magic. Cast and recast stoneskin when I needed it. With Phalanx the thing hit for about 20 hp, not bad at all.
arghh

I like to wear a elaborate Jar Jar Binks costume and mask as part of my every day life. I went to the grocery store, and saw how depressed everyone was so I thought I would help. I started dancing in the aisles, and yelling at people, and running up to people and taking things out of their cart. It was great fun. Then when I went to check out, there was only one lane open and a long line. I screamed and screamed while in line and danced, bumping into other people. I opened a box of baking soda and threw it around. Finally I got to the checkout. I started making noises at the cashier, and I kept pressing buttons on the computer. Some people in line were groaning because the line was getting very long, but that gave me even more incentive to make them laugh. I climbed onto the table and started kicking peoples groceries on the floor and singing. The manager and one of his goons pulled me off and said I could never shop there again. Can I sue for harassment or possibly assault?

RE: Not THAT hard.

Think before you speak son. He drops several ores and Morion Tathlum is used for Morion Earrings. SOMEONE needs to supply the demand for ore and those earrings, so stop complaining. Same could be said for Leaping Lizzy, mostly a thief item, doesn't stop you 'stupid casters' from camping it. Free world, don't whine.

Killed this thing twice today, and saw it spawn 3 other times. I never saw it spawn at the first split, but I saw it twice at the point on the second floor, 3 times near the stairs going towards Eastern Altepa desert, and once in a side passage near the stairs I just mentioned.

As a level 50 black mage, it took ~627 mp to kill one, and it took 627 mp + manafont to kill another. This thing is no joke.

I can confirm this as well. Burned up 700 MP and then had to use Manafont to finish the job (Threw a Tornado at him. heehee)

Second time I had my curetank with me so with my new gear (747 mp total) I defeated him very easily. I dedided to use my Staff as well, Musketeers Pole, 45 dmg, this helped out some as well, but I wouldn't try this tactic as a Blm solo because of the melee damage you'll take.
-_-;

This thing is EVIL! I'm a level 41 BLM/WHM and this was kicking my ***. Even with my 2 hour I was hardly denting it. Then this ******* came by and was watching me die, so I called for help. I died and lost my level, but it started killing everyone who passed by. But seriously.. this guy wouldnt die.

no, you could not easily solo this thing. If you bring a yagudo drink or two, and you play it smart, you may be able to solo it because it's a worm. Stay back outside its cast range, step up, Water II, go back, wait for Water II to be able to cast, and do it again. It'd be better if you waited till level 34 and used Aero II on this thing. Lucky its a worm though - pretend like you're in shakrami maze soloing and you should be able to take it, although I say *should* with a bit of care. To solo a NM, you need to usually be anywhere from 3 to 10 levels higher than it to safely solo. I'd suggest a minimum of 34, because Water II won't do much damage at all.

GL though.

There is NO way you can beat this at anything below 48. I tried this at 42, and I got him halfway down before running out of MP, a PLD went over and killed him down to about 2 hits and let me take him down (proof once again that JP people are not evil or self centered) knowing full well what he drops. I still didn't get the drop I wanted, but at least I knew that I couldn't take him at this level, and I didn't die. I too tried it at 50 and used most of my MP to take it down. Good lucktrying to take it down...

I solo'd this a couple of days ago as a RDM42/BLM21. I found the ??? in the middle area with all the worms, so I quickly traded the Iron and began the fight. All the worms linked and prodceeded to cast all their magics on me. I was able to cast Stoneskin during the fight without getting interrupted (except maybe once). I got it to around 80% HP and remembered that there's a time limit and then proceded to nuke it, and burned through my MP. Performed my Mid-battle convert, healed back to the white, and just proceeded to whail on it. Blah blah blah, killed it, drops 2 copper ore and 1 tin. Then I just warp out, because i don't want to deal with the linked worms. All the while this DRG is just standing there, probably waiting for me to die so he can get the worm.

By far the hardest part is finding the ??? because there are usually people camping, and they are spread out across the map. I remember I missed it because I was clearing out the worms, and then I saw a DRG killing it (there were a lot of DRG's killing it for some reason), and then later, because I stopped to cure a BST leveling there.

At 45 PLD/THF I solo'd this one no problem. I didn't even have to use any of my healing magic. I had pretty much up to date gear, and a hunting sword. The only problem is catching the ???s when they spawn.

Let me give this a little bit more detail I guess..

Morion Worm spawn in 3 areas in Kor. Tunnel, maing where a lot of worms are, Each area have 2 spawning points. Me and 2 other people, by standing at each 3 area, tested the spawn time. The exact spawn time for "???" is 15 minutes after the last one is killed.

The 3 Areas:
1. Near Z.Mine at the first Split
2. Near Altepa Desert Entrance, Main Tunnel, At the split
3. 2nd Floor, in the middle about the same distance from both other 2 points. A lot of worms are here, you should know where after seeing the worms.

The only things I go for when I hunt this worm is Morion Tatlum, Darksteel Ore and Gold ore.

Hope these information helps

after hunting and twice killing Morion Worm I know some new stuff, mostly thanks to a helpful JP PC:
1. Morion Earrings are not dropped from the worm, but crafted from the Tathlum it drops. I don't know the recipe.
2. There are 6 different locations where the ??? can spawn, 2 nearby each other in 3 different areas. I don't know my way around the place at all, but the one area my friend and I camped (with 2 spawn locations) was indeed at F-9, though I know not which level.
3. This can be a really rough fight. Don't think you can Silence Morion Worm unless you're high enough level to not have to :-/. He resists it quite strongly.

Hope this helps!

Unless you prove this, I am going off the fact that you Craft with Morion Tathlum to get the earring. I serously don't think they drop it. adn another fact, +1 items are NeVER dropped, they are only crafted by a person that is lucky and has alot more skill than needed.

It's triggered by trading some Iron Ore to the ???. I was a RDM24/WHM12 when I tried taking this guy on. We had a PT of 5, Lv.24-26, MNK, WAR, BLM, and another RDM (+me). We all used 2hrs and we managed to get this stupid worm down to less than 1/4 HP. Its -ga spells and Tremor/Sand Spin attacks were too much for us though... ; ;

anyone know what lvl they are?
Its triggered with an item, just like Bernie.
# Dec 17 2003 at 6:58 AM Rating: Default
If you enter the tunnel and move down a bit, right after the road split (where you can go down where spiders and jellies are or to the left where more worms and bats are) you can find a ??? mark if you just keep pressing 0 to tager the closest.
The ??? target does not always show up.
So I targeted this ??? mark by accident and a second later some level 50 guy stands at the mark and a Morion Worm pops up.
The level 50 red mage had a really easy time.
The worm did a rasp and for the rest it just kept hitting the red mage for 20 damage.
During the fight and the ??? mark was gone and it didnt appear untill 5-10 minutes after the Morion worm was killed.
So you cant kill morion worms as often as Bubbly Bernies (you can place quus at the ??? mark and get another Bubbly Bernie to spawn right after you killed the other one) but this sure as hell is one Notorious Monster you can trigger with an item (seeing as it spawned twice at the same place when some level 50+ player stands next to that ??? sign for a moment)

I used to hunt this worm when I was a lv 40 pld/war, but I only hunt this with a party of 3 to cover the 3 camp spots, at lv 40, it's an easy fight IF you've cleared the worms surrounding the spawn spot first (especially at the second camp, there are usually 5 or 6 worms around it that will be in range to cast spells on you), if you try to take this with worms around, you'll be in big trouble. Most players often think because this is a lvl 30 worm, they can take it easy with lv mid 30s, they'll be in for a big surprise!!
