Was in the canal farming viking axes as 75Bst/Nin, and saw this guy on widescan, so i figure i'd try this guy. Already had sabre out, so i started off with him.. Sabre seems to be thf type jug, has pretty good evasion. But this nm hits pretty hard. had to call sabre out again, and then a 3rd time, along with calling my 67healer npc. Took it down in about 25mins. Was tough, but not too bad. i try this guy 2more times.... now i cant beat him lol. anyhow, 0/1 on Gkt, but bst can solo this guy w/o the pugs.

Soloed as RDM75/THF37. I ran into this on a coffer hunt and figured I'd give it a try.

It was a long fight. 3 converts. I actually ran out of MP about a minute before each of them and had to kite for a bit.

I bound it during its two-hour.

At the end I totally ran out of MP, Stoneskin wore, HP was in the orange, and finally it died! It was really close.

Killed him four days in a row as 75BST/NIN using Mousse pets. 0/4 on GKT :(

Pretty easy but slow fight because of all the HP. Tried meleeing alongside pet in one fight when he was on around 1% HP, and the pet missed about ten times in a row after I Rampaged, and I died with no reraise on. Came back to see him on full health, so started the long fight again. Probably over an hour and a half spent to get an Undead Skin and Dark Crystal.

I found it speeds up the kill to pop the occasional Carrie, then you can fight alongside and Snarl the hate away.

Edit: Woot, finally got the GKT. 1/5.

easily soloable 75SAM/DNC, can't use drain samba (because its undead), but with decent eva/parry gear he won't hit you much so curing waltz II does fine. Does have mighty strikes, which can do quite a bit if you're unprepared. Prolly has ~35k hp.

1/5 on GK, takes 25min(excelent gear) to 50min (unmerited + ahSAM gear) to kill. Windurst Walls canal access makes getting to it easy.
I don't believe in good guys versus bad guys anymore… I only see a plethora of states acting in self interest… with varying ethics and moral standards of course, but self-interest nonetheless

Had it down to 4% before it ate me >.< Fight took ~15 minutes

I love trying out SAM/WAR for soloing (/NIN and /DNC are, of course, superior) and this NM was next on my list. I came down looking for the coffer and NM, ran out of time after finding neither and logged at H-10 far enough away (so I thought) from the spawn room with the intent to check in later.

I logged back on later that night and was immediately aggro'd by OC, getting hit 5 times before I could even see the NM. I was also down 3 pints from the bar and on the phone with a friend, so suffice to say things didn't get off to a good start. I called my NPC buddy, TP'd up to 200 then fired off Light x2 (Y-> Sekkanoki -> G -> 2-hr -> Kasha -> Meditate -> Y -> G -> K) the first of which closed for 1315, the second for 1650. His HP, however, barely moved. NPC, a lvl 63 Soothing Healer, ran out of MP fast so I disengaged, disbanded, and summoned her again from a Tactics Pearl. I held out for a good, long while and between Seigan+Third Eye and capped (but unmerrited) EVA, this mob's accuracy is terrible... only 1 crit from Mighty Strikes landed for 350 damage. I could've buffed with food, but after getting jumped I realized I had a slim chance of winning so decided not to waste it :/

I recognize that using an NPC buddy doesn't quite count as soloing, but I believe I could have taken him easily if I had time to perpare for the fight rather than get aggro'd into it with 0 TP, a slight buzz, and a girl talking in my ear. The plan was- and still is: Zone in, summon NPC with Tactics Pearl (10 minute cooldown), Meditate to 300TP, eat Jack o' Lantern (EVA bonus) and remember to equip Evasion Torque (>.<), Let NPC Protect/Shell, rest her to full MP, engage. When the NPC runs out of magic, disengage, disband, summon from Signal Pearl, re-engage. Should she run out again, disband, summon from cooled down Tactics Pearl, engage.

Will be trying this again next week...

Success! Although I hestitate to call it soloing based on the abuse of my NPC buddy, I followed the above plan which I intended to try from the beginning...

Zone in, summon NPC with Tactics Pearl (10 minute cooldown), Meditate to 300TP, eat Jack o' Lantern (EVA bonus), Let NPC Protect/Shell, rest her to full MP, engage. When the NPC runs out of magic, disengage, disband, summon from Signal Pearl, re-engage. Should she run out again, disband, summon from cooled down Tactics Pearl, engage.

...and won with 512/1404 HP left after using all three planned summons of lvl 63 NPC buddy. The first Light SC closed for 1150, and the second for 1049. All told, the 6 WS opening only dropped him down to 81% HP (after adding up the damage from the log, this NM has roughly 32,000 HP).

I, once again, forgot the Evasion Torque in the MH but was fine with capped evasion, Rasetsu Tekko, and the Jack o' Lantern. His accuracy is terrible, but the one Mighty Strikes hit he landed on me connected for 352 damage so, uh, ouch. Conversely, my normal hits ranged from 80-114, with crits in the 200 range, and WSes hitting for 574 to 1379 (<3 Double Attack) The fight still took ~10 minutes (I began and ended the fight with Sekkanoki) times throughout) of pure melee, and if it wasn't for the 3 summons of my NPC I wouldn't have stood a chance.

I found this guy in his room sitting alone and decided to take a shot at it after comparing his lvl to Aquarius. Dragged the thing using pugils in the adjacent passages to the bloodball room and cycled charming 1 of the 3 leeches. It can probably be easily soloed with any /NIN sub as it attacks really slow and has moderate defense. Soloed as a lvl 65 BST/WHM, 0/1 for GK. Just keep your distance if you plan to heal, it has some AoE Virus move.
Wrong respawn timer.
# Nov 30 2006 at 11:08 PM Rating: Decent
This NM is NOT 21-24hr respawn. I had ToD, and came back with 30 minutes to spare till window opens, spent 4 hours there, no pop.

Therefore, all the websites are wrong.

If you have correct info, please feel free to share.

Last night me and a 75 nin where just kinda exploring a lil bit and he told me about this guy, so we camped him for a bit, then we healed we where almost full and this guy comes running up scared the poopie out of me(had to go change my Depends) but we start whaling on him and this guy has some HP. at least 50k hp is not more. But was a VERY easy fight, he did turn and hit me every now and then but it was no biggie. I think when he finially went down, I was in the red and the nin was yellow. We did duo it but we had a whm npc help for a bit, then she died lol. But this guys is not tough just has an **** load of hp. O yea, after about a 10min battle we got undead skin >< o well maybe next time. ~Winsor

P.S. Special thanks to the Nin tank, Pimpcheez.

with npc out, she was w/o mp, she still helped (lv42whm), but at least i didn't feel alone, convert was rdy right on time, fight took like 40min -.-, i converted like 4 times(my convert recast is 8min). i shadow tanked as i could, he hits fast so para, slow, blind is a must, did some dots but not that munch since i needed mp badly, at half of his HP i 2hr cause things got a little ugly, with 2hr all i did was utsu:ni and casted some buffs quick and converted, to my luck, he used his 2hr too, like 5sec later, "Mighty strike" which i tankend most with "Chainspell" utsu:Ni, and at the end stoneskin. then after 2hrs were gone, he was finally starting to look 30hp%.
savage bade(every 100tp), had my 24 enfire dmg rdy, jelly ring, and cheviot cape, also dualwielded joy and hornet. haste all the time. at the very last 5% i lost track of utsu, and refresh... i ran out of mp, so i was left with shadow tanking till haste wore, he was 3% by then, with my spare mp (23mp left, no convert) i did para, slow and pray, lol my last shadow, and i killed him.
-37 exp points
-1 undead skin
;; well, at least i show him! was fun and exiting, gl everyone^^;

I was soloing it as a 70SMN/35WHM.
It was at 38% HP after about an hour of kiting around the square area on the first map.
But zomg, what happens? I was replying to someone in linkshell chat and Carby died much earlier than I expected (I'm assuming Oni used Mighty Strikes) and by the time Carby came out, he was close enough that his aggro got stuck on me.
So I ran around the square until Carby got him off me, but when I went to summon my next Carby he reset. :(

The fight is quite challenging, yes, aside from Mighty Strikes not much of a problem though if you remain calm since your Wyvern can easily keep up with his dmg at around 74. After that it's only about outlasting him which should be no problem with drinks/Refresh. Although I've got to say that I tend to have bad luck while fighting him. Bluescreens, phonecalls, etc..

Good job on soloing him without an Ethereal earring though, quite impressive.

Otherwise, no mischarms or anything ^^, no GF drop either

Solo'd this as 73 bst/whm today. Took over 60 minutes and about 200 - 400 full health pugils as well as about 8 carries and a few bouncingballs (leeches). Only got undead skin but definately a fun fight. To any bst intending to solo this i suggest you bring sneak oils since sometimes you run out of mp or need to cast sneak very fast.

Just killed this thing tonight. It was me (74 SAM/THF), 74 NIN/WAR, and 70 BLM/WHM. The fight took about 10 minutes. Like everyone said, this thing has soooooo much HP. We did a Blade: Ku > Tachi: Gekko SC. Our SC did ~2500 damage every time, but barely made a dent on the thing. I'd have to turn away after the SCs cause it would attack me, but the fight was smooth otherwise. Got the GK, undead skin and a dark crystal. I had no idea this was such a rare drop until I read these posts. Too bad the GK is only worth around 300-500k on Titan.

"Too bad its only 300-500k on titan" O.o... Im Lv 64 SAM aquired my lv up last night, Onikiri is 950-1.2m on Midgardsormr... which sucks cause i need it next lv and all my money went to the Haub, so im basically boned, my question is... even if it was worth more then 300-500k? would you sell it? its a good Dynamis-Xacarbard blade isn't it?
Definately soloable with NIN or /NIN, but a pain

Soloed this as a 75 NIN/WAR, he really does have bad acc, never had a problem keeping shadows up. Paralyze and Slow worked well, Blind was about 50% chance with capped ninjutsu and a merit in it. Fight took about 15 minutes, and all of his special moves go through utsusemi. Finished the fight with 12 HP and my finger on the self destruct button. Every point of damage done to me was from the special moves, wich seem to always do the same damage, like one does 200 every time, and another always seemed to do 100. No drop, but I think it's pretty rare. Also, my 700-1000 damage Blade: Jins took off a whopping 2-3% of his health.

My 75 paladin and myself (75 whm) have killed him 3 times.
Got last night's fight down to about 31 minutes. Previously it took us 45 minutes, I'm a taru, and it's tough to get my 1200 mp back.
I get about 8 hexa strikes off, but most of the time i'm casting blindna and viruna on Syberius.
Anyways, we're 0 for 3. Seems like the Onikiri will not drop for us.
Overall, I've had horrible luck on NM drops, so maybe it's just me. Fun fight though. Nobody ever camps him on my server.

Just tried to solo this as rdm75/blm.

Hahahah. Don't try this yourself.

I died. It's not possible with /blm.

With nin, I dunno, but there's no way you're doing it with /blm, trust me.

It hits hard, you'll be spending all your time desperately trying to reapply your stoneskin, you won't take anything at all off his hp really, then you will die.

Well not 100Bil HP but ... It had A LOT of HP.

I killed it last night as a 71 BST using local pugils and a leech that I used in between pugs. Leech is a much better pet and a lot of times managed to get close to 300TP so I rested it whenever I used pugs and used 1 to 2 pugs depending if the leech was hit my the mold move that causes disease. Acid mist is also no joke, the few times the leeches used it Oni’s DD output nearly cut in half.

I had a 75 WHM friend with me that pretty much just enfeebled with Paralyze, Slow and Dia II. The fight was easy and the only danger was during pet swaps because the WHM would get hate from the enfeebles cast earlier and Oni hits a tatu WHM pretty damn hard. So he had a few close calls but nothing dangerous except when he got hit and sneak wore off but the leech a couple of times. Eventually the leech disease did not wear off in time and it was being a pain so I killed it off and used the pugs in the tunnels. We worked our way through countless pugs after a marathon for 1/2 of Oni’s HP eventually making it to the room with 2 more bloodballs where we ended the fight rotating between the 2 leeches there (3 but the one I had killed had not respawned yet). I engaged Oni when it had just barely a noticeable sliver of red for HP and meleed with my leech and the ****** still almost killed the leech.

Very fun fight, the WHM had a blast as well as I. No real danger to myself at any time except when I miss-charmed a bloodball in the room with the 2 of them, lucky they did not link and Oni only got me to 700HP after going through stoneskin and blink. We got one dark crystal and one undead skin, no katana. Fight was less then 1 hour for sure but I can’t remember the exact time we spent. We just happened to be looking for a coffer and he had one up his ***.
fun fight

We took on this bad boy with a Mithra THF68/NIN34, Elvaan BRD68/WHM34, Mithra PLD60/WAR30 and a Taru RDM61/WHM30. Battle lasted at least 25 minutes with 2 converts, a plethora of Dancing Edges, and lots and lots of Ballads (and perhaps just a few moments of panic). We lived to tell the tale, though for all our trouble it only dropped one undead skin and a few dark crystals. Fun, though, to take on a challenge like this. Good luck to you! <(^.^)>

Im proud of myself for being able to tank him thought. was so much fun.

was thinking about camping this thing last night as 73 SMN. stayed there for a while during afternoon and it didn't pop. then a couple others came over and camp with me, so i left and help friends with quests and what not. came back later on at night and camped there again. it poped while i was half afk and start attacking me (lick attacks with tounge... yuck~! >3<). good thing my trusty bodyguard Carbuncle get right on it and took him off me.

ran back to PC, sneak and heal up and kited it over to the easier part of the Canal. just kinda kite it around there for a while. later on some LS friends came by and join the fun, just running around with me and all. lost claim twice because i was too careless thou (the reason the whole fight took over 2 hours orz). this thing sure has a whole load of HP thou. i use Ifrit and Flaming Crush it a few times for a total of 2500ish damage and i didn't even notice it's HP bar move. in any case, we killed it in the end but all it dropped was an undead skin and a dark crsytal. going to try it again tonight and see if we'll get the katanna ^^

Marathoned it as 65BST. Fight took about 45 minutes, I used mostly pugils with the occasional leech when I had the chance (started the fight off with a Familiared T leech). Kept Stoneskin/Blink up, and usually sneak unless it wasn't necessary. He only managed to hit me a few times and I dropped to yellow once when I got aggro from a pugil and had to swap without much buffs. Fun fight, drops were 2x Undead skin and Onikiri. Not sure how much there worth so gonna check that out ^^.
