Soloed it today as a 69 BST.

I was on my way back from Ifrits Cauldron, and was heading for the outpost to teleport home. All of a sudden I spot this gigantic tree, which I presume is an NM given its size, and sure enough it is Impossible to Gauge. So I whip out a jug pet and throw it into the fray. It died before Call Beast timer was rdy, so I had to charm Coeurls, Pugils, and Crawlers to throw at the tree until I could call another jug pet. These pets only lasted a few hits as they were "too weak", but did enough to take hate. I was about to engage with one of my jug pets when I see: Benediction! Woodland Sage recovers 4568hp. Ugh!!! So I just rinse and repeat what I was doing, engaged near the end and bingo. Overall, the fight was really easy, just very very long, and in the end all it dropped was an earth crystal. Oh well, still fun.

Me and some other people were coming back from an unsuccesful Carbuncle Mitts hunt, when we found this guy. It was me (56SAM), a 62 smn, and a 60ish pld who found him. Since everyone else had disbanded, we decided to fight him alone. He was down to about 1/4 hp when he used Benediction and regained....3600 hp. We ran, and zoned into Rancor Den.

A friend of mine and I ran into him while we were headed to the Cauldron. He caught us off guard but both of our Carbys were out and on it. We zoned and decided to take him on. The fight took about 45 min and several casualties were incurred (by a nearby pty ><). I was lvl 57 and he was 59. After getting him down to less than half health he used benediction. So, we ended up starting all over. Neither of us got in any real danger b/c our respective Carbys tanked it and we kept our distance and kept buffs. The nearby pty did not anticipate this guy's mean AoEs and had some casualties as a result. Eventually, I invited a rdm to come and give us refresh so we could continue to battle. Big mistake. >< We continued to fight until it died. It was a triumphant moment. Everyone was cheering and happy. We had considered astral flow but I didn't want to waste it so we ended up Carby tanking this baby all the way. The only thing that broke the excitement of the moment we defeated it was a measely 56 xp we gained and no drops. >< My friend told me that was b/c I invited the rdm mid battle. So, in conclusion, this guy has huge hp, will use benediction at one point, and has very strong AoEs. If you fight him make certain to keep stoneskin and blink up. Good luck
New drop

It also drops a Petrified Log. Biggest (Galka RNG/NIN 61/30), and Ayailla (Hume F RDM/BLM 61/30) killed it. A pretty tough fight for us though. I had 63 HP left when Ayailla made the deathblow! ^^; Fighting mobs like this... uncertain of victory... makes the game much more fun. We were supposed to be finding the ??? for Hojo: Ichi scroll quest. I guess we took a wrong turn.. or 5!

When fighting this, take care, it can and will use Benediction on itself.
