Vana'diel Bestiary: Marquis Amon  

Dropped Flare for me today to my surprise.

And he is lvl 76 , otherwise I wouldn't get 130XP for solo-ing it

The level on this guy is very misleading. A level 76 mob sounds like it would be difficult, or at least a challenge, to take on solo. However, I fought this guy as 75RDM/NIN and I didn't really take any damage at all. He went down almost as fast as the regular coffer mobs. The only real trouble here is pulling the NM without linking the other demons nearby (which con Decent Challenge to a 75). If you can pull it cleanly, or kill off demons in the way, this is cake.

I got 130xp and a demon horn. Easiest 130xp I've ever made soloing with my RDM, that's for sure. Finally, a high level BLM-type NM you can actually silence.

While coffer/key hunting in Castle Zvahl, myself THF51/NIN25 and a LS mate NIN71/WAR35 stumbled upon him. I can confirm he has no placeholder, all four of the other Demons were also present in his spawn area. The NIN decided to take him on, even though we had no mages to cure. NIN got him to about 60% HP, at which point Amon used 2HR and a nasty chain of -ga spells. He might very well still have won, but Amon hit the NIN with some very nasty poison, and we had no Poisona/Antidote. The poison did 25hp/tick, and the NIN went down fast.

I warped and returned with my WHM44, and another LS mate, a PLD73. I raised the NIN, and we re-engaged Amon (who had regened to full HP), and won very, very easily. Only dropped a Demon Skull, but it was no big deal as the Lion Crossbow is unremarkable, and only goes for ~40k on Caitsith. Still a very fun fight, and the PLD and NIN each got ~90xp.

Fun fight as RDM/NIN, killed him without any real problems. He can be slept and will cast nasty things (Firaga 3) so keep him silenced.
