Enkelados's Special Attacks
Historical InformationIn Greek mythology, Enceladus ("Trumpeter to Arms") was one of the Gigantes, the enormous children of Gaia (Earth) fertilized by the blood of castrated Uranus. During the battle between the Gigantes and the Olympian gods, Enceladus was disabled by a spear thrown by the goddess Athena. He was buried on the island of Sicily, under Mount Etna. The volcanic fires of Etna were said to be the breath of Enceladus, and its tremors to be caused by him rolling his injured side beneath the mountain. In Greece, an earthquake is still often called a "strike of Enceladus".

Just solod this big guy easily as a 53pld/16thf. Started off full hp and mp and killed his bats with him at 75% hp when he charmed me. After charm wore off I had half HP and MP and with him having bats again. This time I left them alone and killed him with 137 HP left. Afterwards I killed the bats, looked at the log and nearly pissed myself, got everything on the list except the gigas necklace. Woohoo, thats an extra 800k in my pocket.

btw im not sure about that if other NM's are up, ife Enkel spawns....im sorry but i'll keep camping this for ever +1

well... here's my add on this huge crap...it was me vs. a THF/BST...DRG/WHM...
(70WAR/35NIN) sense the update on instant voke got updated...i didn't think i had much of a chance...(btw thank you for putting up that Bonecutter was PH it helped inmensly) the 2 other people camping it didn't know who the PH was they just kept killing the typical 2-3 giga's that popped in the circle... i saw the bone cutter in the middle passage between both spawn points and quickly killed him before the DRG and THF saw me. Then when they cought up to me i quickly rampaged another giga close by so they would think i was just eliminating giga's. Right after the bone cutter died...about 30 secs.. Enk popped and i killed him.
i only got his gym socks...add me tot he team 0/1

well, found out theres only 1 PH....the bonecutter. dont know his respawn time yet but as you can see he has a looong spawn time then respawns under a hour. other then that, not sure if that mimas guy has to be dead for him to spawn or not.

im 0/16 i think maybe 20 have been charmed 2 times the 1st time no one came then i finished it of lol the 2nd time a lvl 60+ thf not sure had anon on said can i have it in a tell to me so i say sure if u can kill us ^^ i dont think the thf knew that i would attack him cause i was charmed lol i felt kinda bad that i killed him any ways i became uncharmed then killed it then i got a R2 for the thf lol
I don't know if someone already mention this(too lazy to read) but he spawned 15 mins after i killed him and got drop. Got socks on him that time. So now I'm 1/6 on him.
Say if you have a pet like say a wyvern and you get charmed... do you lose your pet?
I wouldn't want to lose my wyvern :(

No, a lot of RMTs use this technique to let their pet tank so that when the 2hr goes off it will have no effect on the pet since it is under someone else's control already. I'm 1/19 on this guy currently. >.<;

I was camping it and run to the other room, I saw it, unclaimed and for some reason it had a lil' damage on it... There was a lv 70 RNG standing right next to it a i thought it must have been AFK...
So being the fool I am I attack it, next thing I see? "(Ranger's name here) Hits Shugo for 45 points of damage." I was freaking out! I was like O_O OMFG! I had killed it 2 times before and gotten the drop once. I knew it 'could' charm people but never thought it would happen it me lol! The Ranger was like /s YOU F*CKER! ...
; ; I felt bad for him so I quickly asked him if he would split the drop, he agree'd and I invited really fast. He came uncharmed just as I did invited him and he finshed it off. No drop :( .
All I gotta say is thank god I left a lil' Shihei in my invo after my last party or I would'dav died lol!

heh, it's funny you mention that....I was once camping Enke and there was a 75 Samurai up there, he got the claim and lo and behold....charmed. Enke was at 1/2 health though, so I ran in, engaged, 2 hour'd, and managed to kill him before the Samurai killed me (he criticaled for 198 first time, hit me for 99 the second). no drop that time around, took me about another 10 kills lol. Luckily the samurai had a polearm, if he used a GKT I definitely would have died.
Was camping him last night for a couple hours as well as ogygos on the floor below him. Couldnt get either of them to spawn so i logged out. Today I continued trying to find them and got enky. Took him and the two other gigas in the room down (stupid links) with about 200 HP left. Got the drop so now Im 1/1. Some guy came by and told the guy i was camping with he was 0/25 so we might as well give up lol fate is so cruel to people who camp NMs sometimes. Just gotta wait for the things to sell so i can get my 800k.
Update: Me and a couple guys in my LS camped him and ogy tonight. Killed him twice in 40 minutes then he didnt spawn for 7 and a half hours ; ;. Went 0/3 on him and we're gonna wait to see if he has a short spawn time to offset the long *** wait.

As a 55WAR/27NIN I killed him, but not before he and his bats took me down to 287 health from 1111(no shihei ;_; ).
I got 15 exp, an ice crystal and gigas socks >_<
I have solo'd him before but he charmed me >_<
I believe due to the exp I received he may be in the 45~50 range.

Got the drop tonight. 1/1 on him now.
Was in upper delkfutts on my 45 bst helping a 40 bst in my ls get his af axe, no big deal, and we stop to rest in the room with the teleporter. Enkelados was just around the corner, so we couldn't see him, just the other gigas. Suddenly my friend goes "holy ****!" and we could see an enormous axe hanging around the corner. He was loaded and just hanging out with his buddys. I didn't know how tough he was, but being a bst......gotta love a challenge.
I threw my pet at him, and heeled him back into the teleporter room without any links. I was using Keeneared Steffi and my friend was using a basic crab. Enk smashed my rabbit while starscream and his pet killed the bat.
I then kited enk around the room and hall until the crab could pull it off me. Then I called a new pet, my trusty Funguar, and threw it into the battle, using my 2 hour for good measure. Our pets then totally owned Enk, and my funguar finished the battle with a 306 damage dark spore. Happily, we also got the drop. 800k on Titan.

lol hunted it almost 2 days straight.. 0/7 so far.
hasnt charmed me yet either but did charm a lvl 75pld once... hmm wonder why higher lvl and not lower lvl.

Just mentioning the Drop rate on this thing is very low, 1/11 on him so far. Out of the 11 times, he is yet to charm me (61 Drg). His charms seem unpredictable, he is yet to charm me, but i have seen him charm level 75 Ninjas and Paladins. Oh, and be careful, on my server people have tendencies to zone Incubus bats(EM @ Lvl 65) whenever you claim this guy.
Just thought i'd mention that his spawn pattern is sporadic, and also seems to be linked with one of the other Nms(Ogy, which spawns just one floor below). But i can't really prove that.
Occasionally took up to 3 hours to spawn, after which he spawned twice within 12 minutes. Always in opposite rooms.

Adding this to my accidental kill list. Was farming up top for thunder elementals as its a nice enclosed space where three to five spawn in a very close range. Waiting for the weather effects, I kill the gigas for a spot of gil. Next thing I know, theres a giant thats a head taller than the others and blue. Had no idea what it was, just that it was in the way of the other monsters and proceeded to smack it around...
And of course, all the other giants I'd killed before had their timers count down and spawned just as I started combat, along with a thunder elemental. Nothing quite as invigorating as a NM and five links.
Alas, no bracelets, just a shield, which went to the farming duo who gave aid in killing links and defeating the beast after hitting every panic macro I had once confronted with six angry mobs. Woo.

Ok me and my homeboy nitecon drg whent to go camp this NM we both subed thf for treasure hunter and between the 3 hours we where there it spawned 3 times we got em twice the first time we killed em no drop -.- but the second time we got the drop!!! woooo but anyways when we got drop he had his pet so i dunno maybe u can only get drop if he has his pet just wanted to say we. also would kill all the NM on that floor

I just killed enky...... i forgot to wait for him to summon his bats, and there was a 63 War waiting for him to charm me, so i got him down to about half hp,Super Jumped, and he tried to charm me...so it missed. Then i finished him off.
He dropped socks though....so im now 0/2

Well, It was my first trip to Upper Delkfutt and I was just exploring the new area. PLD58/War29
Saw this bad boy and his bat. 2 other mobs were also in the area. Nobody around to claim so I just got ready the best I could.
Begin Combat: Well it started out like any battle, we trade hits, the pet was annoying but not a problem. The two other mobs linked (of course) and the real battle ensued... Low on mp I panick and hit Invincible. Not even 2 seconds after my 2 hour wears he hit's his bats 2 hour and nearly kills me.. Went ok for about 30 seconds and the NM dropped. (got his sweaty socks >.>). Now to deal with the links... No mp and half hp i refused to leave a battle unfinished. So i popped out a High Potion and eventually won with about 200 hp. Pocketed the worthless drop and held the priceless memory ^.^
Now I camp him regularly. Not a single good drop yet.. 0/6 on bracelets.
Not big on camping NM's? well you're in luck :D The elementals that spawn in the same area make the wait worthwhile, not to mention the magic jars. I'm not a big NM hunter myself, 90% of my NM kills were by utter luck lol.

Two nights ago Enkelado's popped on the next placeholder spawn, immediately after Pallas was defeated on the floor above.
Coincidence? Possibly, but I'm still leaving the possibility out there that only one Gigas can be up at a time in Upper Delk. Tower.

i was recently interested in these bracelets yesterday so i started camping him. First day i got there and some guys were already camping it, took about 1.5 hrs to pop. I was a 65 Drk/Thf. 1 of the other campers, a 74 Mnk/War had won the pop, but as i read up on this guy i knew he was gonna get charmed =D. the Mnk gets it down to abour 50% hp and boom!, NM 2hrs and mnk is his pet ^^. I stun and run like hell knowing that the monk has a good chance of killing me. I let charm run its course and wear off and kill the NM. all i got was his stinking socks, who does he think i am? his laundry man?, and a mahagony shield.
Today i decided to go back and try again while i wait for a pt. Get there and he is camped. About 3 hours later with no pops every1 else leaves and i have the place to myslef. He pops and instead of claiming him right away i let him summon his pet. He called his bat, i engaged and killed, socks and shield again =/. I had got a key from a magic urn and decided to go find a chest. Found 1 and got the axe (6k). So i started my way back up to the top so i can take the quick way out. For some reason i check his spawn at F-8 and he was there! only after maybe 10 mins of me killing him b4 he had poped again and had his bat out already. I engage and kill, and to my absoulte shock he drops a gigas Necklace ............ AND THE ENKELADOS'S BRACELETS!(1.2M on Phoenix server). btw i had killed him previously in the other spawn area. Just realized last night that the placeholders spawn in 12 minute intervals, not 15. Just thought I'd let any would be campers know.
I'm currently 0/4 on him as well as 0/2 on two other Gigas NM. They are not very receptive to giving up their bracelets.

I'm inclined to believe that there is another variable involved in getting this NM to pop. Whenever I am up there by myself, (twice now, two four hour sessions) the NM has yet to pop >_>. And I am killing placeholders right when they pop.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, whenever I'm up there and there are 2-3 people killing Gigas', the NM pops at a pretty regular interval. Popped three times in a 2 hour span yesterday under these conditions.
So I am inclined to believe that there is another variable involved in this NM popping. Possibly he does not pop when one of other NM in Upper tower is up (Alky, Pallas). The NM all drop a similar piece of armor, so maybe only one of them can be up at a time.
Or maybe I'm just having bad luck, just thought I'd throw the idea out there.

Yesterday I was killing goblin smithys in middle delkfutt's to try to get a couple chainmail armors to sell but none dropped (I dont even know if they drop).
I got bored and went up to the 10th floor and started killing mimas as soon as they spawned, I was also killing other random giants for the gil and hoping to see enkelados to take a shot at him and kill him. I wasn't really sure i'd survive tho (Lv 53 Drk/ 18 Thf).
I was fighting a gigas bonecutter (which brought me down to about 3/4 HP and 3/4 MP when, sure enough, enkelados pops in front of me.
I wasnt even sure i'd be able to defeat him full HP/MP, so even being sure I'd die at my current state I took a shot at him. I defeated the gigas, then SA-ed the enkelados, did Souleater/Bloodweapon, that brought my HP back to full and took about 1/3 of his HP, then the rest of the fight i just kept draining with the little MP i had and using Vorpal Scythe whenever I could. In the end I had 29 MP and I decided to use sleep instead of drain so i could SA-Slice him. the sleep failed and the last MP i could use for my last drain was gone. I was sure I was gonna die (He was at about 1/3 HP and so was I). But I think I have to thank thf's evasion bonus, even on a sub as gimp as that (which I only use for farming, btw), I managed to defeat enkelados. No drop tho, only gigas socks, 12 exp, and 285 G.

I fought this thing this morning for the first time (as a Lv59 DRK). It and the Gigas that linked to it nearly beat the crap out of me. I managed to save myself using Blood Weapon and it dropped the braclets. ^_^ I can't wait for it to sell at the AH!
