Vana'diel Bestiary: Sea Horror  

I'm 50BLM/25WHM and last night this thing spawned on the boat. I was the highest level around by like 15 levels and it aggroed one of the lower levels, it was all set to kill teh entire boat. Now, i'm a taru, and i have 518 HP, and i happened to have blink up, so in a blazed of glory, i hit Stun, aggro the horror and tell the others to run below deck. I actually managed to get a AerogaII off before it obliterated my existence, but i got a lot of thank yous from the lower levels afterward. This guy is nasty, but I think it was worth it, just my two cents.

Lol, I was just going from selb to mah, and a lvl 70 whm caught one and started to kill it with a summon...well...he was losing like 5 of us healed him....i stupidly used divine seal as a lvl 31rdm/15wmh....cured the lvl 70 for over half of his hp with cure3 and got rocked in 2 hits....412dmg and 389dmg.....needless to say I'm gonna cats blink before i do that again....if i do that again....then my game crashed for some aweful reason

There's a box in the front of the boat, just place yourself behind it and start fishing, it wont see or hear you then.

The other day riding the boat Mr. Horror finally pops, and a 70 red pulls. after about 5 minutes of watching the fight she invites me, a 50 red, saying that it was taking to long... Because a high level red can solo anything, if they have the time for it :) so i buff up, stoneskin phalanx blink refresh and join the fight. Keeping her buffs up she never dropped in the yellow about 5 minutes later we finally kill it, my sword enhancement hit it for more than my sword did. No drop, oh well... at least i got to kill it :)

Saw this thingy-ma-jigger today. ^^ Heh, my friend was takin' the boat to Mhaura, and it was just sitting up there waiting for everyone right when the boat took off. XD Luckily everyone stood their distance, and no blood was shed. It de-spawned relatively quickly, only to be replaced by a Sea Monk. XD He got some nice pics of the Horror though. ^^ Hope i never see that thing on my account. o.O

i have yet to see this sea horro ive rode the boat once though that could be why soon as i started i run upto deck hoping to see it but no all i see is a damn sea crab so im like ok a crab lets go i attack it and kill it then just sit there the whole trip and i wa slike wtf where is it? then later i was like damn ill just wait another time :D

A Sea Horror spawned on the way back to Selbina. Fortunately, it was at the last minute, and we were all able to get off safely. I was at the downstairs part of the ship, right at the door you enter, and my cursor picked up the name "Sea Horror" through the ceiling I guess. Then the boat docked and we all laughed it up and decided it'd be a surprise for the next batch of sailors.

This proves I am a total idiot. So me and Valreign of the Alexander server are on this ship, this being my first time , bound to get to Windurst.(I KNEW I should have taken the chocobo.) All of a sudden from inside the ship, I see "The Sea Horror hits blah blah for 440 damage." "Blah blah was defeated by the Sea Horror." scrolling down my screen. So then I remember seeing this thing posted here... and so I start to worry. A couple seconds later: "The Sea Horror hits blah blah for 440 damage." "Blah blah was defeated by The Sea Horror." So Valreign says "Don't come up here..." and I obey, for the time being. Later, a mage (I don't know which kind, he warped but he also raised me.) is attacked, being dealt 100 the first attack. He then casts Warp, but it is interrupted. He is then hit for a couple more 100s and dies.

Valreign then says "brb, stay inside" and I obey, for the time being. So... I wait... bored... and run up to look at the door. I thought: "I doubt a monster would be allowed in this ship, and isn't even close." Ha! I was SO wrong. So curiousity gets me, and I open the door. BAM! Right there a Sea Horror is staring me down. The Sea Horror glides into the room, and I start to panic. So it passes right by me, and I just don't know what the hell to do.

Next thing I know I see: "The Sea Horror hits Valreign for 432 points of damage." "Valreign is defeated by the Sea Horror." My poor, poor, idle linkshell buddy. Next I just stand still, changing my attention to seeing that a high level WHM that took off is being hit for 0 damage by a Phantom casting Stone, and then all of a sudden I see: "The Sea Horror hits Kyte for 428 points of damage." "Kyte was defeated by the Sea Horror." I almost suspect another Sea Horror came into the ship, but I don't think two can spawn at a time. It came behind me really fast if it was the same one.

So, we arrive at the docks... dead, luckily I only caused the death of one person. The mage that had been killed before it raised by the White Mage, and then I am raised along with Valreign. After that I say "So, where do I go?" and Valreign says "Nowhere without me." After that we made our way to Windurst, blah blah blah.

Important moral of the story: Don't listen to the talking doors, even if their offer seems like a good one.

I was trying to tell everyone about my random encounter with some freak Sea Monk with a different name. Nobody believed me when I told them about the aptly named "Sea Horror" and how it randomly spawned behind me as I was talking to the captain. Leveled down my poor WHM self.

It was pretty funny, though, because I didn't even realize it was there until I saw red text on my chat window. Turned around, and then /em is backhanded by the Sea Horror. Another weak WHM shouts "OMG SEA HORROR" and is quickly decimated. Luckily, a high-leveled RDM/WHM and his friends were on hand to curb the killing spree.

Finally got to see the Sea Horror. Was on a ship with a WHM25, WAR20, WAR14, and some anonymous WHM fishing. I'm thinking to myself, "I hope we don't get attacked this trip." The WAR20 and I run up on the deck and I'm standing on the stairs wondering if the lure I have would actually catch anything when I look over and see the Sea Horror standing next to the unfortunate WAR. I run for the cabin doors and by the time I make it in and stare out through the windows, the guy is long dead.

So I'm standing there at the front of the cabin, two feet and one pane of glass are all that separates me from the monster, trying to figure out how to take screenshots while the fisherman casts Sneak on himself. I'm describing this all to my LS while they all laugh and tell me how I'm going to die. I remember the other passengers and start wondering if /sh will draw a sound aggro mob's attention. About two seconds later, the poor WAR14 opens the door and is dead before it swings all the way open. Naturally, Sea Horror goes downstairs and wipes out the WHM25. I ask for and receive a Sneak from the fisherman, which wears off in about 30 seconds just as the Horror pops back up on deck. So I spend the next 5 minutes trying to get a screenshot until SH finally decides he's had enough and abandons ship. Might've worked better if I had been hitting PrtScn instead of Pause/Break. Everyone who needs it gets Raised by the fisherman and I step into Mhaura having survived my first encounter with Sea Horror.

I'd like to start by saying this forum saved my life from sea horror, telling me he aggros sound, thank you. /bow

Finally saw the guy. Some noob was fishing (lv 22whm) and i said, "dude, at your lvl you shouldnt be fishing on the boat, if a sea monk comes up its going to kick your ***, even a crab would so dont do it man" then he replies "i like sea monks they look cool" ha....sure. about 3 minutes later I read "(white mage) has cought a monster!, Sea horror hits (white mage) for 490 damage (White mage) is defeated. Lol, the best thing ever, i then replied, "yeah i bet you really like them now" just to be a smart ***. Taught him a little respect. He was right next to me and the only reason he didnt aggro me was because i had on sneak, thank goodness. MAN he's big. He then started killing all the other noobs who were running around (didnt have sneak and they didnt know he aggros sound) and two hit killed a lv 32 mithra in Centurion's armor....the one i was wearing O_O;. 12 minutes of constantly casting sneak and running away from him. I have to say it was the scariest experience i've had so far on this game, because he's far bigger than a sea monk and way more powerful.

It was funny how he killed a few of them but i felt sorry for them nevertheless. One was running for the captain's quarters and sea horror went in with him. One ran down the stairs trying to get below deck, sea horror kindly opened the captain's door, met the player at the doors and killed her ;_;. A rdm ran out of sneak and wasn't out of his hearing range, ouch. Taru white mage decided to get close to him (maybe for screenshots) and was running back up the stairs to recast sneak critical hit for 670 damage ouch. A galka was an ok distance away and tried to run up the stairs, sea horror just run up with him and had his way with the galka, two hitter for 340 damage and 390 damage. I was absolutely horrified. He's super aggro and if you happen to run into him DONT START RUNNING IF YOUR CLOSE, your best bet is to be still and hope he doesnt get close to you if you dont have sneak or to ask a mage for invite to cast sneak on you. That was the worst 12 minutes of gameplay i've ever had, i thought he'd get me fore sure.
