This is a mistake by alla, the ring only drops off the NM Bloodsucker in Bostaunieux Oubliette. Which is conviently named the same as the 20 normal Bloodsuckers around it making it confusing.

so there is a normal bloodsucker and NM blood sucker? that is kinda weird

Ok these things are not 52-58 in Bostanieux. Just dropped in as my 75 PLD, thought id check before i engaged one, EP-. Be warned, they ain't as easy as this suggests.

Confirm this drops the Bloodbead Ring? Or is it Bostaunieux Oubliette only?

I learned tonight why BSTs don't normally solo these. Every hit has added effect: Plague.
I'm 55 in Toraimorai Canal, these con from DC to Tough (150). I'd bet they cap at 57 or 58 in the Canal.

yes do not touch them, not even wise to use for pet incase of mischarm unless you have enough pineapples to use juice for the entire xp session.
this plague lasts AT LEAST 30+ minutes, i ran out of mp and after waiting 30 minutes i just decided to die rather than wait longer.
later on we had a run in with one of these again, my pet got plagued by it before killing it, i used leave on my pet, left the canal, came back 45 mins later and the pet i had used was still at 30% hp, this plague is killer.
only real solution is to find a whm that can remove the status or go back to town, change to level 1 job and go die.

i was exploring my first time in canal and tested to see if these link by throwing a pugil at them... of course they link, so i release and charm the one that comes after me..
during this sneak wears off and the ones on another ledge agro me so i run to a safe distance and start to logout (because i didnt want to mess with them) 5 seconds to go and they find me(they had to run the long way around i guess) and hit me and plague me so i fight my leech on them and warp cudgel out.
plague lasted over an hour on me until a nice soul(taz~) got viruna from jeuno for me so i could heal myself as whm 36.
so yes.. do not touch these .. avoid them at all costs(unless you have a whm34+(or sub) with you to fix you up).

btw, they cap at 56 i believe in the canal, i have seen decent, and even match bloodsuckers, have yet to see a tough and i'm level 56.
