Hey...I see above that these supposedly drop Blizzard III. But this is a WAR-type mob- did someone mess up or does this really drop the scroll? I'm thinking someone meant Tomb Mages.
Coffer Drop

I saw a Black Mage (Level 56 I think?) shouting in Jeuno that he needed help with BLM AF (forgot which one). Anyways, I decided to be nice and help him out. We got Lv.69 THF and 60+ something MNK to join too. Well, we got to Eldieme, flipped up to the 2nd switch, and dropped down to the basement (not the one to the island, one to the Hume Bones). Found a tunnel, starting pulling Tomb Mobs. Within 3 kills of these suckers we got the BLM his Coffer Key. It took longer to get to the key than it took to get to the spot >.> Congrats Roasty on Garuda ^^

More numbers in your alliance/party make these more difficult to kiil because of blood saber. They can be down to 20% and drain an alliance back up to 50% or more. Highly recommend anyone who can, use stoneskin while fighting any skeletons in eldieme. Stoneskin will take the dmg and give them nothing back. SMN is particularly useful with Earthen Ward, especially to protect the non-melee classes from contributing to the hp drain X_x
These Tomb Warrior suck

Really, these Tomb Warrior tends to use Drain-ga (if there's such a thing). Everybody surrounding the tomb warrior will get HP sucked away and it'll be back to healthy state. So warning to everyone, if you want to fight this thing, make sure your mages are far away from it to prevent being sucked as well. Better still I think silencing it would prevent any chances of them using "Drain-ga". At least worth a try.

"Drain-ga" is a weaponskill ability of theirs called Blood Weapon. Silence will not prevent this, unfortunately.

Actuslly, it's called Blood Saber; Blood Weapon is the DRK two hour. ^_^ But yeah, the ability is very annoying. :'(

I know what you are trying to say cause i use this technique myself, but the way you worded it its misleading and a bit wrong in the general sense, though dead-on accurate in the case you explain.

Mobs that Link will still link to a mob that gets engaged by a avatar pull. Ive seen this happen before previously. What you are really avoiding when you avatar pull is any additional aggros onto you while you return from the pull past whatever the mobs were that you were skipping in the first place. Generally the avatar pulling trick works easiest on mobs that aggro but dont link and who are mixed in with sound-aggro mob that is harder or for whatever reason you dont want to fight. However I have not got a huge amount of experience so id be happy to be told a way to make it work to pull past mobs that link to each other.

As far as I can see it, linking happens by one mob detecting another mobs presence, not by the mobs detecting you. The nice thing about telling an avatar to pull is that the sneak that the summoner has up doesnt get canceled anywhere in the summoning/attacking process and usually the summoner has enough time to get out of melee range before teh avatar dies so taht they dont suffer an attack and lose the sneak that way. You arent really changing or affecting the linking behaviour at all.

Of course on skeletons (and undead in general it seems) you are fine because they aggro but dont link to each other. so you can walk past a ton of undead of the same or different type with sneak up, pull with the av, then walk back past them with sneak up still to your camp. Even with linky mobs you are usually fine to walk past tons of aggro mobs then pull a single mob of the type you want and return, as long as that mob doesnt have to walk past any mobs which could link to it (usualy the same mob type) as it chases you to camp. In which case you are usualy fine if you clear the mobs closest to you and outward, though theres stil a small chance of the mobs shifting around or spawning so that one gets in the way of the return path when you think it should be clear. I cant swear to it but i think i have seen a recently spawned mob link in such a manner before.
Good pull spot

I tried hunting the tomb warriors/mages with a PLD friend of mine, in a PT of lvl 54s. We went through the southern Eldieme entrance, and dropped down through the central room hidden hole to the area where these guys spawn (surrounded by Spriggen ><). Anyone know of a good place to single pull here, or of a better spot to hunt the coffer keys in general?

63WHM/BLM.

I joined a skill up party, little did I know I would end up pulling too. I would Stoneskin, Blink, and Sneak, then pull with Silence + Bind for Mages and Bind for Warriors, recast Sneak, and lead it to my camp.

I get aggro by everything, so I had to do this...it worked well enough. Hoped it helped you.
