54 DRG/BLU going for coffer did a 400 point sickle slash first thing then did a double hit critical b4 firewing got off his healing breath. Little *******
I've been experiencing off these at blm 47 and I tell you that all info on mob elemental weakness is wrong. Why? Well first i do believe that the "based on" element is correct. Thus since a sand spider is based on earth, wind would be it's weakness (wind > earth > lightning). So i did a test and found out I was right. Blizzard 2 doesnt do as much damage as aero2 does.
Wrong. I did the same test. Blizzard II does about 40+ more damage on an average than aero II. Stick with Ice and thunder, seems to work great on the spideys =)
I was harmlessly Pting in QC trying to hit 46 and it used its spider web aoe... nin tried putting her shadows back up and he casting is interrupted. i start to cast Cure IV and suddenly her health drops from 516 to 0... i was like wtf man and looked down at the command and text, ect screen... she had taken 748 points of damage from sickle slash. I STRONGLY suggest you stick with beetles cuz these things will mop the floor with your ***, i learned that the hard way after it went after me >_>
these things are hell i was pting in quicksands and my pts tank died about 6 times from sicle slash to make it wose the main healer was lagging but didnt tell anyone lol thankfully we didnt get link ^_^
WOW i feel lucky then !! I only got hit for 513 I was in the yellow a bit and look up and low red lucky our WHM cure IV me and I cure II myself and lived to fight another day
If you think Sickle Slash is bad from these dudes, wait until you EXP in Boyahda Tree early on fighting Bark Spiders. >:) I suggest you don't let your HP hit yellow, ever. ;)
I got hit by a 856 damage sickle slash before. Protect II, Sentinel, and a kabob. I didn't think he'd be able to do that much to me since he hit me with a 145 damage sickle slash a second or so before. Then I see him use it again...BAM...dead on the floor. I was just /shocked.
I'm am in a party in Quicksand Caves right now. I am a PLD, DEF is 245 with Protect II and VIT is 63. So far the max damage I've taken from a Sickle Slash is 28x. Nothing killer considering I have 832 HP.
Consider yourself lucky then. With Protect II and a Fishkabob my defense is 300 and my VIT is 70. Sometimes sickle slash will hit for 200 damage, but I've seen it hit for as much as 450 to me. I never died fighting them but I never let my HP sink below 550 or so.
even if the pld had protect 2 and sentinel, the sickle sash can do over 400 damage to it. our pld got killed in this manner - and it was a rush to kill that mob as quick as possible. we did it but i walked out of the fight with 10 hp after doing a desperation berserk/warcry/shining blade to kill it.
when fighting the spiders keep your hp to full if at all possible
another fight the spider did sickle sash for 600, and two for 500+ on melee (different one each time) and did not kill that party member largely because it did it when we were at full hp
any whm in parties that are camping them need to have reraise active at all time
900 damage to a WHM with 170 def and 38 VIT or 900 damage to a PLD with 300+def and 55+VIT? There's a big difference between the two scenarios.
I'm really asking. I won't bring a PLD to get slaughtered, but lots of monsters that I've fought between 25-45 were able to 1-hit taru mages, the groups just made sure that didn't happen.
That just happened to us. Our Paladin had 275 defense at the time (Sentinel etc. recast timers weren't up) and he got one-shotted with a 780 Sickle Slash.
HAHA...I am going to tell you that that is a TRUE statement!! LOL...I died twice as the healer with 100% HP's just because a Cure III made it mad!! When you get to Quicksand....fight the beetles...same to better EXP, and they dont hit nearly as hard...I have 795 HP's and 2 times these things wiped the floor with my face!...And dont get all cocky when you go there and fight one with no problem! We must have killed 15-20 of them before we got that 1 or 2 that unloaded on us....from now on its beetles all the way!
