Hunting Skulls

We just finished a Farming Session, which started out for 2 Skulls and a shot at Vouivre for my DRG.
When we got up there Voiuvre was not up, so we started pulling Wyverns.
Killed 37 and got 6 Skulls.
Total Time about 3 Hours.
Voiuvre never poped.

Jobs were:

75BRD/BLM
75BLU/NIN
75PLD/NIN
75MNK/NIN
64SMN/WHM
75NIN/WAR
75RDM/BLM
75WHM/BLM
75SMN/WHM

Hurrican Wyvern is a pretty easy solo for 75 BLM/RDM. Camp in the SW tunnel (watch out for the drop off on the other side).

Wyverns don't link but agro sight. Be careful to avoid agro from the bombs (sight and magic). Stoneskin, Blink, etc. Invisible, go out into the area and find a Wyvern where the bombs are at a safe distance.

Cast Sleep I and Gravity. Invis yourself again (use prism powder if bombs move and you get nervous). Run back to the camp and Heal until the Wyvern comes at you. Sleep I, Bind, Nuke, Sleep II, Heal. Bind Nuke Sleep II Heal and repeat. Recast Gravity when it wears. Recast Stoneskin or Blink if you take a couple of hits before you can sleep him. I would cancel the remaining stoneskin or blink in order to have a fresh copy on before enaging him again. The Bind will quite often wear off immediately when you nuke, so be safe. I was not hit for damage once as a result.

It took me about 5 tier IV's to kill. I died once when I was careless on a pull and agro'ed bombs but never died from the wyvern itself. Skull dropped on the 15th kill.

Use an empress band and get some XP/MP at the same time ^^.

Could kill it in about 40 mins as a lv 71Rdm/Blm. Only Thunder 2 seemed to do any real damage. Got the skull 1/1 thankfully. Hit for 90+ each time that I didn't have stoneskin + blink up. It runs very fast when pulling, and atttacks at about sword speed.

Good luck :)

Was able to kill this reasonably easily as a 75BLM/RDM, but it took me about 30 kills and 5000exp before I got a skull.

I camped on the far side of the Wyvern room, in the little narrow path leading to the west. I was able to successfully pull the Wyverns with Gravity, but there really isn't much room to run, so the actual fight is a strict sleep/nuke. I would lead my Wyvern back to camp, and then Bind them, and nuke with Thunder IV, which would do about 1/3 of their health in damage. Then sleep, rest a little, bind and repeat. Make sure you have Stoneskin and Blink up each time, because Bind (for me, at least) did not stick very long.

Got anywhere from 100-200exp while fighting them, and not much else. When it was all said and done, I only ended up with the Wyvern Skull and one Wyvern Skin...the drop rate doesn't seem all that good to me.

There are a couple important things to note when attempting to solo these. First, the bombs in the area aggro sight, and they also aggro magic. Most of them will check DC-EM to a 75, so they're not as deadly as they could be, but pulling a Tough Wyvern >AND< a bomb can be really bad news. If you're too lazy to kill the bombs, you can always pull them back to camp, sleep them, and log out. Thanks to the MPK patch, they'll despawn and you'll be free to pursue your Wyvern in peace. Keep in mind that bombs removed in this way respawn pretty quickly, but it should be plenty of time for you to pull a Wyvern.

The second thing to note is Vouivre. He's a Wyvern NM, and it doesn't seem like anyone bothers to kill him. Most likely, he will be sitting there staring at you while you kill his relatives. For some reason, he neither links nor aggros, so just leave him alone. Just make sure you don't accidentally pull him by mistake!
Five Wyverns

I solo'd these as RDM with the Sleep > Nuke method.

On the 5th one it dropped, which mad me extremely happy, cause I thought it would have took 4 hours.

Got into a sticky suitation once where a bomb aggro'd me when I was pulling a wyvern with Gravity, but I slept both the bomb and wyvern and logged out.

Because so many people have trouble finding them, I made a map. Its not a very nice looking map, but it does the job.

Camped these things last night for skull with BRD 75, DRG 75 (me), DRG 65, WHM 71, DRK 75, MNK 75. We had no tank but it was still easy to kill them. XP with empress ring was 50-100/kill. Dispelga sucks, Vouivre doesn't link or aggro, bombs were a slight hassle but made it interesting, camp was extremely easy to get to. Takes 5 mins as someone mentioned. Drop rate on skulls sucked big time though. We were there for like 4 hours and only 2 skulls dropped although we needed 5. Really didn't want to have to come back here again but oh well, at least it's xp.

what pet does a bst use to make this "very easy" takes like 6 bats to kill one wyvern with tons of bombs around you. plus this guy nukes you hard while swapping pets. i've killed as a 75 bst, but i wouldn't raelly call it easy

Just killed TT with a WAR70/NIN35, BRD70/WHM35, NIN70/WAR35 and RDM72/BLM36..

Killed TT with no drop ._.' and thought we'd come and kill a few of these for the brds crown.

After searching around because none of us had any idea where the spawn points where, we found one, I pull it, we kill it, got Skull from first drop :D

Pretty lucky really :3

solo'd a bunch of these as blm75/rdm trying for a skull drop. unfortuanately i haven't had much luck with the drop, but the wyverns themselves are pretty easy. they have around 4,500 hp. the best (maybe only) camp seems to be the narrow path near where voivre hangs out. a bomb pops close by that can come into aggro range, but can be avoided or just killed if a problem.

I've been farming these lately for wings, skins and scales as BRD/BST. Drop rate ain't too good, but it's quite fun to kill these things. Already got my Crown quite some time ago, so now I'm just having fun tossing skulls =p
Maybe I should switch to Nightmare Bats and try to get some Dragon Blood. Or maybe try and camp Tarasque. {Adventure} {Yes, please.}

These wyverns are pretty wussy. My boyfriend soloed one as a brd75/nin31. He was kinda supposed to die for my sake, but he actually killed it -_- and it didn't take him that long either. maybe 15-20 mins. So after his intitial uber-solo, we started duoing them for his skull, as a 75whm/blm37 and 75brd/nin31, never came close to dying except one bad occasion where I hexa striked it for over 500 >.> But whms are squishy. So these are easy to kill without a proper tank if you have some form of sleep and one of the following: blink/stoneskin/utsusemi.

Oh, and if you wanna camp bomb-free, go to the opposite side you entered, where there's a small ledge and a raptor on the other side. No bombs anywhere near there, free pulling. No lizards on that side either, so you can use -ga. ^^

These are Soloable BLm lvl 73+. I'm saying lvl 73+ only because I was level 73 at the point in time where I was soloing them. Pulling these can be trickly since bombs are nearby but once you find a comfortable camp just cast sleep on the Wyverns and return to camp as they will go to you 15-30 seconds from you casting the spell. After that I recommend sleeping, then casting slow+para as it makes this much easier to solo. I died twice getting my feel for this but ended up walking away with 5k more xp than what I started with. These are decent xp for something you can solo although the drop rate for the skull was pretty bad in my case as it took around 20 Wyverns til my skull dropped. But if anyone is up for the challenge its pretty fun.

Soloed these as 74 nin for my skull, pretty easy to get there just take the right entrance to ifrits caulderon and go right, after the flame sprout go straight till u get the the center and drop down on the left side. After the drop there is a tunnel right where u drop go in that tunnel and follow it straight up to the wyverns.

A guide to the location of these would be handy I must say, Ifrit's Cauldron isn't a nice/cheap place to be lost in.

/em casts his fishing line out and waits for a bite.

There are a large horde of these surrounding the Vouivre site in Ifrit's Cauldron. It's pretty cool to see so many dragons in one place.

3 hours, about 7 skulls, and we had Treasure Hunter 2. It also takes about 30 minutes of travelling to reach the camp for these things. Make sure at least one person brings an ice cluster as you must pass through one flame spout. Everyone must bring their own powder and oil, as ifrit's cauldron is no joke of magic/sight/sound aggro and recasting magic can lead to deaths.

These things love to do massive dispellga (usually between 2-3 effects are removed per attack) followed up by dread shriek, which paralyzes everyone in an AOE. For this reason it is smart for everyone in the alliance to sub WHM, so they can cure their own paralysis. Bring echo drops, too, as radiant breath silences you.

Other than that there's nothing to fighting these guys. They don't link, Vouivre doesn't aggro or link, and you just have to beat on him until he's dead. We had 16 people level 69-75, no proper tank, and it was still easy. It is nice to have DRKs or BLMs to stun the occasional Bomb in the way, as always.
