Attaining the Holy Phial
# Nov 28 2004 at 3:54 AM Rating: Decent
I had an experience pretty similar. I decided to camp Ge'Dha Evileye 34RDM/17BLM but needed some help, so I got a group of friends to come to Beadeaux and fight the NM. Upon arriving, there was a party of 5 gil farmers surrounding the spawn area. Quite frustrated, me and my friends killed the Old Quadav placeholders until he spawned. Once he spawned I managed to claim him with dia before the gil hunters saw him. After killing him, there was no phial.

My friends decided to leave, but I was determined to get the holy phial. I found another group of people willing to lend me a hand and we went to Beadeaux and found that the same group of gil hunters were there. This time we were unable to claim the NM and the gil hunters continued to taunt us about it. Soon after, my friends called it a night and I was left alone. But luckily a high level friend of mine said he would come mess with the gil hunters that were causing a problem for me. We camped for about 4 hours but the NM did not pop, the gil hunters waited with us. At that point, I decided I would call it a night and come back another day.

The following night, me and a high level RDM friend of mine decided we would try to get the phial before the gil hunters. We went to Beadeaux and saw the same group of gil hunters camping Ge'Dha Evileye. We began to taunt them trying to throw their attention off the NM, and right then he popped. I saw it first and attempted to claim it with Dia. Unfortunately, a miscast!! My heart started to race and one of the gil hunters turned around to Chi Blast the NM. Somehow, I hit my Dia macro again and it worked quicker than the gil hunters! I claimed the mob but I was much too weak to defeat it. My friend the RDM came running over and quickly took care of it. As the NM died, the holy phial popped up in the box and I was amazed. 10 minutes of camping and I got the holy phial, which I spent days battling for.

The Holy Phial doesn't seem very rare, as most people say they get it on the first or second kill. But I suggest to anyone thinking of camping Ge'Dha Evileye, watch for the gil hunters, they are nasty and will do anything to prevent you from claiming this NM. It is _heavily_ camped.

Alright long story here...

Yesterday as I am sitting in Jeuno with nothing to do (as usual), what I thought was a random person began to talk to me. We conversed for a while when he told me who it was, an old LS friend that I hadn't seen in AGES. After some discussion he said that he had been camping the Phial for days unsuccesfully, due to a group of people who had him camped every time he went.

Seeing as I had nothing else to do, and I was feeling very generous (just got my AF3 ^^), I told him I would help him camp it. He seemed reluctant, but agreed. We got there, and lo and behold, there were about 5 people, all DRG, all wearing the exact same armor, camping him in various positions. It was looking bleak at this point.

When these people realized we were here to challenge their claim they began using underhanded tactics to defeat us, namely, training Quads to us, parking their wyverns right next to us, etc. My friend and I were exchanging frustrations back and forth when he popped not 10 feet away from me. I fumbled with my Stun macro, but sadly lost the claim to one of the others =(

We were feeling pretty discouraged after this, but opted for one more attempt. The other group had ran off somewhere, so we were feeling pretty confident. My friend said it was about an hour spawn, so we bashed the heads of some various Quads while we waited.

Well after ~50 mins, the group returned to find us valiantly opposing their monopoly, and were not amused. They decided to take it up a notch. In addition to the aforementioned dirty tactics, one began sending me tells like "Where are you from?", "How old are you?", "Whats your name?" etc. Being the nice guy I am I answered the first question, but then realized he was just trying to distract me, so I /blist and go back to camping. It was not about the phial anymore, but defeating these asshats. It was personal.

Soon enough, he pops in the exact same location as last time. I tab over as fast as I can (had to tab, there were about 5 quads and 2 wyverns withing 1/2 a foot of me -.-), highlight him, and smash my Stun macro. As I watch the %casting bar rise closer to 100, praying Ill beat the DRG running at the NM, I can feel my heart pumping harder and harder. Longest Stun cast time EVER. the bar hits 100% and I see his name turn red. I am thrilled, yet somewhat frightened. I know I can kill the NM with ease, but I am worried about the inevitable anger of the asshats and the trains they might bring. I bind, and lay into him with lvl 3 spells. After 1 spell, he uses Benediction, and 2 more take him down!

My victory is complete, but what of my friend? I look at the drop box, and there it is, the phial. My friend is ecstatic, /cheering and /hurraying about 20 times in succession ^^. He pops up the trade window, puts in 20k (1/2 the price) and hits ok. I cancel the trade, saying "This is your day, friend. Thwarting those asshats was enough for me." We then proceeded to taunt the other grp for 5 mins, doing /point friend, /s {Please check it}

Total spoils:
1 holy phial
6 defeated asshats
unlimited free teleports from friend ;)

I've been camping this guy for a good two days now.

First try I claimed him, got some outside help from some nice guys camping Zo'Khu Blackcloud, and owned him. He isn't all too hard as a Lv42 RDM. That time, however, I didn't get the phial, which is what I was after. I had to go, so I decided to come back the next day.

I get there, wait a couple spawns killing Old Quadavs, gathering a couple helms, feeling pretty good. He spawns! I quickly pull him with my Silence macro and start whacking away at him. Everything's going great until one of his Old Quadav friends decides to gang up on me. No big deal, I think, and I sleep him and continue my fight. Then, out of the blue, another friend of Mr. Evileye comes over to play. About now I'm thinking I'm not gonna make it, and suddenly, Old Foogey #1 wakes up. I promptly get owned by their combined power.

A little distraught, I build up courage and return to Beadeaux. Of course, when I return to the spawn point, he's gone. So I start slaughtering Quadavs mercelessly in a fit of rage. I continue my rampage until pop! Ge'Dha Evileye, my arch-nemesis, spawns right next to me. This time, I was ready. His friends were all dead, and no one could help him. It was a long battle, but in the end I came out victorious with Holy Phial in hand.

If you're gonna camp this guy, be patient, and kill of Old Quadavs, those are his placeholders. The Holy Phial drop seems kinda common, since I got it on my second kill. Good luck and happy hunting!

wow...i'm 42 and had a 7 minute battle with this baddy and it was sweet... 3days i'm camping him and "Edgymonkey" on the ifrit server never leaves the area, nor does he log off (he's chinese so tell him "wo cao ni ma!" for me if you see him) and this dude does nothing to clear the area... I get the claim 2 times out of like 7 sightings, and BOTH times, Evileye disengages from me. No joke. His name is red, he's blinded and took a bliz2 from me weak ***, and decides he's bored and would rather be voked instead of hit with my Oak Staff again... /sigh... So i give up... Then I /sea all edgymonkey and he's in the dunes, so I'm chocoing as fast as I can to Beadeaux, get there and no one is camping. Figuring he just spawned, I light a cigarette cause I'm Muted, wait about 5 mins, then clear the area. I'm standing in the middle when Evileye spawns...blind macro him and his name turns red just as some galka comes around the corner...
And now the real story here (bout I had to vent my frustrations first)
So Evileye misses me 7 times over the first miniute or so, but the 3 hits he lads take 200HP off me, so i drain, aspir..., and decided it's time to bind him becasue his magic ain't doin much, it's the club that's killin me... Then there I am, item list open, and see I forgot my hi-potions >< So now I'm sweating waiting for drain to come back, casue even with 250point magic hits, I'm barely denting this guy... Bind wears off, he's charging, I got him down to 1/4 HP, when WTF?!?! some crazy benediction that blasts me (did no one mention that before or do I suck at reading?) and he's 100% again vs. my 134 MP. Sweating again, I bind, back off, cast 2 II spells and aspir him before whipping out manafont. At this point, I started at the top of the list: Fire, Fire 2, Bliz, Bliz 2, etc. I just spammed everything to get him back to less than a 1/4HP. I drain once more as he charges off the bind again and take a crit hit that does 200 damage.... My last bliz2 did the job tho literally a second before the hammer stuck me again. I walked about with 20MP, 120HP, and the holy phial.
So it was the greatest battle I've ever been in ^^ lasted forever and got the drop. I am never going back to beadaux now. ever. Hipotions woulda made it easy (or maybe not having 15THF subbed on 42BLM), But owning this guy? I wish I was a RDM....nah, i take that back: no i don't ^^

I have Fought Evileye five times now...
I am not a thief nor do i have thief subbed.
I originally started camping him to get the Phial however ended up buying it instead. Now I am camping Zo Khu Blackcloud because I want the shield badly and cannot afford to buy it so while i am awaiting Blackclouds spawn I grab evileye if i see him.

The first time I killed him... no drop.
Second time, well he killed me... oops
Third Time... Faerie Tunica
Fourth & Fifth... Holy Phial

Hunting

Me, lvl 51 RDM, and my lvl 50 WHM freind hunt this guy all the time, we have killed him over 60 times, gotten the phial about 40-50 times, very fun NM to kill. You can hunt for Garnet Quadav's for Mauls, good shop seller, for around 2k, and hunt Blackcloud at the same time. Evileye spawns in place of the Old Quadav's. The Old quadav's spawn every 10 mins from there last spawn on the dot, like most other mob's. In the meantime I just bind pugils and up my archery skills by shooting at them. Well, whatever your way to hunt have fun, Evileye is one of my favorite to hunt.

camped evil eye today along with a 45drk. we killed olds, coppers, and brass quadavs while waiting for a spawn. we accidently aggroed a iron quadav, which linked with an old, 2 coppers, and a brass. we managed to take care it go back to the spot where evil eye spawns, and lo and behold there he was. but we werent ready to fight him after the last fight. so we go back through camping the olds primarly, then after an hour starting pulling garnets from the top. after a few garnets evil eye spawned.

i silenced him right off the bat, it stuck and the fight was a breeze, he used benediction when he had 10% health, but it didnt matter, the drk had already torn through him no problem and i had only had the chance to debuff him.

got the phial drop 1st time, no treasure hunder 1 or 2
Evil Eye
# Jul 06 2004 at 7:38 AM Rating: Decent
I camped this guy last night with my 50 BLM while i was waiting in between Blackcloud spawns. The Old quadovs in the area are placeholders for him, so kill them and Evil Eye will spawn pretty regularly, around about 1hr 10 min from last pop. I'm a taru, so i only have 518 HP and all i can say is wow, he's huge. I blasted him with aerogaII then freeze, had him down to like 10% health, at which point he immediately used Benediction and went back up to full. I had used 4/5 of my MP and was in real trouble. I had to Manafont, do the same thing again, then use teh WS Starlight to give me back enough mana to fire off one last ThunderII (manafont had run out before i could get it off). If it hadn't been for my Weapon skill, i would have died. But I got the Phial and the shield from blackcloud, so i was happy.

ok i decided to go for this just for the heck of it. i had just bought one a few days b4 and wanted my money back. so i get to the place rather easy as a 58 blm with no map. i get there and oh look the NM is already there so im pretty happy at the time but i have that stupid silence on so i cant get it right now. after a few mins of waiting and still silence some BST comes in and steals him away!. so i stuck around for about a hour and half and he pops. i grabed him and walla! Holy Phial!! YAY!
#REDACTED, Posted: May 21 2004 at 10:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) so the holy phial is the rarest item he drops??

So i'm just going to ask.

WHERE ON THE MAP DOES HE SPAWN AT?

Just killed him last night (no drop).

He spawns right in the area where the map above marks it. The intersection of E-F/10-11. There's a small area with 2 pugils and 3-4 quadavs. I believe he can spawn in place of any of the quadavs in that small area.
my luck...
# May 10 2004 at 8:07 PM Rating: Decent
I have horrid luck with this guy so far...

1st spawn: I had just gotten into the area that he spawns in, still silenced from having to get past the curse machine, and he pops before silence wears off... Rather then letting him get stolen, I decide to take the chance and start fighting him. Around the time he uses Benediction, silence still wasnt down and I found myself using convert to save my life. Shortly after, he kills me, I delevel, and some whm comes in, kills him, and was nice enough to raise me...

2nd spawn: After sitting there for about an hour killing other things for helm drops, he pops again, with several other quadav near him. I grab him with Dia and manage to avioid a link. After about a min, 2 other quadav pop near the fight, and link. I try and sleep them, and each time it gets inturrupted. Then i died.

3rd spawn: Another hour passes, and he pops again. This time, nothing in the area. When a quadav poped, I managed to pull him back to avoid a link. When he benied, another quadav linked, I wasnt too worried about this as I had nearly full mp and hp. Then, tragedy strikes. I accidently hit disengage... Then some jp pld flashes him and steals my kill. Now there was a jp party around killing him, and about 4 other quadav killing me... I try to run, and die...

/sigh

At least my LS said they would help me get a Phial off this guy some day...

Any day
# May 08 2004 at 12:15 AM Rating: Good
No, I can indeed verify that he'll spawn on any day. ^^; I'm not sure why you had so many problems encountering him, but my friends and I have fought him maybe up to 10 times now. The quickest we've seen him spawn is 1.5 hours, and the longest was 3 hours. We usually just ignored the other quads in the area and only killed the two old at the same time. (Resultingly, they also repopped at the same time, each time.) When he does spawn, he'll pop with only one old quad. Out of the 10 or so times I fought him, we only got the phial once and never got the tunic. We did get multiple scrolls of Invis and Deodorize, however. -_-

And, he IS level 30 (you can tell by the exp he gives you), but like all NMs his stats are way higher than a level 30 mob. It's best to treat him as level 35. As for soloing him, my friend was soloing him as a 40 WHM. It's very dangerous that way, though. ^^

Well, good luck all! It was this guy that made me understand just how much I hate NM camping.

I tried camping Ge'Dha about a month ago, and I knew to kill the Old Quadavs. I was also in the right place, but I swear for five hours he didn't spawn... I don't believe I was waiting there on Lightsday at any point.

Last night my friends decided a few of them wanted the tunic, and they knew I wanted the phial, so they brought me along.

It just happened to be lightsday -- after a few rounds of the Quadavs in that area, he spawned and I got the phial.

Considering that the previous time I killed EVERYTHING in sight for 5 hours and never once saw him (even on wide scan, AND keeping my eye on other campers that were nearby and waiting), I honestly believe he ONLY appears on lightsday. But it is likely that he might appear more than once during lightsday.

So I'm not camping him again unless it's near to or on lightsday. Thanks for the tips. :9

Interesting things, Linkshells and message boards. Funny how word gets out about people who can't handle competition. I quote:

Quote:
Man oh man what a night it was. We camped Evileye for possibly the last time in a long time, but it wasn't fun. Another camper, the mithra SAM/THF named Cezzle, was there too. She'd been there the previous time we'd fought him too (2 hours prior. We fought Ge'Dha Evileye twice today), but we were the ones to fight him. We told her and the other Samurai (a very friendly guy named Maxi...something ) about how he was a lottery from the Old Quads and needed about an hour and a half to two hours before he'd respawn again. When we got there this second time and Cezzle was camping him again, she immediately said (in /shout no less) to not kill Evileye, because she'd been standing there killing the olds for two hours. I replied to her in /tell saying "I'm sorry, but we've devoted three entire days in a row now to hunting him. We're just trying to earn a phial for Kib. ^^" She immediately gets snappy with me, complaining about how it's not fair since she'd been here first. I just replied with "Why did you stay here killing the olds for two hours? I told you earlier that he won't spawn again until the time was up." Before I could even finish typing the /tell, she was /slapping me. She continued arguing that he was just a pop of the Olds, etc, etc.

It continued at much the same pace. It wasn't much longer before she was calling me an ******* among other very rude things.

...

Ge'Dha (we're on a first name basis now) finally spawned right behind me. I turned around and threw out a provoke to claim him. Kib ran up and we began fighting. Cezzle ran up to us for a moment and stood there while we fought, but then ran off. Around the time Ge'Dha used his Benediction, Cezzle returned. But she wasn't alone. She'd collected a rather large train of stronger quads from the upper levels behind her, and ran them right between me and Ge'Dha (obviously trying to get them to link and start killing us). She stopped right there and started [Possible bug exploit explanation removed to prevent further abuse], trying to make them turn on us. I keep on fighting and watch all of them continually pummel her. A sturmwind later, Ge'Dha hits the ground and we win a Phial. Kib quickly lots and and I start killing the Old Quadav that had linked with Ge'Dha when I first pulled him. Cezzle was still being pummeled, desperately trying to get the quads off her now. As soon as the phial reached Kibb's inventory, I told her to start casting Teleport Dem. (The old quad was only half dead.) A few seconds later, the quad dies, we get a helmet, and Cezzle drops to the ground dead. The higher quads immediately turn towards us and start attacking/casting spells. Half a second later we're at the Crag of Dem with a Phial in hand.

Cezzle, Cezzle.... funny, that sounds familiar.

Just a word of warning to decent players. Some players will readily try to see you dead if you beat them to a spawn, won't help out if you get linked, and/or hurl abuse at you. Thankfully though, most of my camping rivals have shown themselves to be decent folk (or at least keep to themselves without being a bother), and I will come to their aid if needed even if they beat me to the spawn.

Back to the NM details: Out of 5 attempts, I've had one link-death, a scroll, 2 tunics and finally a phial. The phial should be considered a rare drop.

iv'e fought him about 5 times. got the fairy tunic the first time and holy phials the rest. spawn time is 2hours and like 5 mins, iv'e timed it. iv'e never gotten a scroll from it. and on the fairy server the holy phail is worth 30k. Tunic is worth 20k. and if u just run about 3 mins left of where he spawns another nm spawns and drops parrying knife or scimitar.
