I just soloed this guy as a MNK30/WAR15. Equips are: Cougar Baghnakhs, Attar of Roses, Compound Eye Circlet, Reraise Earring (Not used), Mercenary's Gi, Battle Gloves, Windurstian Ring, Emperor Band, Purple Belt, Mercenary's Sitabaki, Mercenary's Kyahan. I brought along a Hi-Potion +1. I Boosted 6 times, used Dodge, and Focus. Spawned Guardian Treant and began the fight. At about 2/3 HP I used the Potion for safety. Hit Hundred Fists, then Comboed it. Fought for a bit, Comboed again, and just fought till it died. Had 290/613HP at the end of the fight.
Soloed this as a 49thf/24nin, was a bit rocky but took him down. It attacks pretty fast so shadows went down pretty quick, hits for about 40-50. Had to use quite a few bloody bolts to keep myself up, did get me down about halfway before I started bolting my HP back up. Very managable...but make sure you bring some bloody bolts and blind bolts (didn't have any blinds with me, but i'm sure if I did I could have kept shadows up more regularly).
I don't know if you'd be able to solo it. The player who posted below you died the first time, but succeded the 2nd time as MNK/DNC. I'd play it on the safe side and bring someone a bit higher then you to assist you. I'm sure there will be someone who's bored out of their mind and looking for something to destroy like I was last night. If you have Aht Urgan available, try /shouting there for help, or Lower Jeuno. No harm + no foul if you bring a 2nd player. :) I remember when I was raising my Samurai and I went to do this NM. A Level 75 Samurai came along and beat this thing to woodchips. He made it look easy, but I wouldn't have risked it on MY samurai alone. I don't have a death wish.
I don't know what server you are on but if anyone is on Fenrir and needs help with this, give Redpage a /tell. I'd gladly help you out. :)
i just tried this as a galka 36 mnk/dnc i died but i'm gonna try again cause i think its doable. the mistake i made was using my tp on a combo cause i though that would finish it but it bary scratched the thing. update if i succeed. gonna wait for my warp cudgel to be ready again so it'll be at least 20 hours. comparable to the forger fight it hit for about half of what forger hit for but more often at a varying attack speed sometimes having up to 4 attacks at a time. its accuracy was pretty poor but i had dodge on most the time. i was only hitting in 20s a hit so its a longer fight but i got it down to about 1/3 left so i'm gonna try again then update this.
well just tried again and won, i saved dodge and focus till i was about out of tp and seemed like it started hitting harder cause i was keep hp up fine then all of a sudden i was at half hp then i hit dodge, focus and tried to heal a bit then was about out of tp so hit hundred fists and won.
one other comment is i wouldn't recomend outpost warping there at this lvl its in the middle of a bunch of incredibly tough mobs i'd reccomend chocoboing from mea or jeuno and if you're having trouble finding the tree the theres sort of a tunnel in the north part of k10 and then the tree is at l9
I just soloed him as WHM59/BLM29 w/o any problem. It was a pretty simple fight. He had abt 2000 HP. I just killed Ancient Bats near the ??? to build TP to 300%. Then did normal buffs of Protect III, Shell III, Blink, & Stoneskin, then spawned the NM. I hit him with some simple enfeebs, and swung away w/ my Blessed Hammer opening w/ a Seraph Strike WS for 355 dmg and then spamming Fire (82~83 dmg) and Firaga (177 dmg). When Stoneskin did go down, he did hit pretty hard with some critical hits in the 60's and 70's.
I was a little worried going into this fight after reading all the lvl 40-48 people who had a hard time with this guy. I figured I'd try with my lvl 41 SMN, and I could always run if it came down to it. The fight was kinda like a weak avatar fight (solo 20). I cast Ifrit 4 times total. Three Double Punches and an Inferno at 25% finished him off. The Treant doesn't do enough damage to your ol red friend to get too worried, and you have plenty of space to run back to recast. I took one Yagudo Drink and used when I hit AF. Other than that, he hit me about three times for maybe 60-80 damage total.
I think it's kinda funny no one ever solos anything as a bard and posts about it. BUT, I'm going to try and solo this bad boy. I was able to solo DRG flag NM and lived to post about it at... I think @ 48, but you can check my post on it to be sure. The other NM for sam flag seems easy enough as it's a 33 mob. I'll keep you posted. (No pun intended)
Yeah it didn't happen... ah well. lol. I figured this guys probably harder than forger, forger wiped me after soul voice double paeon and redebuffs. Could have just been my skill in sword, but I missed one too many times. Almost had him but died with forger almost dead... best estimate he had about 2% hp left. One hit I watched him die after I died from requiem/dia/poison.
I just did this for two people as SMN49/WHM24. Ifrit: Crimson Howl, then Double Punch (did around 619).
After Double Punch, he just smacked the mob around a few more times and it was over.
I buffed the party of 3 with Stoneskin, Hastega, Aerial Armor, Protect 1, Shell 1, and Barfira. All of it was up at the end of the fight, nothing had dropped or been used up. Nobody got hit. No cures were needed. Was at half mp at the end of the fight due to using the two Bloodpacts and about 15 seconds of keeping Ifrit out. Cake. I think the damage done by the two level 30 friends in the party was negligable compared to Ifrit, so i count this as being solo.
Have fun! (Imagine doing this with a Yagudo Drink at level 30SMN...solo. I bet it can be done!)

Solo'ed this guy with a RDM 50 BLM 24.Protect III, Stoneskin, Phalanx, Shell 2, Haste, Blaze Spikes, Enfire up owned in a few minutes, basically fight buff him with Paralyze, Slow and Bind; Bio 2 & Poison II optional :):No food.End fight 409/738 hp and 191/538 mp, no cure only buff and elemental spells (Aero II (1 time), Fire II (2 times).I think is a lev 40.
Pretty easy. First built up to 300% tp by killing weak mobs, then attacked it and used berserk warcry mighty strikes and rampage. Still, this can do some damage, hits hard and quick, and extremely difficult to keep utsu: ichi up. It only took abt 8 melee rounds before it died, and it had shaved off 300 hp out of 1200 in the process.
I killed it as Hume DRG 60/WAR 30 for a Galka MNK 30/WAR 15(?). I brought 6 Hi Potions, but didn't need them - didn't even come close to needing them. I suspect a non-Taru (sorry) DRG 60 could easily solo this NM.
Hi everyone, I was wonderin if i can do it like this, use the hatchet to cut the branch then the Guardian Treant comes out. Can i maybe cut the branch hurry up and trade the item with the ??? and die will that work because i cant get anyone to help me out with my samurai quest and the first time we tried we all got murked. We brought it down 75% and then we all died so i was wonderin if i can just trade it really quick and then fight i dont kno if it will work
I took this on solo as a 47 Thf/Nin. My strategy: Use acid/sleep/bloody/blind bolts for the usual, cast Utsusemi at recast and sleep/SA when possible.
So I pop the thing and it actually takes quite a few tries to eat my shadows. The problem is, sleep bolts wont hit it at all. My marksmanship is not capped, but I know it's in the lower 40's because it's capped during BCNM40's and Ballista.
So it eats all shadows, I go to recast and it interrupts me. I try again, it hits me and interrupts again. I try again, same thing. So now I'm at about 45% HP and it's probably close to 60. This is where I freak out and start spamming bloody bolts. Surprisingly, almost all of them hit it and my TP starts gaining fast. After a while it finally gets low and I finish it off with 50% HP or so remaining.
So, to any 47 Thf's that want to solo this, BRING BLOODY BOLTS and you should do just fine. (Also try not to freak out if everything doesn't go as planned.)
I keep hearing how everyone is soloing it. That's nice and all, but I'm in Hydra server (360 beta). If all the lv 50's are greedy jp. players who charge you 50,000G for help, how is anyone supposed to do it? The only samurai in our server right now are jp. Is it possible to do it as a party?
Heh.. I was on Hydra. I gathered up 18 NA players (nobody over 35) and we smashed this tree to pieces. 12-16 Mighty Strikes going off at once looks oh so pretty.

I just beat the Treant in a party of three, myself as a lv 30MNK, and with a 40BLM and 43PLD. It was a cakewalk - over almost before it started. I'd been a bit leery because of all the posts here saying it's so hard for a 50 to solo, but for a party it's pretty easy. I'd say if you can get a few friends in their 30s it'll be over before you know it.
For those who don't want to solo, two friends and myself just took him easily; I'm 30MNK/15WAR, and had a 43PLD/21WAR and 40BLM/20RDM with me. The hardest part was getting there after our chocobos timed out because they had to wait a bit for me. The Treant was easy-peasy, and we hardly dipped into the yellow even with the BLM's healing skill undercapped. The whole fight was over in about a minute.
As the title indicated, I just soloed this as a Tarutaru RDM50/BLM25 in order to complete the SAM Quest, and it was exceedingly easy. Here's a rundown of my strategy:
Buffs: Protect III, Shell II, Refresh, Blink, Stoneskin, Phalanx, Ice Spikes, Enfire, Haste. Debuffs: Blind, Slow, Paralyze, Rasp, Bio II. Items: Tavnazian Taco, Yagudo Drink Skills: Sword 112, Evasion 107, Parrying 71, Shield 83, Enhancing 143, Enfeebling 151, Elemental 136.
Ate the Taco and cast Protect & Shell, then recovered to full MP. After that, began casting remaining buffs and used the Yagudo Drink to avoid spending any more MP before the fight.
After spawning the Treant, just pasted it with all the debuffs then slogged away at it. Proved to be very very easy - although the attack speed was high, the low accuracy (both natural and from debuffs) combined with high trigger rate of Paralyze caused it to do very little damage. It caused so little damage in fact, that Stoneskin did not drop until it was down to around 5% HP. Could have easily wasted it with Fire II but opted to not use any elemental magic for the entire fight, and simply recaste stoneskin and finished it off. I'd estimate that the entire fight lasted around 3-3.5 minutes (judging by wearoff of timed buffs).
Think that pretty much sums it up - if anyone has any further questions, please post a reply. ^^
I tried to take him just now as whm50/blm25 buffed up and rested fully before fight, his attacks are fast but no biggie, he slows and paralyzes easily. still..he hits about as hard as you do with af weapon and has a helluva lot more hp than you can stand up to >.< ..ended up having to stoneskin->warp->crying in a corner next time I'm bringing a rdm friend and going as whm/nin
i solod this guy as a 59blm/29whm with stoneskin and blink up using an ivory sickle i started off using just melee and trying to recast stoneskin and blink but he has like a natural hundred fists so everything was interupted and my melees were only doing around 80-90 dmg each so im like ***** this so i used bind then nuked did this like 3 times with freeze tho i had to use manafont so he had me down to like 1/3 health so if your a blm going to fight him use bind then nuke cuz sleep wont work on him
I jist soloed him as a 54Rdm/26Blm with out really ne problems. jus cast aquaveil andyou should have no problem rebuffing and healing during thefight. note: i dont have phalanx and i still didjust fine wit protect 3 stone skin and blink. took meto cure 4s and 1 cure3 to stay aout of yellow. never hit red life. iused enfire and ice spike to increase dambage and burning blade seems to be the best weapon skill to use on it. hope this helps ne rdms planning on soloing this fight.

First of all, make sure you choco there unless you're level 60 or above. The leeches and funguars checked to EP, and the one Golem I saw was DC.
There are two targets on the huge tree at the right spot. One is unlabeled, and the other is ???. Use the hatchet on the ??? while standing on the rock below it to spawn the treant.
Food was Tavnazian Taco, and I used a Yagudo Drink when I hit 90 MP, just to be on the safe side.
He hit me for 10-20 per, but there were a lot of criticals for 40-50. Just buff with Protect/Shell and use your best offensive gear. I had a Tactician Magician's Espadon +1 (which is cheaper than the normal one for some reason) and I would recommend this over the Honor Sword. Just Flash and Cure III like you normally would and remember to trade the Sacred Sprig to the ??? after he's dead.
i went in thinkin yeye im lvl50 this guy looks easy... i traded the sprig and it popped, then it was hitting me for about 50 eaach hit and it attacks fast.. i was like WTF? and i looked up and i didnt c any of my buffs except signet.. i had low mp too, i wuda died if it wasnt for that high lvl thf that showed the ??? point, i cuda taken it if i had buffed up first^^ and thanks to that theif who helped me
