4 years of camping and you are only 1/5? Im jealous on one front, and on another Im just boggled. I am 0/7 on him now and I cant say that I have ever seriously camped the lil buggar. How do you camp something for 4 years and only have 5 claims? o.o

Anyways, congrats on the drop! After 4 years, regardless of claim ratio, Im sure you was shaking in your seat to see the charm drop :)
# Aug 02 2007 at 10:05 PM Rating: Decent
lol my ratio is 5/7 cus im not a rabid JEJ camper i just spend 5 mins tops waitin to see him pop so its just luck lol

# Jul 14 2007 at 9:36 PM Rating: Decent
how long is the spawn time on JEJ?
im currently 0/1
spawn time
# Jul 19 2007 at 8:57 AM Rating: Decent
In my experience, the spawn time is about once per hour. To get this, though, you have to be killing all rabbits in the region circled on the map. That way, it gets a chance to spawn. Also, be aware that every so often, the fungus beetle might spawn instead of JEJ. He appears right above the circled region on the right side. This could make it seem like it's not a one-hour pop, so don't be fooled. I'm about 0/20 at this point, though I've only been using 20 thf/ 10 rng. The drop rate is horrible, so I've decided it's really only worth it if you have one or two THF2.
Edit : another drop =P so lucky me

Another Crackpot Theory for the Soul
# Jun 27 2007 at 10:14 PM Rating: Decent
Heres what i think about drop rates in all actuality. Drop rates are already prgramed into all NM's on the game. Of course we know this because we have assumed drop rate Percentages. Now, what i believe makes te difference in the NM dropping the item or being a selfish a-hole, is not really the percentage, but the program in itself. This meaning that when the monster spawns, it spawns out of a in-game system of roulettes whether it will drop or not.

(ex: watersday 12:54 Jadexx kills Jaggedy-Eared Jack
You find a rabbit charm on Jaggedy-Eared Jack
Jadexx obtains a rabbit charm.)

Then of course Jadexx runs about bragging to all his buddies n campers.
But later on...

(ex: 3 game days later: Vivicoo defeats Jaggedy-Eared Jack... blah blah
Vivicoo obtains a rabbit hide.

(ex: 2 game days later: Gividan defeats JEJ... blah blah

(ex: 2-3 game days later: Jackfights defeats JEJ... blah blah
Jackfights may or may not get the charm

So... hopefully i have gotten it clearly out of thought that.. yes percentage rate matters when the moob counts... but only if it is the programmed roulette NM. or... unless you can take this crackpot theory, shove it and go with this one... tat when the mob pops... youre drop percentage is rouletted instantly after the kill and if you fall within the 1-5%, then good luck for you you bastid.

PS: Of course this is another way to look at some of the twisted **** SE thought of. we'll never understand them /c they are asses. and if we do ACTUALLY get the theory right one day.. they'll just change it
Never have too see him again

Well.. heres my llittle tale...

So i begin camping this guy LFP as THF45/NIN22 soetime around 10pm. Killing all the silly rabbits for about 2 hrs... some guy runs up, kills it, gets the charm. I tell him that that was pretty frustrating, but still... im happy for him. he says that TH2 does make a difference and that he has seen it drop 2 consecutive spawns. knowing wat i do about this ****** rabbit, i doubt him and tell him that GL! im busy!. so i continue camping him.. growing weary as ever of killing sensless bunnies and having 2k stacks of rabbit hides, 2+ hrs later... theres the lil bugger sitting right beside me. Unconfindent as ever, i SA+ viperbite him killing him in one blow for a <too weak> dmg of 297, JEJ falls to the grond helplessly with this message following...

Exes defeats Jaggedy-Eared Jack
You find a rabbit charm on Jaggedy-Eared
Exes obtains a rabbit charm.

So i scream, celebrate with a feint cry knowing that i have victoriously gotten VE,LL and now this looser. woot! GL to all campers. 1/14

i did have enough courtesy leaving a note by his body that read: Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids. woot!
# Jun 08 2007 at 4:39 PM Rating: Decent
You been in the right area maybe you lost JEJ and didnt know.. but i do this:
Daytime: kill JEJ and then come back after 1:30 or "sometimes" 2 hours
Night time: kill JEJ and comeback after 2:30 .. maybe 3 hours because at night nobody is there killing things that help you to pop it.

record: 2/24 still..

THF with TH is very needed here, the 2 drops i had was with a THF with TH1 (friends acc)

Without THF ufff : everytime i kill JEJ with no TH .. only thing i see is :
.... defeats Jaggedy-Eared Jack. soo i started lving my THF that is now lv11 =P
just 4 more lvs.. and hope to see at least a rabbit hide =\

After a year of playing the game I finally received the drop. I was camping the Fungus Beetle yesterday, and there was a 9BRD there who asked me to PL him. So I did for a little while, and we start discussing JeJ. We decided that if we see him, we'll team up and kill it since he is to low a level to do it alone and since I was looking for the beetle. Anyways, JeJ pops, the BRD invites me, and we kill it and finally get the drop. We both cast lots on it, but the BRD gets it, however he gave me 200k for my half of the charm. I still want the charm for myself so it's not over with, however, it's nice to finally see the drop after a long time. :)

0/1 thus far. I was bored and decided to go camp JEJ at 1am. heh.. anyways, i ran about collecting rabbit hides until i noticed two lvl75 rdms logged in. I instantly started spamming wide scan "assuming this person knew the ToD" and sure enough 4 minutes after they logged in. jagged ear jack pops right behind me. no flee... nothing special. nobody even knew since they weren't subbing rng. =) just waltzed over and slapped him with my boomerang, roughed him up. got a ToD of my own, no drop. but still my first claim ever on teh bunny.

Lvl 10 Elvaan warrior: scale armor/leggings/Legionnaire's Axe... aka nothing special.

I was camping the Fungus Beetle in W. Ronfaure last night desperately looking for its drop and the going was slow with no sightings. I had just dispatched a Goblin Weaver (what?! It aggro'd ME!) and as soon as I turned around for the Weaver's corpse, I froze: sitting right next to me, looking up with the cutest little milquetoast eyes ever, was Jaggedy-Eared Jack. I had 123 hp and without thinking twice 'voked him and beat him like he owed me money. Or a Rabbit Charm... which, y'know, I guess he sorta did. To be fair, he did knock me down to 53 hp but I didn't have to 2-hour or even WS him. Easy fight. Unfortunately, all I earned for my "trouble" was 172 xp and an earth crystal. Bah!

My point in posting is two-fold:

1) This is a relatively easy NM to fight (if not to find.) If you're low-level, don't pay attention to the posts claiming you need to be 14+ to stand a chance against Jack. I barely broke a sweat and didn't have food effects or other boosts active.

2) He was in W. Ronfaure (duh) H-9

Now, to find that F!#($&*!(ing Fungus Beetle...

0/32 on this NM.

I just wish it had a normal pop window. I've seen it pop in 1 hr and taken up to 3+ hours (like tonight >< meh...3 hours for a 1% drop rate NM).

rng widescan important
# Feb 18 2007 at 8:57 AM Rating: Decent
Ranger's widescan is important for this NM, Beastmaster is not strong enough.

The area is wide where he can spawn. Also, even if you dont get kill, u can still see that he popped, instead of camping on the other side, and seeing his death, the complaining he takes 4ever to spawn :P
Also, spawn times only count on Lottery pops (like this and LL) IF and only IF you kill its placeholder, you can kill 100s of rabbits in 4hrs and never touch the placeholder.

First off, I have killed this 32 times as 45bst/whm. I can see the entire pop area. I can see all the PH whether it pops over near the OP or by the mountains. Learn about beastmaster before sayin too weak. lvl 1 and lvl 20 bst widescan are very small, but after lvl40 they start covering alot more ground.

lvl40 bst widescan = lvl1 rng
lvl60 bst widescan = lvl20 rng

The map above isn't necessary correct, I just killed him yesterday running by on my chocobo. 0/1. He was right on top of the hill between G10 and H-10, I wonder how long he was there because I barely caught him on widescan, chocod past 2-3 campers just standing there, and got the claim. and I got the rabbit hide!!!!

dont know if this will help anyone or not... but when i camp him i used the widescan list below, i waited until the tainted hound showed because that was the easiest sign for seeing where the ph was i noticed if you stand in the top right corner of H-9 the second set of hares is the one that the ph is in

still working on actually getting drop though -^____^- gl everyone

Bad PH?

I need help with the widescan and how to find the PH. I read the list down below and that does not match up anywhere on the list. There are four parts of WS tha looks just like it but, in every case, there is one monster that is misplaced. I nvr found JEJ so i cant figured it out. {Help me out!} {Please assist}. I was killing what looked like phs for a LONG time. dont ask me how long b/c it will make me cry.

{Understood} and agreed, I'm fairly sure I know how the PH method works (1/1 VE and 1/15 LL w/ PH method) and the list offered on this forum doesn't match up.
^^' I would LOVE for a good PH list for JEJ *rubs hands together anxiously*
{Rabbit} {Charm} {Yes Please}! So if anyone has one could you link me/us to it :D?

There's 3 Forest Hares grouped together - usually 2 will be in the area between the mountains, the third will sometimes be on the hill to the southwest (to put another way, the hill SE of the crossroads by the outpost).

The post about widescan is essentially correct, but you both understand that this area is heavy with low level people levelling up, and consequently your widescan list is never going to look the same way twice.

My advice - pick a spot to stand and STAY THERE to minimize changes to your widescan. When JEJ pops the first time, take that time to get an idea of where he is in the list so that you can find that group of hares the next time.

There's nothing more anyone's going to be able to tell you to help you, short of running out there and pointing to the placeholder. You have the info, you just need to go use it.

Ahh, yes, after reading ur thread i set out again ^^' two /anons who sat by gate and one lvl 3-5 war near gates. All to myself >:D But list still didn't match up ?_? now I'm REALLY confused. I doubt the warrior came any further out, and the /anons were still sitting by gate 1.5 hours later. And other then people on chocos there was literally NO ONE out tonight X_X. I DID consider people running through and killing a few things, but I was searching area literally every 5 mins to make sure my list was all there. {/sigh}

{Hmmm.} 0/14 now =P

Now, take this list with a grain of salt, as ALL of these mobs probably won't be up at once. Your main focus is the group of 3 Forest Hares. Use the other mob TYPES as a guide, not necessarily their numbers.

For instance, I would look at it this way:

While standing on the road where G-9 and H-9 meet, I would first look for Forest Hares slightly to the Northeast, right around the center of H-9. I'd also look for a stray, single Forest Hare to the southwest - around the bottom center of G-9.

To confirm that this is the right group of Hares, I'd cross-check with the list above, especially the Goblins at the east end of H-9. This tells me I'm looking in the right area, and not somewhere too far away from me.

If still not clear, I'd look for some of the other mob types - the Carrion Worms, Sheep, or the Beetle and Fuguar which like to pop in that same general area.

After that I would just keep checking for those placeholder Hares, and proceed to hunting.
