not just dynamis

+30 water resistance! and mp and def, this could be usefull for more then just resisting charm, for one, its a great piece for ballista, as a whm at least. hmm... you can also throw this on before getting hit by water spells ^^. tho its a bit much, if we had enough inventory space we could all have +elemental resistance gear ready to hit a macroto equip it when you see a -ga going off or somthing.
not just dynamis

Unfortunately you get a penalty status when you do a gear-swap in ballista =(.
Really sucks.

I'm wondering how much the "Resist Charm" would help in Dynamis. Killing people because they get charmed isn't fun.
RE: Dynamis help
# Jun 26 2006 at 4:04 PM Rating: Decent
Resist charm is only good if everyone has it. No point in being the first to uncharm since you will die shortly after... The best thing to do in dynamis, is to not melee the BST NMs (manaburn) or if you melee them, have everyone in charm range.

That's what im wonderin myself..... lol, getting charmed sucks.... if i or anyone ever does in dynamis.... my ls has their orders.... kill every charmed player.

That may be true, but getting killed because you're one of the 5 people who was out of AoE charm range (or resisted it) is even less fun.

Ah, yes, just because your non-charmed friends won't kill you doesn't mean you won't die. Your charmed buddies are now dangerous.

Hehe just wanted to say that i was fighting a merrow chantress type mob (i think) by a pirate ship and it hit me with a special skill that stripped me nekked (o.O;) I had to requip all my gear and lost TP cause of it. Was funny to see.

ROTFL

I HAVE got to see this one in action. Preferably not on me though as I am fairly modest for a Mithra.
Quest Found

Found quest to get this item:

NPC: Dabhuh in Gladiators Alley in Whitegate.
He tells you about a Merrow that took his clothes while he was running away and fell in love with her and he wants you to bring him back a Merrow Scale.
From sources I have heard, you can get a Merrow Scale by fighting the Merrows in a boat near the Blue mage ??? or Corsair ???. Hope this helps.

what does the effect do?
# Apr 23 2006 at 12:47 PM Rating: Decent
ok....in Dynamis, can NM Charm you like a BST does?

All the Orc NMs have Charm. In Dynamis-BeauG and Dynamis-Sandy, all melee are encouraged to retreat from those NMs and only BLMs and SMNers attack it.

Even then, if the BLMs are not timed well, the NM can charm all the BLMs. It's pretty funny actually.

Not just in dynamis, there is a NM in the Qufim Tower that can charm you like a BST does.

And of course, the Animated Horn in Dynamis - Xarcabard. It hit me with it on the pull, and by the time someone managed to grab it, it lost interest and warped away. Which brought me to this item. I'd rather be prepared for charm the next time I make that pull.

I know for a factVrtra can charm, I think Tiamat can too. Not sure about Jorm though, too much work to get to his part of U. Range just to watch the rest of my LS kill him.

Pallas.

There is also a KSNM battle which you can get charmed in, I think called Copy Cat. Not sure this would help there though.

Let them get a pet, sleep the pet and don't kill it, then go to down on Enky or Pallas and you won't get charmed. Once NM is dead, kill pet :D

It enhances it which means you also get it. If you have a "trait" it can be very strong or very weak it's not a yes or no type thing. I'm a pld I have beast killer from my shield which "Enhances Beast Killer" normally I would not have this trait. Please do not post false information.

kk...if enhances trait stats work like that, then how come my suppanomimi doesn't let me dual wield w/o ninja sub?
RE: meh
# Apr 23 2006 at 10:01 PM Rating: Decent
Dual Wield is a full ******** specific job trait rather than a sublime ability like the killer effects. An easier way to look at it is all jobs have all killer effects, just its value is set to "0" so it never kicks in unless you have something that "Enhances Killer Effects". Dual wield is completely job specific and only ninja gets it. And in case you're wondering what "Enhances Dual Wield" does, it increases attack speed while two weapons are being used and I think it increases TP gained. That or the other way around lol but you get the idea
RE: meh
# Apr 23 2006 at 8:01 AM Rating: Decent
ok.. this is not the first new item i seen with 'resist charm' effect, something tells me that theres gonna be alot of 'charming' happening in hte new areas.
RE: meh
# Apr 23 2006 at 3:26 AM Rating: Decent
Because it's an exception, not the rule.

Look at the Tatami shield, it gives ALL killer effects to jobs that would normally not have any.

Look at the level 50 garrison earrings. They allow you to be intimidated by one mob in exchange for a killer effect from another. If you're a 75WHM/BLM, have you done ANY endgame activities? Anyone who has put their tank in front of a Wyrm with a Demon Earring knows that not only do these items give the effect, some of them give it in a BIG way.

Just because someone is level 75 doesnt mean they know jack about the game. There are now alot of people that have hit end game that have less then a clue about whats going on thanks to gil buying, burn parties, etc. Not saying this person is like that, but Rank and level of any job isnt a good way to weed out the retards from the decent players anymore.

Heya,

I thought they would post the info on how to get this along with the item. Guess not. Anyway, here's how ya get it:

Talk to Dabhuh in Whitegate near "The Pit" on the second level. He will talk about Merrow's and ask you for a Merrow Scale. These drop from Merrow Songsress, Merrow Bladestress, etc. in Arrapago Reef. Return the scale for your reward. Quest is called Such Sweet Sorrow.
how do you get it?

Effect

It only Enhances the effect, doesn't give it.
RE: Effect

As with all items of this sort, it grants the effect if you do not have it.
Dynamis and HNMs
# Apr 22 2006 at 5:25 AM Rating: Decent
This is the answer to so many Dynamis NM problems. I know Dynamis - Valkrum should be slightly easier with something like this.
