Where to find them

Naturally wamura cocoons drop from wamura. There are two kinds that I have found thus far. Wamuracampa spawn in the depths of Halvung and check as Tough to my lvl 75 Rdm. Wamura Prince can be found on the Island on the left part of the map of Mt. Zhaylom and check as VT to my Rdm.

To get to the Wamura Prince you need to go through the Halvung Gates in Mt. Zhaylom. To open them you need a key item "cast metal plate" that can be obtained from a ??? that spawns randomly in the area outside of the two gates. To get to the wamura prince camp: head to halvung from bufflau thickets or wajarom woodlands and have someone in the party cast escape. This will put you in Mt. Zhaylom. Head to the Halvung gate at H-8. Proceed north and into the cave in G-7, Trolls agro sight so you will need invis after the gate.
Follow the left wall in the cave and you will emerge into an open area with wamura prince. If you continue to follow the left wall there is a zone to halvung, so this is a relatively safe camp. However most people prefer to go on to the island: Take the zone into halvung, this part of the zone is very small and you will only need invis as wamura do not agro but the bombs do. Proceed down the tunnel, across the bridge, and up the tunnel on the other side. You will zone back into Mt. Zhaylom. You are now in the premiere wamura prince camp. There are several that pop just above the tunnel in the open area, but as they link, pulling them into the tunnel is suggested. Also the dragon that pops up there agros sight, but the range is not very large.

As I said, these were VT at lvl 75, my merit staic had no trouble fighting these. I recomend Barfira and either a rdm or a brd for dispel, as these mobs have a move called "Heat Barrier" that will give them VERY powerfull blaze spikes and enfire. These effects were doing 50-60 dmg per hit. These mobs are very slow so, they can be slept and nuked without gravity. Myself and a lvl 75 blm were able to take one out in 3-4 spells each. They also have very low evasion, but they have an AoE blind/damage move that does impair accuracy to a noticable degree.

The drop rate on the cocoons is not very high. It does seem to be higher from the Wamura Prince than the Wamuracampa though. I strongly reccomend that you bring a thf or /thf if you intend to farm these. We managed to get 7 in about 3 hours and 10k exp, with a drg/thf and a new moon. Other times with no /thf and random moon phase we got 2-4 in the same amount of time. With a full party of lvl 75s we were still getting 100-150 exp and exp chains up to 4 or 5, so these could be a good alternative to the exp off of weapons in sky or moon if you can convince a party to make the journey.

Well, I hope this information is helpful and good luck with the farming =)

The shop sitters are not gil sellers. They are just players that see a way to make a lot of gil quick. The price will drop in time. The only reason the price is so high is because ppl are dumb enough to pay that price. If the the price was not so high there would be too many ppl play pup. it is just a way SE leveled the playing field.

Remember it is a cloth shop not a pup shop. Just to let you know I hate pup because I am a cloth crafter. And I hate all the ppl around the shop. I can not wait for the price to drop on cocoons so all the ppl will stop camping the shop. There is too much lag just to buy some damn crawler cocoons and cotton thread.[link=null][/link]

does anyone know the clothcraft level/process needed to turn the wamoura cocoons into cloths?

wamarua cocoon synths are above lvl 60 clothcraft. My merit static leveled off these mobs for cocoons to help everyone out with our Pup upgrades. We have 2 lvl 60-65 CCers and neither could even synth the cocoons into thread, they got the message about the synth being to far out of their range to attempt. So, I would guess that these are lvl 75+ synths and a lil higher even to make the silk into cloth.

i think the cap for cocoons to the silk is around 59. and the silk to the cloth is low 60, but i could be way off.

Prices on AH have dropped from 100k to 45k overnight.. and with 85 on sale, it's gonna drop like a brick...

DO NOT BUY FROM AH UNTIL A FAIR PRICE HAS BEEN REACHED!

these are difficult to find at a reasonable price. We have a lot of guild farmers hanging out and slitting throats and wallets at AH. Maybe FFXI should create some price limits on such stuff?

I've given up PUP for a month or so until the price drops. I know its difficult for SE, to maintain an entire virtual world full of people who will do anything to exploit it.

Sorry for any of you that are having difficulty.

Try getting a single taru taru rice from the cooking guild in Windy. A bronze ingot from any smithing guild. Arrowwood in sandy (although the vendor in Al Zabi seams to have an endless supply), or Silk Thread, sheep leather, bone chips, or anything else that are exploited.

Limited items from a vendor that restocks at a predictable time is not smart. You can easily buy out something that you don't need and extort crafters on the AH. I feel like I require a 3rd party program to compete for a SINGLE BASKET OF TARUTARU RICE to try and make my self some sushi. normaly 90g rice, 25k on the AH.

Give it a month and these will likely be down to 50k on most servers. In a month Taru rice will likely be some where closer to 50k a stack, simply because there will be more 50+ of new jobs wanting sushi.

No, it isn't fair. Yes, it should be changed some how. No, it probebly won't.

So farm your cocoons and grow your own rice. Neither sounds appealing, but thats just the way it is.

P.S. those of you who don't have a higher level job or friends that could posibly fight those cockroaches, I'm terribly sorry for you, but you'll either have to wait till it drops in price or start saving... or give up Pup. :(

Man, the solution is really really simple:

If only persons who can craft that item, are able to buy it from the guild, then the less lagged ppl won't make profit on us anymore.
For instance, these cocoon could be bought only by lvl 80+ clothcrafters who need them in order to skill up.
The guild itself have to guarantee us this kind of service, as we are subscribed to it. We deserve it.

I knew something was up when I got near the Cloth guild for the first time my R was in the 3000s and I lagged. 500k a piece on AH, dropped to 100k recently.

Have they forgotten? People been banned for similiar things in Rabao (Padded Cap selling) and Tavnazia (Barone buying/selling back for more gil).

Greedy people need death
It's disgusting

This is one item that is making me start to become discouraged.... This item is necessary for your puppet upgrades for the PUP job. Now the problem isn't so much the cocoon as it is sold at the Clothcraft guild in the Al Zahbi zone. The problem is the GREEDY ppl that camp that guild and at 06:00 each vanadiel day they are there and buy all the 748 gil cocoon and proceed over the the AH where they sell it from 90k up to 500k.... I've retired my lvl 10 PUP and am awaiting the time where people stop buying the inflated cocoons and you can buy these materials from the guild without the greedy ppl competition... And if that never happens goodbye PUP job (for me anyways).
