Just bought this sward on Shiva at 360k. I sold some old equipment and got me a total of 360,001. And now I have just 1 gil left lol.

Great sward. I soloed a lot as Rdm/Bst. I saw a huge improvment on dmg output with this....but at this point I have no gil to teleport to anywhere for real battles. haha.
Exceptional Sword

Great for soloing.. especially colibri.. and builds TP like wild fire due to it's high dps.

And actually. It outperforms the Company Sword in a party if you are fighting Greater Colibri.

Finaly got one, and yep this is the sword for me. I solo a lot and like to straight up melee em and lower if at all possible. I don't have the joytoy yet so getting this the micro second a) it showed up on the ah and b) I could afford it, was mandatory. Ended up paying 1.5 mil. And I'm not regreting it at all. That base damage bonus while solo is just da bomb. Oh well time to re-build the fundage.

I took this out to gusta right after I got it to compare to my anelace. Hubba hubbaaaaa. I can however confirm that this thing now has the peircing bonus/penalties properly. So I guess it's time to get rid of the anelace (that being 72, I just don't need to keep it arround). I'll keep the martial anelace arround for the times when peircing is counter-indicated.
Slashing Damage Not Blunt

This is a slashing weapon. Not blunt and not Piercing. The reason for the higher damage on bones (other than the hidden effect) is that piercing weapons take -50% damage to bones. Slashing only takes a -12.5% hit. This difference combined with the hidden effect of D47 while solo makes it a much more powerful sword on bones.

AS a reference I can max crit with this on bones for about 155. Normal mobs I can max crit for 177 and on winged mobs (those weak to piercing) I get the same max crit of 177.

This sword does a Ton of damage solo and comes closer to Joyeuse DOT than you might believe. Joyeuse is still better but this thing is not that far behind. Definatley a must for those without the Joytoy, and a good Main hand weapon for those with Joy as its supperior DOT and Base damage will outperform the TP bonus you get from the Martial Anelace.

I'll submit a screen shot in the next day or two. Hopefully it will get posted.

As of the recent update this has been changed to a piercing damage weapon. Very easy to notice now too with the +25% damage I was getting on flying mobs. Crit hits up to 221 on them.

Hidden effects?

This is just speculation<sp?> but from what I've read it has a hidden effect of blunt dmg and has a reverse effect of the company swords in that it gives a bonus in base dmg for not having people in your pt can't remember the number but I think it was maxed at 50ish based dmg solo?

Here's the link I found on the Rdm forums here from people testing it.

Hidden Effect?
# Sep 15 2006 at 7:58 AM Rating: Decent
I really cant say whether this has a hidden effect or not for sure, but I can understand the high price. If you pay attention to AH listings, this is the HIGHEST DAMAGE weapon that a bard can BUY (other than rune weapons, which drain mp), and the delay is RATHER low on top of that. If ti has no hidden effect, this is nothing special for RDM, but is still great for brd, it's about time they got a dmg 39 weapon :)

Okay so I've been playing with it. Numbers are higher then Joyeuse on pretty much everything with some exceptions I find kind of interesting. Against flying mobs(weak to piercing) joyeuse's numbers are about the same as the epee if not a little higher, I'd expect the Mensur Epee to take the lead because Epee class swords are supposed to deal piercing dmg, same as Joyeuse. But when fighting skeletons the Epee's dmg is almost 2x-3x that of the joy toy.

"Mensur Epee" Is supposedly a sword used only to train students in the art of fencing. Which leads me to beleive this is a blunt training weapon and thus deals "blunt" type damage.

This explains why the piercing joyeuse deals about the same dmg to flying mobs and is vastly out classed when against bones.

As far as the "Hidden effect: solo dmg +10" Numbers are too close to tell so far. I'll need to parse it against another DMG:39 sword.

I was told that Mensur Epee becomes DMG 47, when "solo". -2DMG for each additional member.

Yourself + 1 other member = 45DMG
yourself + 2 other members = 43DMG

This sword is obtained from the 75 ISNM called Happy Caster. You fight one flan which casts a bunch of nasty -ga spells. Several stunners highly recommended.

There might be more to it, though.

It went from a solid 300-600k on Remora to 3 million and slowly creeping up. I can't help but think there MUST be some hidden stat/trait to this sword. I've tried to Google it to see if I could find some discussion on the sword, but nothing.

Has anyone found anything special about this sword? Or is it just another 39 damage sword with a slightly faster delay...

Man.. I'd love to find out if it has a Hidden, but only two on my server have sold for 3.5mil.. A bit much for experimenting, especially if its just a plain ol' 39 DMG Sword -.- but watch it be special and jump up to like 15mil or something crazy.. be my luck LoL
