Get the Royal Guards Coller. I would get this just to use in ballista etc but for prtys, i would go with the Royal guard Coller, the atk and acc helps, especially when using guillotine.
Would this neck piece be good to use as THF/NIN? I think THF would benefit from it with the extra ACC and Store TP to do more dmg by using Dancing Edge more often.
Sorry if this is a stupid question... From reading the paladin guide posted here, and my own experience as a pld, hitting consistently and using the occasional solo weaponskill are great hate management tools. Do you think this piece might be beneficial for a pld, or is it not worth the tradeoff of unequipping something like IM gorget?
is it worth it? is it better then IM Gorget? that depends... what does it depend on? are you building a DD PLD (or DD equip set) -if you are going for DD, then IM gorget does not apply here... so in that sense, it is better than IM gorget. -that does not mean it is always better than IM gorget--- -Uses for chiv chain: Overall DoT increased (maybe not as good as peacock charm) as well as stronger Vorpal Blade (once again maybe not as good as peacock charm). -It is probably will not get significant gains from Swift Blade or Savage Blade.
is it better than soil gorget? -from yunnies testing- it generally does more Vorpal Blade damge then soil gorget. please keep in mind the following gear: Main: Company Sword Sub: Joyeuse Head: Sipahi Turban (NQ) Neck: Chiv Chain Ear1: Supponomimi Ear2: Brutal Earring (or Triumph Earring) Body: Haubergeon Hands: Sipahi Dastanas (NQ) Ring1: Ruby Ring Ring2: Ruby Ring Legs: Sipahi Zerehs (NQ) Feet: Marine F Boots
Vorpal Blade on Sea Puks Chiv Chain: average 650 Soil Gorget: average 430
now also please keep in mind these numbers in no way makes PLD a true DD- and they are no where near impressive--- but it is posted in hopes to better further knowledge about it. (this does not include Madrigal)
That is a good question. I too am a 75pld. Due to the lack of good neckpieces that can be obtain by either buying or doing easy quests, as a pld, we are limited to good pieces for use. This is a great piece for doing Damage, but needing to do damage to keep hate is not a good way to play pld. Parade Gorget is a great piece to use in between fights or if you are taking little damage, during fights. With this, you get a additional 1mp a tic which helps you be able to cast more. There are also a couple good defensive neck pieces. Granted we have had the Iron Musketeer's Gorget since the 50's, but vit is always nice for pld. Shield Torque has also become a great piece since the addition of Shield Mastery. Many ppl underestimate the benifit of it. But look at the well know plds on your server. Many of them have the lvl52 AF boots on. The +10 shield skill is nice. Add that with the Torque and you will see a noticable difference with your shield. Fortified Chain also is a nice piece, though that focuses on you blocking the attacks more thank taking them, with parry and evasion boost as well as shield. Hateful Collar has the +1 enmity. Not a great piece to keep equiped, but you can sub it in for voke in your voke macro. Being this does not change you characters grafics, your mages won't lose lock on you when curing. You have to look and see what best suits your style of tanking. Of course when you make it to the elite and start kicking but in Sea, you can get the Fortitude Torque, which is by far, hands down, the best neck piece for a pld in the game. +5 Vit +7 Sword skill +7 Great Axe skill. What pld would not want this when tanking tough mobs?
I just wanna know if it's worth it? I know that it's a really bad @$$ neck peice, but is there anything better out there for it's lvl? I'm a 63 WAR about to buy it for the STR, but that's like half of my gil. 800-900k on Sylph.
You have to remember Pikko and Exo are trying to update this stuff as fast as possible and they are still missing stuff from Promy release. It's alot of work for just 2 people who I am sure have RL jobs besides just maintaining this board 24/7
