Yellow Globe
# Jun 13 2008 at 11:56 AM Rating: Decent
Fishing in the sea off of Qufim (Moon at 40%):
Fishing(1) with Halcyon Rod and Sabiki Rod yeilded:

1: Fished up a Pug
2: 3 Yellow Globes
3: 3 Yellow Globes
4: Nothing.
5: 3 Yellow Globes
6: 2 Yellow Globes
7: Nothing.
8: 3 Yellow Globes
9: Nothing.
10: 3 Yellow Globes

This was also convenient because I was farming them to make poison dust to level Alchemy, and whenever I would see Lightning I would go kill a Thunder Elemental or two and BAM! Leveled up alchemy at almost no cost!

I've been fishing these up at the lake in Qufim, using a Halcyon Rod and Crayfish balls.

If u use a sabaki rig in Sauromugue Champaign all u will catch are monsters and yellow globes, and the occasional cone calamary, I caught 6 stacks in about an hour, good luck.
Mharua Pier with Lousy Gear

Caught 6 of these in about 5 min off the Mhaura pier with Clothespole and Worm Lure. At the time, my fishing skill was still zero. Also was catching Pamtam Kelp and a Silver Ring.

I've Found That These Sell For 5k A Stack In Jeuno AH On Valefor. I Guess They Will Sell For This On Most Servers As They Are Used In Alchemy To Make Poison Dust.

1:1 sardines to globes
# Dec 01 2005 at 8:18 PM Rating: Decent
My experiance -
Composite fishing rod, sabiki rig and lugworms, no fishing gear, skill lvl 10, mhuara.
Using Sabiki rig
1st- too small to catch with this rod
2nd- 3 yellow globes(hurrah!)
3rd- bastore sardine
4th- bastore sardine
5th- 3 bastore sardines
6th- bastore sardine
7th- too small to catch with this rod (starting to loose patience....)
8th- 3 yellow globes w00t
9th- yellow globe
10th- bastore sardine
11th yellow globe
12th- rusty leggings
At this point my rig broke because i accidently hit enter while a fish was on full health so i changed to Lugworms
1st- yellow globe
2nd- 2 bastore sardines
3rd- yellow globe
4th- yellow globe
5th- bastore sardine
From then on it got pretty much 1:1 sardines to globes, which i was happy with cuz i could finish 2 stacks in about an hour non stop. I fished opposite the vendor that sells lugworms, not on the pier.

I catch these along with tiger cod and Nosteau Herrings in Batallia Downs by using a fastwater rod and lugs. Can catch quite a few silver rings there, too.... and I saw people catching mythril swords as well... But that's getting off into a different topic, so.... >.>
Where to catch
# Nov 14 2005 at 11:29 AM Rating: Decent
Try using crayfish balls and Carbon rod in Port Jueno at the Windy docks. Don't forget to bring a couple stacks of lightning crystals to lvl achemy.

Crayfish balls
# Sep 07 2005 at 1:12 AM Rating: Default
if yer looking to catch these in Mhaura without catching stupid sardines, use crayfish balls (which bastore sardines apparently don't like) it'll cost you more than a sabiki in the long run, but if yer looking for skillups past 10(like i was) those sardines do you no good and are just plain annoying to catch over and over and over (and also using a rig makes you get to "fishing fatigue" faster, cause your catching fish more quickly, and no one likes it when SE stops you from catching stuff till 24:00 jpn time >.>)

And overall the bait costs like 3k (on AH i could make them, or buy off an NPC for cheaper, but i'm too lazy) and i can sell the stack of globes fer 5k... so i'm not losing any money.

Yellow Globe = 60 Guild Points.

Maximum per day = 1680 Guild Points.

Turn in 28 Yellow Globes to gain the maximum.

at the risk of losing 2-3k sabiki rig, i stocked up on lugworms (9gil each at fishermans guild, 13 gil each in mhaura) and fished globes in mhaura with composite rod. i caught sardines and globes. the ratio was generally 1:1 and in some instances 2:1 (more sardines for those not good at ratios). sell these in bastok though. they are use in poison dust (lvl 12 alchemy) not too many people either make brain stew or use brain stew. and since it has such a high cooking lvl to make, it sells slower.

Tried to catch these guys in Qufim on the ice pond with sabiki rig and comp. rod, at skill level 13.

Results were as follows:

1) No catch
2) 2 yellow globes
3) a yellow globe
4) No catch
5) No catch
6) Monster
7) No catch
8) Monster
9) No catch
10) Rusty subligar
11) Monster

This is with the +4 from fishing gear and is after the update on Darksday, Last Quarter Moon (50%).. So I don't know whether or not this is a viable place to fish for yellow globes with the sabiki + comp setup.

Edit: FOLLOWUP

After a while longer, catch rates did improve, but still a lot of monsters. I did manage to reach level 15 fishing.

I noticed that the merchants in the fishing guild salesroom in selbina also sell these (ranking was Windy/Sandy/Bastok at the time). Price was about 313...

Two minutes after this post, I noticed they were only 297 for me onthe ferry itself.... So if you have to buy them from an npc, maybe it's better to try the ferry.

I'm not sure how fame affects the ferry price-- but the items listed for saleon the ferry from Logkhuk (or whatever her name is) seems to be the same list at the showroom in selbina. Does anyone know anything about what fame counts on the ferry?

I don't think guild salesrooms are affected by fame. I think they are affected by how many they have in stock, or something...

I sell stacks for anywhere from 2000-2500 in jeuno. I usually fish them out of the pond but I got SKUNKED yesterday fishing with a sabiki rig. I caught 8 of them pretty quick, but then nothing but maybe a copper ring and a rusty subligar for about 2 hours.

just checking but do you realize that having the rusty buckets in your mog (and assuming you have fishing moghancement) only improves your chances of finding items instead of fish??
