I ask you to not sully the name of Captin Edward Teach as he was a gentelman of the sea. Depending on what your reading you may have a biased opinion thrown in with your historical facts. If your reading a book printed in England he will most likely be depicted as a monster. However this is unfounded, there was only one epic battle where Teach killed without mercy, a large british ship and her crew. This battle spawned all kinds of nasty ghost stories about a good man and a great pirate. It was a message to the crown, not just a meaningless bloodbath. Sadly the engilsh have this nasty little tendancy to throw in a bias with their history. If you look at their history books they use to teach in school the Americans would not have won the Revolutionary War if they were not busy with "more importaint matters". Any issues you may have with this information can be taken up with The Discovery Channel.

Yes...history books in all other countries are never tainted with biased opinion...only in teh Engerlaaaand. I went to school in England and never even learned about the American Revolution , we were busy with "more important matters" ;D

Well it is confirmed that the pants drop for the Captain fight (not commonly though). The Mouffles have yet to be seen so far as my research goes. Matron Knife also drops from one of these 3 battles (I forget which one).

What about the Holy Roman Emporer Frederik Barbarossa?

Given the pirate is what these were probably based after but Frederik Barbarossa would have made the story a little more interesting.

Quick history lesson

Barbarossa

(died 1546) Greek Turkish pirate and admiral in the service of the Ottoman Empire. He and his brother 'Aruj, sons of a Turk from Lesbos, hated the Spanish and Portuguese for their attacks on North Africa and took up piracy on the Barbary Coast in hopes of seizing an African domain for themselves. When 'Aruj was killed in 1518, Khidr took the title Khayr al-Din. He offered allegiance to the Ottoman sultan and in return received military aid that enabled him to capture Algiers in 1529. Appointed admiral in chief of the Ottoman Empire (1533), he conquered all of Tunisia. Emperor Charles V captured Tunis in 1535, but Khayr al-Din defeated his fleet at the Battle of Preveza (1538), securing the eastern Mediterranean for the Turks for 33 years. His red beard was the source of the epithet Barbarossa, used by Europeans.

Also very very slightly changed in name for the pirates of the caribbean film Capt. Barbossa. Though this is the real pirate they swiped the name from.

Just a bit of background. I personally love corsair and blue mage and most the new equipment they just released is pretty awesome. I'm guessing this might be from the new "assualt type missons" (not actually assualt, but setup the same) that are on board the Ashu Talif.

Quick run down of basic info on the quests:

Scouting the Ashu Talif

Client: Halshaob (Port, Nashmau)
Summary:
According to a report, the pirate ship Ashu Talif's crew is armed and dangerous. The Maelstrom Company is to board the ship and judge the
severity of the threat, and if possible, eliminate it.

Royal Painter Escort

Client: Halshaob (Port, Nashmau)
Summary:
The Empress has sent her royal painter Faluuya to the Ashu Talif to sketch diagrams of the ship.
The Maelstrom Company is to protect her as she completes her work.

Targeting the Captain

Client: Halshaob (Port, Nashmau)
Summary:
The Imperial Army has decided that the only way to rid the Empire of the Ashu Talif is to dispose of its captain. The Maelstrom Company is
to board the Ashu Talif with a small force and end the threat for good.

I imagine the Capt. fight will probably drops the new Pirate Barbarossa gear. Just a my guess though.

Actually Barbarossa is the italian for "Red Beard", blackbeard is the nickname
of the pirate Edward Teach, and is translated in italian as "Barbanera", trust me i'm italian i know my language XD
One of the reasons behind the nickname Barbarossa can be the fact that his hair and beard color was red, other than this he was rumored to strenghten his shade of red by using the blood of his fallen enemies...

Edward teach was one of the most feard pirates but he was one of the only gentalmen pirats who had respect and honor, i doubt he was barberic enuff to use blood to colore his beard

If you think Edward Teach was a Gentleman Pirate you need to put down the Fairy Tale Book and pick up the History Book.

He scuttled his own flagship and murdered more than half his own crew after forcing them to move his loot to a smaller and faster vessel so he wouldn't have to share.

Whether he was polite or not when he did such things is perhaps not recordeed, but I think you'd have to stretch pretty far to find 'respect' and 'honor' in the actions of Edward Teach outside the dreamy world of a 12 year old boy who wants to be a pirate when he grows up cause their cool.

Barbanera was Teach, Barbarossa, see the description of the pirate earlier, 2 different people, the poster above you wasn't saying Blackbeard dyed his beard red, he was saying that the myth of Barbarossa (16th century North African pirate) has him coloring his beard more strongly with the blood of his enemies (most likely he was red headed and this myth was made to make his fearsome image even bigger).
