This one is great for skilling up polearm both for pld, war and sam.

I did on WAR and with retaliation fighting 4 to 5 crabs from kuftal tunnel i gained TP like crazy and got skill up from retaliationed hits also on EP mobs it hits often :)

Skilled up polearm for SAM just to have it capped for birds try out.
No Dex/Agi

I am not a melee, so i am pretty ignorant about this, but the stats of this spear got me thinking: since sams don't have a bad skill with spears, wouldn't this one help them if they happen to be main tanks? With this being straight out dmg reduction, they could be half way between pld and nin tanking styles.

Maybe even for tanking war/nin?
DRG/Mage?

This mainly looks like it would apply to a drg/mage soloer thats what i think this would probably be best used for +10 MP/HP, resist silence, and +DEX/AGI for criticals and eva wouldn't make this half bad for a solo drg.

Since Damage Taken -10% applys to both Magic and Physical Damage, could this be a reasonable replacement to the Earth Staff a PLD uses to kite / straight Tank HNMs? Hmm.

Paladins stoped using E.Staff in 2006. Welcome to the Present.

No. A Paladins main concern is physical damage, he relies on his mages to be able to stun/interupt direct spells and most other abilities that would deal magic damage. In a HNM situation, the extra 10% physical damage mitigation from the Earth Staff is far more useful.

Here's the obligatory ********** is situational" phrase before I correct you.

Have you fought anything other than low tier HNM (Roc, Simurgh, King Arthro)? Your mages can't stun Kirin. How about Jailer of Hope? Nope, can't stun him reliably. Your mages can not stun every HNM in this game. So that's false information.

I can tell you that any non-Aegis PLD would be foolish not to add this to their equipment macro set/s. This lance owns face on stuff like Jailer of Love, where you should take zero physical damage but magical (Tier IV and -aga) spells. How about a BahamutV2 while he prepares a Teraflare? I don't think earth staff would do much for you there. This piece is situational, much like an earth staff and a shield. Just don't dissmiss a piece of gear you don't find useful or don't understand yet.
