proof of digging skill...
# Aug 27 2007 at 8:18 PM Rating: Decent
I have definite proof of a digging skill, and in fact not only that, but that there are 100 levels, not 10, each with a rank.

First off, I am lv 52ish digging. when you first start digging you can dig every 18 seconds, and every 10 lvs, or every rank, you cna dig at a shorter time, 11 secs at rnk 2, (lv 20), 6 secs rnk 3, every 1 second at rnk 4, then after that the time one must wait to dig between zone is shortened from 60 secs allt he way down to 1.

The reason I know I am 52ish is I recently hit rnk 5, am able to dig every second and only have to wait 40 secs between zones.

I found out true proof though when talking to Gm about the fact my digging skill ups where increasing drmaticly ever since I started playing hot and cold.

Instead of completly denying the fact of a digging skill, he asked if I skipped an entire lv, or was just getting the .5 skillups faster than usual.

I immeaditly asked if there was a way to tell when one got a skill up. The GM skirted the entire subject then and asked if there was anything else I needed help with. But it was allready to late!

Obviously one occasionally gets .5 skillups, maybe when digging up a rarer item perhaps? Anywho, I also find my rewards from digging increases drmaticly when using a chocobo riased with high discernment, first class actually. It goes up even FURTHER when I wear full chocobo gear. Sadly though I missed the easter event, and couldn't get the egg helm ; ;. Anywho, there you go, proof of a digging skill!
Raising Chocobos

I don't know if this really effected my chocobo, but after feeding this to my chick, I would take it on a walk and it would find things. 3/4 walks I received a gift from it.
Not saying this has any connection to this event, just that every time I feed it I got this results, so if you dont get the same results, sorry.
Location in AH?
# Aug 07 2006 at 6:27 PM Rating: Decent
These used to be listed in AH under Food >>> Ingredients. It's not anymore. Does anyone know what they are under? I've tried alchemy, food >> Meals, Misc, and have no idea what else they could possibly be listed as...

Digging Level
# Jul 29 2006 at 6:15 PM Rating: Decent
Somebody said your level can be determined by time it takes to dig between digs and when entering areas. Is there any way to calculate this?

Thanks.

I recieved one of these for taking a NPC to Norg via Chocobo. It seems to be a timed event. Maybe the new record gets a better reward? The NPC who gave me this mini quest was the Chocobo Rental NPC in Kazham.
AH Price

I have to say I'm really confused. Today I checked the AH in Jeuno, and gysahl greens sold for 3k a piece, and only 2k per stack. That's right, the stack was less expensive than the individual. Does anyone have a logical explanation for this?
Choco Digging
# Jul 07 2005 at 1:21 PM Rating: Default
Can someone please explain to me how to raise my chocobo's digging level. I woul love to make tons of gil from juts going to one place to another in stead of farming. Also and if your on Pandemonium and you could explain this to me in person , that would help too.

Digging

After trying crafting, gardening, mining, fishing, logging, and harvesting it seemed chocobo digging was the only thing I haven't done. It appears I wasn't missing much.

Bought a stack of gysahl greens from a merchant in the stables in Lower Jeuno for 68 gil each, 812 total. Ported out to Yhoator Jungle and ran to Norg to get a choco thinking Yuhtunga might be a nice scenic place to try it out. 106 gil.

In the action menu on the left of the screen, without target your options are Chat, Dig, and Dismount. Dig has a reuse timer of probably 7 seconds (seemed the same as fishing) and isn't available everywhere, though move a few steps and it will be again, it seems a common option.

The chocobo will eat gysahl greens from your inventory every digging attempt, regardless of success. So after an investment of a little over 900 gil and possibly 20-30 minutes, my chocobo dug up a bone chip. One successful dig in twelve.

While chocobo riding gear might possibly? improve results, I doubt it. It says nothing about it in the clothing description. I'm not sure there is anything to enhance digging.

In the end, this was the most expensive bone chip I ever bought. I certainly won't buy more gysahl greens. >.<

Since when is there a digging skill..?
RE: Digging
# Jun 19 2006 at 1:54 PM Rating: Decent
There has always been a digging skill you just cant see it with your other lvled crafts... how you tell which lvl you are is by the wait time between diggs and the wait you have when you first enter a zone.

Btw im lvl 3 choco digging and there are 10 lvls it takes a long time to get A10 (lvl10) and if you are not willing to put in lots of time this wont be for you but i know that A10 you have the best chance to get the really rare items along with Elemental Ore (which is uber uber rare but ppl have dug these up just not often).

You're going to need a lot more than one stack of Gysahl Greens to make a profit from digging...

That's not stupid. If you don't feel like spending a bunch of time running around harvesting, or trying to grow them, it's best to buy them from the chocobo stable or other NPC who sells them.

Stupid would have been buying them at the AH when you could get them cheaper from an NPC.

Chocobo digging

You need one of these for each hole you want your bird to dig.. if that's still available in the game.

Don't know if needed for just using bird. Haven't done that yet.

Info is from Brady guide.
