Maybe it was just a glitch, but who knows, as far as I am concerned if the ONLY purpose of these is SJ/Aht WG I wouldn't have gotten one in Sarutabaruta[S]

After having a 4 leaf mandy bud for a year and a half, an LS mate of mine and I go farming for some Lucky Eggs. Within 20 minutes both of us got one. By the next day, I had 2 pt invites (one for PUP and one for DRK) after weeks of none, had a coffer that I was searching for pop right next to me as I was going afk, and after killing one Wivre during a Merit Party, got the Wivre Hide drop; it sells for 170k on Pandemonium AH. Now, tell me that's not lucky! Whether or not you believe this is a placebo effect or a madman's rant, I am going farming for a Wild Rarab Tail ASAP. On a personal note, I have kept a rabbits foot in my car since i got my license 12 years ago... I have never had a wreck or a speeding ticket!~ :D

A couple of weeks ago I was trying to raise my Bastok fame between Exp PTs, and figured I'd kill me some sand bats during the Stone Monument visits to Selbina. One night, my pride got the best of me and I spent over an hour camping the too weak sand bats with no drop. Forgetting about the silly quest, and no longer needing the Bastok fame, I left the dunes a sad and broken Elvaan.

Fast-forward a couple of weeks, and I come across this item while farming in Buburimu. I was about to toss it, but remembered the rumours surrounding it... and what can I say? I'm a sucker for superstition. Anyway, after I was done farming I hopped on the ferry to Selbina to drop off my last stone tablet for the Crawler's Nest map quest. On my way out of the dunes, I killed the pair of Sand Bats in the L-9/M-9 tunnel and pow! Two sand bat fangs! I sent them off to a newbie LS mate flagged in Bastok and will never toss this item no matter how full my gobbie bag may be.

Dropquality
# Sep 23 2006 at 7:58 PM Rating: Decent
Friend got this on the second kill.
He farmed in giddeus necklaces for fame and he got 24 Yagudo Necklaces in 30mins.
Not ONE Feather dropped.

So it really has a affect on dropquality ( not rate imo ).
Dont know if it works on a NM like Torrent > always Monster Signa would be fine :D

Drop Rate
# Aug 16 2006 at 10:43 AM Rating: Decent
Yesterday I decided to pick one of these up as I already have the 4-leaf Mangradora Bud and was interested to see if my drop rate would improve with 2 "Lucky" items as oppossed to just the one. The Wild Rabbit Tail dropped after approx. 64 kills, and this while having the 4-leaf Mangradora Bud in my inventory. Not so lucky - so far. However, having had the 4-leaf Mangradora Bud in my inventory for about a year, I do believe that overall, my drop rates have been better than without it. Haven't tried eating the 4-leaf Mangradora Bud yet but may. I am also going to test having 2 of the 3 "Lucky" items in my inventory and see if drop rates improve as well. I'll post results at a later date.

I believe it's The Lucky Egg dropped from Knight Crawler's in Crawler's Nest and The Boyahda Tree.
Luck? Possibly ^^

Now I have TH2, I farm as THF45/NIN22.
Maybe I'm superstitious, or maybe this really is lucky. I'll let you decide based on my experience.

Got this on first kill, decided to keep it with me, couldnt hurt.

Here are some things I've gotten.

- 1/1 on Bounding Boots. First time camping him, first pop I've ever seen, dropped for my first kill.
- Doing genkai 1. I'm about to go in to join my friend (SMN75). I zone in, and he starts. First Lich drops papy.
- I go with my friend (same one, SMN75) on several coffer key huntings. Once I went with him to Oztroja. We didnt get the key mind you, but we managed 2 Ninja tests and 3-4 Bard tests.
- Farming Ni scrolls in Oztroja with my friend, got 4 within 15 mins.
- We goto Temple of Uggalepih to try for twincoons. Didnt pop the NM, but right before we had to go, killed a Wespe and dropped Hornetneedle spawn item.
- Recently went to finish RSE in Gusgen. 2nd kill we get key, and just as added luck (not drop luck) I found the chest literally 1 min later (not even knowing spawn points mind you xD).

My whole LS refers to me as the Hacker. ^^ I even get people asking me to help them because I'm "the hacker" xD

Here are some things I've gotten without any so-called "lucky" items:

- Leaping boots 1/1
- Bounding boots 1/1
- Empress pin 1/2 (Emperor pin 0/0)
- Keys for Kazham quest: 1st kill for 2, 2nd kill for the third.
- Burning, damp, wooden, golden, and earthen hakutaku eyes for my O.Hat each within the first 4 kills.
- Every garrison item within 4 kills
- Every coffer key I ever needed within 15 minutes of exping, killing pots in Ru'Ann Gardens for TP for gods, etc.
- Thf testimony on second steal (not that that's droprate), and testimonies for every other job that I'm constantly dropping.
- Piles and piles of "rare" quest items that I don't need, or other random things I've never seen or heard of and am constantly having to look up online to figure out wth they are.

SE has stated several times that the only thing that affects droprate is Treasure Hunter. Want better drops? Level thief. Everything else is just a placebo affect. Believe what you like. I'm currently on kick wherein I'm choosing to believe that my SH lowers the proc rate of my triple attack and critical hits.

I got the tail in 2 kills. went to get the 4-leaf bud ... took 39 kills, 8 2-leafs and 1.5 stacks of cotten to get. since then I've noticed a big difference in my drop rate espiecally during full moons (90% or better). This is just how i've experienced it. Hope it helps. >> Cov.

My LS had just been discussing the "Lucky Items" in the game, and I was running along Buburimu and killed a Might Rarab for the hell of it......Got it. Couldn't believe my luck. I'm still not sure if it adds TH, but my Critical Hit rates have seem to go up quite a bit, too bad my ACC still sucks.
Confirmation??

I got both the rabbit tail and the 4-leaf bud today. The rabbit tail i got first within about 6 kills, using my 42 thf/19rdm (my soloing sub).
With the added luck (if it's true) i assumed i'd get the 4 leaf in no time. It took a while, and discarding a lot of 2 leaf buds, but i did get it. My impression is that my luck with drops and steal rates has definitely improved. After getting both i killed a dhamel, and instantly got a rare/ex item + 3bits of dhamel meat... call it a lucky drop? Who knows really.

I've heard a lot of people saying they've killed tens of Mighty Rarabs before getting this tail. I got mine on the second one.

What might've done it is the 4-leaf Mangradora Bud I had on me.

Now I've got two rumoured 'lucky items' with me. If these items will work while in my Mog Safe, that'll be increased luck and two more spaces in my inventory. Anyone know if these supposed 'lucky items' work if they aren't actually on hand?
Another Coincidence
# Jul 10 2005 at 12:07 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a 60 Ninja and I sub THF at 15 to farm. I have been farming for the last two months. I use the ability "Steal" every 5 minutes. In my entire two months, never once, have I successfully stolen a damn thing. I killed a Mighty Rarab and get the tail. The next Mighty Rarab, "Steal" comes back open, I use it, AND I ACTUALLY STEAL SOMETHING. I'm sure it's complete coincidence, but it's funny, too!

I have herd lots of people saying different things about this item but no one ever mentions what I have found when carring this in my inv.
I swear that it has an effect on meley attacks! I get 75% more critical hits when im carring this item even though at times I thought it was BS. I have tested this time and time again on the same mobs at the same level without changing any gear.I have even had people in EXP partys suprised on how meny critical hits I do.
Just my 2 cents.

this item does not increase drop rates or anything else in the game. It's only a description. items that increase drop rate usually say "Treasure Hunter effect +1" which works as a TH boost or regular TH for jobs other than thf
items can't effect game play unless it's worn or set in mog house as a mog enhancement, carrying this item on you will just clog up a space :P

Some items have a hidden effect in which case the effects are not always known. Sometimes the hidden effects are so small a difference that you may not see it. You have to do countless controlled tests to find the truth, But even that is difficult because there are more variables than constants in the game like moon phase, time of day, day of the week, and ect.

If an item has a hidden effect then the constants and the variables will also be hidden.

Please do not listen to this person, as he/she is not an employee of SE nor an affiliated company; therefore, has no knowledge or proof that said item does not help a player's luck ingame. really?
# Feb 12 2005 at 7:27 AM Rating: Good
is there ANY word from SE about this increasing luck?
I highly doubt that this would really have any effect on drops, otherwise everyone would carry one.

I think that most peoples experience with this, suggests that perhaps they kill more often as they gain levels, and therefore increase chance of drops, not an item that you carry, that would allow you to increase your drops.

But, then again, IRL, I am not superstitious.
A real answer about this would help a lot more. My thinking is leaning towards it NOT doing anything.

I'm level 25 monk farming in Buburimu. I picked on of these tails while trying to complete a stack of rabbit pelts. I thought I'd give it a try and carry it. Without statitics it's uncertain, but the initial impression I'm getting is that drops have improved. Perhaps for a thief this benefit is insignificant, but for a melee that relies on random drops, any computational edge helps.
