selling carrot broth
# Feb 13 2006 at 9:40 AM Rating: Decent
You can sell carrot broth to pretty much any NPC except the guild NPC's... they won't take it. My Elvaan warrior, Rukima, is level 11 at cooking, and I used carrot broth to get to level 3. It's a very good, cheap way of reaching level 3, but they can be expensive if in Windurst (luckily I had a friend who sent me carrots from San D'Oria where they sell very cheaply). And farming the crystals yourself to make these makes it even cheaper.
jug pets and caps

ok, for those of you who dont know (non-beastmaster folk, its ok ^^) most jugs have unseen level caps: you can start using this jug at lvl 23, but it starts to lose its effectiveness around level 35. Also, jug pets are supposedly anywhere from 1-3 levels lower than you, but are not NEARLY as strong as a DC mob of the same type, they also hit slower and with worse accuracy. Most jugs have a 12 level period of usefulness (carrot broth: 23-35, meat broth: 28-40, bug broth: 33-45) but some jugs have 30 levels of usefulness or more (fish broth: 23-53ish, seedbed soil: 33-63ish, Alchemist's water: 23-75, fish oil broth: 23-75)

i don't know about the caps on other jugs, but i believe that all of the new HQ versions cap at 75, and the relative strengths of each one seems to be more dependent on what mob type the pet is (like how flytraps attack VERY quickly, so does the jug pet version) just like fighting a normal mob

It is best to sell back to the NCP (or use yourself) sells rarely on the AH and it would be just a waste of money.

This is great for skill-ups. Cheap to make, easy to farm (use THF Steal Ability)... A good alternative to Roast Corn for that early Cooking recipe.

the best bit about this recipe as a skill-up, is that you can go to San d'Oria starter zones (east and west Ronfaurre) and go between stealing from Forest Hares/Wild Rabbits & farm water crystals from the crabs and pugs there

Broth
# Oct 21 2004 at 7:30 PM Rating: Excellent
A jug is used by a BST in the way that when they use it the enclosed familar will fight with them just as if they just charmed a pet. To answer one of the other questions i saw, yes it will be cheaper if your fame is higher...
Question
# Oct 17 2004 at 4:01 PM Rating: Decent
I don't understand how the broth is used, or what it does, or what the advantage is?

Okay, so it "calls" a mob. Does that mean that the mob follows you around, that it joins your fights on its own, waits for you to charm it, etc.?

RE: Question
# Mar 02 2005 at 3:26 PM Rating: Decent
Broth is an emergency resort when in a fight against something tough - incredibly tough. When your low on HP or even MP and can't find a mob to charm, you can use "Call Beast" to have a pet automatically by your side to take hate off you.
Macro: /ja "Call Beast" <me>

Broth is by no means for lvling up. You can only use 1 per 5 minutes. I have heard that broths are considered to be a decent challenge mob to you, so its either 1 or 2 lvls under your current lvl when used. For all you beastmasters reading this, buy the least expensive broths if not farming with them because they are emergency use only! :P
What does it do...

[Yellow]I am looking very forward to making my own jug pets.

You have to be level 23 or above as BST to be able to use the HareFamiliar (carrot broth jug) and SheepFamiliar (meat broth jug) and these things kick butt.

Once called they last about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on what you are fighting and I don't believe there is a level cap on them (as far as BST job goes) so as I grow in level and strength so will my HareFamiliar and SheepFamiliar.

I have been using them as of late and am amazed that something this easy to make makes my hunting so much more fun and easy.

/smirks
/say to gob butcher in Bubu Pen. .. 'do you feel lucky punk?'
/gob replies .. 'yep sure do'
/em summons SheepFamiliar
/gob gulps and falls to the ground
hey

# Jun 09 2004 at 2:46 AM Rating: Decent
Right now, as I type, I am making these. I buy the carrots for 31 gil, selling carrot broth for 15 gil. Losing 16 gil per carrot. I think it's a nice and cheap way of lvling cooking to 3.
RE: take with caution...
# Jul 14 2004 at 3:19 AM Rating: Decent
yet it takes 4 carrots to make the broth - thus you are loosing 64 gil per broth

San d'Orian Carrots are very cheap at a merchant in S.Sand (Aveline, old lady elvaan at F-7). and water clusters/crystalX12 cost about 400. just sell them to the NPC again (unless you are a BST24). No profits here but you won't lose much money anyway.
Bah!
# May 19 2004 at 5:04 PM Rating: Decent
You will not make money with this. Reason? As of right now there are 15 people (out of approx. 2000) who are BST lv 23+. You cannot make an item only .7% of the world's population would even be able to use, and expect people to be flocking to buy it. It's a money pit that gets you to cooking 3, that's it.

most bsts do their own cooking, it's part of being a beastmaster because you can't take the risk that there won't be any of the pet supplies you need on the auction.

Selling Carrot Broth
# Feb 27 2004 at 7:19 PM Rating: Decent
Alright set the record straight for me. Started making this and I can't find anywhere to get rid of it. AH doesn't sell it for what it's worth and the NPC at the guild won't buy it back from me. Any ideas. I am tired of giving this away to BST guys running around.
