these things really help out. they are barely worth the 200k you spend on them though... but if you are Elvaan, I suggest you get one!!

lvl 50 Elvaan Red Mage...
should I use Gold Hairpin +1 or Valkyrie's Mask?
some PC's say hairpin 'cause Elvaans don't have much MP and don't really need the extra attack, some say mask 'cause Red Mages are "battle mages" and COULD use the +7 attack (and because it gives me a little extra MP, too).
any suggestions/thoughts are welcomed!

I would suggest you get a gold hairpin +1 rather than the mask because at higher levels, you wont be fighting in parties but staying back with the Whm or Blm. When RDM's fight in higher parties, they can get in the way of the thf and accidently get hate, that is devasting knowing its happened twice to me. You wont be soloing until 74-75 of your RDM life. I recommend against waiting for 74-75 to solo. You can do it sooner, and if you do, you'll get skillups better!
I'm level 65. I've been soloing T Orcs in Davoi since 64 trying to get my BLM's AF Coffer key. I take the MNK types mostly, though I have killed a RNG. I get about 130xp per kill. I do this between the "wall" and the center island. Stay near the entrance to Monastic Caverns, or just on the other side of the bridge. I get plenty of shield and parry skillups this way. I'm currently using Duel Rapier because I like Parry skillups and don't really care how quickly they die. I break about even on Deaths and XP gained.

just got one cristmas day, 130k that day, and 100k today, they are quite common...
All I know is when I start making the +1 version of these there is going to be a major drop in price. I was upset at the fact that I couldn't afford one of these so what did I do? Took up goldsmithing!! Watch out Bismarck Low prices coming soon courtesy of me =)
