I dont see what all the huff is about, this ring is AWESOME!! I get to dump 40 unneccessary hp into 40 useful mp and i paid like 1% the cost of astral ring, 10 mp difference. No biggie!! Awesome for RDM/WHM like me. After convert i can heal all the way up and be right where i was before the rings! GET THESE NOW!!

5k on Leviathan in Jeuno
Desynth

These can also be desynthed requires goldsmithing cant say the level you get silver and gold ingots on them i've desynthed a few playing around they sell about 5k on my server so pretty decent money since gold ingots sell for 30k but alot of people buy them to use too so i stick with farming gold orcmasks :P but hey if you get a key in davoi and see the chest and get one of these things may as well desynth it and add it to the gold ingot stack if you get lucky =D

lol I'd rather have these than Astrals sice there 800k a piece on Hades DONT EVER COME TO HADES!
RE: hades sucks
# Apr 06 2005 at 10:08 PM Rating: Decent
lol the Astral rings on my server (Cerberus) are getting up there too. I have one Astral ring and one Electrum ring. I only have the Astral ring since one of my friends gave me the gil for it. I decided that the Electrum ring would just be a really smart buy for me since I am a poor whm. Seriously, why would I want to spend almost 800k for a ring that has only 5 more mp than a ring that is less than 20k? I can equip both so why pay more? lol!
RE: hades sucks
# Oct 31 2006 at 5:27 AM Rating: Decent
why pay more? because astral ring has a fancy word in its description "Convert" oooooooo aaaaaahhh!!! isnt it such a fancy word, so just like shiny things noobs are more attracted to it

Crafting Recipe?
# Feb 14 2005 at 8:39 PM Rating: Decent
I know that this apparently can't be crafted, but has anyone tried using a Fire Crystal on a Gold Ingot and a Silver Ingot? Rings are made of a combination of two ores and a fire crystal, and Electrum is an alloy of silver and gold, so it seems logical.
Thief's Kote
# Feb 02 2005 at 9:28 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah these rings are 10-20k on carbuncle. Items are usually expensive because of their great abilities offered to low lvl people. Rabbit Charm is expensive, somewhere over a mil i think, and gives +1 steal to low lvl. Thief's Kote, however, sells for way less even though it offers the same thing because it's lvl 70. I hate how things work like that >_<....

the big issue of cost difference between these and astral's, is not only due to the level requirements (as mentioned many times), nor due to the few extra MP astral's gives...

what most lower level players (and those who don't care to strain a brain cell) don't realize, is that experienced players use /equip macros to swap out equipment constantly during parties. whether it's the bard switching to his song specific instrument to play a buff, a redmage switching between armor for melee or casting, or a whitemage switching MND rings for MP rings, it's a fairly common and required practice (especially post40 all jobs).

now, in the case of electrum vs astral, astral will win handsdown on all fronts. it provides a larger MP boost, you can use them 30 levels earlier, and (here's the big one) when used in an /equip macro... you get the immediate gain of 25 more MP as long as you have at least 26HP ^^ when you equip these, you have MP+20, but that 20MP doesn't show up to play until you rest/refresh it up >_< so think of it this way, in an emergency, can you unequip 2 of these, re-equip them, and gain enough MP for a CureIII? no. you can with astrals.. that is the main reason for the price discrepancy....

now with the dec. update, astral ring has been moved to BCNM50: Treasures and Tribulations. since then, the price of astral ring has jumped a lot (possibly driven up by rich, angry thieves who were angry that their main source of coffer picking income is gone >_> jk)

Also, i dont know if its just me being a newb or what, but at least on the whm front, what white mage really has time to deal with flipping rings in a party? using another macro and watching your character flash and lose your target (if you use <t> macros that is) can mean the death of your tank at times. flipping to a dark staff when resting and a light staff when healing is one thing, but is the extra 2 points of curing with flipping rings really worth the missing of a cure spell?

RE: hmmm
# Jan 21 2005 at 5:35 PM Rating: Excellent
This information is completely wrong. If you do not know something for sure please do not pass it on in the forums.

Astral Rings DO NOT grant 25 MP immediately. 25 MP is "converted", meaning it is added to your max and you need to rest to get it back.

This ring is great for Summoners, since they're solely based on what they can do with their MP.

Before the new Trial Size quests were implemented, you had to be level 60+ (with some exceptions) to obtain avatars to make being a Summoner worthwhile.

Level 60+ players have various ways to come up with 150k for an Astral Ring. Not saying that money grows on trees, but a few BCNMs or a few NMs will get you two of these rings.

Even now with the Trial Size quests available, in order to become a Summoner you must have a level 30 job. At level 30 you can camp some NMs. There's also the new level 20 and 30 BCNMs, although I know nothing about them or their drops.

So no.. a white mage at level 10 isn't going to have enough money for an Astral Ring unless they kill about 2250 orcs for Fire Crystals. (Although after killing that many you won't be getting Fire Crystals anymore.. or be level 10.. but you get my point.) ^^ However someone with another job at a decent level can save money for an Astral Ring. I know a level 30 Bard who farmed for two weeks to buy two Astral Rings. I, however, just waited until my White Mage could use Electrum Rings and went the cheap route. ^^

the posts above refer to the posts below (oi, my head...)

basically, electrum rings are for people that want their high-leveled mage characters to get more MP(I know I will get a couple when I'm higher level). Astral ring is for people with high-level players that want to level their lower-level mage characters.

At level 20, 50mp is a huge difference, especially for a galka or hume. at level 40, 40mp is... useful, I guess.

That's the reason for the price difference.

Nevermind the difficulty involved in obtaining electrum ring vs. difficulty to get astral ring...
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 13 2004 at 5:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I picked it up on Garuda server for 12k. This ring and its close comparison to the Astral ring, yet huge difference in cost bring up a point of discussion. The topic being the idiotic, ludicrous, and simply retarded, for a lack of better words, pricing system that player themselves set... Perfect example is the Electrum Ring vs Astral Ring, who in their right mind would actual pay an extra 150,000 gil for 5 extra MP's? There is an abundance of similarly compared items with ridiculous price difference in this game. I personally find it extremely frustrating when one willow log sells for 300 gil, yet 12willow lumber sells for 700 gil... *sigh*
RE: Pricing System

its actually all based on lvl, look into it some time and notice that leaping boots are lvl 7
RE: Pricing System

Have you ever heard of capitalism? Because the AH in FFXI works pretty much the same way the actual free market works.
RE: Pricing System
# Jan 14 2004 at 10:08 AM Rating: Good
There's a very good reason for why an Astral Ring costs so much, and its not the extra 5mp. Astral Rings require lvl10, while Electrum requires lvl40.

At lvl10 two +25MP items will double your MP.
RE: Pricing System

Until I can get Astral...
# Dec 10 2003 at 3:23 PM Rating: Good
I'm surprised no one has posted about this ring yet... it's a toned down version of the Astral Ring. Since it's obviously impossible to get one of the Astral rings before lvl 60 or so, I'd like to shoot for something a little more realistic, like this ring. Anyone know what mob/ lvl drops it, where this mob can be found, what quest gives the ring, etc. I can't seem to find any info on it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 01 2004 at 9:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) its only 8k on ragnarok
