ninja hate
# Sep 17 2007 at 8:23 AM Rating: Decent
As far as I'm concerned Enmity for NIN is only useful on HNM's God's, not so much Parties, because the fight is fast, the damage is high, so even with enmity you won't hold hate through an entire fight in a party. However if your fighting something like Tiamat, or JoL, and you need to reach the hate cap fast, the more enmity the better, so these bad boys are the way to go.

I could easily see a bard wear one of these for a bcnm40 with the mandra's other than that, seems kinda useless besides for thfs or nin.

I've never had an issue keeping hate in BCNM 40, I've had a HUGE problem getting hate OFF me in BCNM 40.

Just gotta start it right:
Cast Foe Lullaby on Black mandy
Wait for white mandys to gather, cast horde lullaby on middle white mandy.

You now have aggro on white mandys and with 1 voke, you don't have aggro on black mandy. Just make sure your bard-healer is right on your butt so you don't lose hate to him from him curing you.

I actually use a healers earring for this bcnm.

Actually, + Enmity is valuable to Thf's as well. The more enmity we have, the more hate is transfered onto the main tank. Just so long as you set a macro to remove them once the hate has been transfered from your first SATA. If we Thf's can keep our tanks holding the hate throughout the entire battle, we have done our job well.

I would imagine if u were a nin/war these earrings would be key for tanking, in a party that can deal a lot of damage.
Enmitty

i am lvl 54 NIN/WAR (Blink Tank) i used one of these before i hit 54 and it did help me Tank alot, but now i just got 2 Eris's earrings with Enmitty +2 each , we had a pt with WAR and DRG/WAR and they both tried to provoke it off me lol they couldn't!! Enmitty +4 is already more than enough for our WHM to do seal curaga while engaged and mob will still stick to me !so as a NIN/WAR i love this Enmitty :)

Often times when I am leveling my White Mage, I think to myself, "If only there was a way for me to get more hate, I need to level my evasion skill!" Thanks Square! This item is the answer to my prayers! Now I just have to get my White Mage up to level 39 so I can use it.
enmity multiplier?
# Mar 10 2004 at 11:56 AM Rating: Decent
i heard from someone that enmity is like a mulitplier... so if you had like enmity +3, then you get lots more hate, like from 100 damage, 300 hate. Can anyone confirm this?
enmity

This earing is +1 enmity. I can't imagine what any of the classes that can wear it would use it for- it would seem most appropriate for a paladin or a warrior.

Well, what it is used for is kind of self-evident. Holding hate, which is the main job of any tank. Equipment that adds enmity would make that task easier, as mobs would be more inclined to agro the person with the added emnity.
Asside from war and pld, i would say ninjas would be most interested in this earing. They often tank, using blink to keep themselves from taking damage. However, they have less natural emnity than pld and probably war.

There is no such thing as "natural enmity." Enmity is based on damage and the use of skills and magic. The reason NINs can be such excellent tanks is because they were designed to DD. A good NIN should be doing good damage, not true-DD level, but close.
