melee cant solo this?
# Aug 20 2007 at 3:33 AM Rating: Decent
hmm i seen someone below say that melee CAN'T solo this.well i just beat his *** up! 75mnk/17thf lol.yeah he got lotsa hp and stonaga and breakga are a pain but if ya can time ya WS right u can interupt most ov these.ok so chakra with a regen effect helped a lil but its only lvl 1 so only gained 90hp through the regen.any way i finished up still having 500hp so wasnt really worried.im sure i woulda made him look silly if i was subbing nin.anyway just wanted to say he can be killed with little trouble by mnk for sure dont know bout other melee.no drop but i wasnt fighting him for that just for the crack!so if your thinking ov giving it a try as a melee job its worth a go! daggerclaw was up aswell a boosted chi blast saw to him no probs no drop either! ><
owned

I just got owned by this NM as a lvl 58 war/thf i was just farming and he aggroed on me and owned me in an instant.
too weak NM

I would say lvl 55 is about right, I soloed him at a 75 rdm/blu. I was goin out wondering if I could take this guy, considering the list of NMs Ive soloed, I thought to myself why not lets go try it. I read up on him and noticed he casts all aoes and really resists silence. So when aoes are a problem I just sub bluemage and let headbutt take care of them. For some reason I don't get many resists on blue spells when I sub blue lol.
Well anyway, I see this mickey mouse clown and I quickly buff up. I notice no campers on him so I figure his drop ain't worth much. Oh well no worries, this is a pride thing. So after casting SS, phalanx , cocoon, ice spikes , haste and enfire. I draw my sword and come at him from behind. He starts casting stonega IV and I quickly knock it out. Then I tossed up barpetrify after he tried breakga. Anywho, to make a LONG story short, he has a tone of hp and didn't mount any offense vs my rdm/blu. Got no drop but can say that I soloed him without any trouble, I didn't even lose 1 hp lol. If u go to solo him,use blu sub if you using a mage job or pld, otherwise sub ninja and use bloody bolts.

oh yeah one last thing, I saw daggerclaw just as I iced off waraxe, I had 300 tp on me and needless to say dagger didn't have a good day. Fast kill and no drop again lol
Hes an HNM duh

I soloed him as 75RNG/NIN. He took me down to low HP a few times by spamming Stonega 4 back to back, but his accuracy was bad enough I just used bloody bolts and got my HP back. I had about +50 in evasion gear on also, and another +10 from food. His Stonega 4 is weak compared to Kirin's (obviously) so dont let that scare you away. His Stonega 4 did about the same amount of damage as a Stonega 2 does from one of the Ahrimen mobs in Xarcbard. (Usually in the 200 range, though there was one that hit me for over 400. He cast it maybe 7 times while I fought him)

Best idea is to fight him at 74+ with a NIN sub, and I imagine any of the jobs that can either cure themselves, or use bloody bolts, could solo him easy. He does have massive HP, took me 20-30 min to kill him, but was never in much danger. I was down around 350 HP once, but bloody bolts were draining 50-60 per shot, so I was back above 1000 hp pretty quick.

Based on how weak his normal hits were, and the fact he pretty much couldnt hit me other than with magic, I would say his level is about right. He does have some higher level abilities, but he gave me zero exp when I killed him, and his accuracy was horrible.
LOL

OK. w/e genious who posted that this mob is level 55 should be hurt. Storytime! Grab your popcorn.

I was farming coeurl whiskers(not bad 20k/hour) and im 62rng/26thf so im like hmmm, lets go see if that Dragonclaw NOOB nm is up just for the sake of making a little extra gil off the knuckles, I "flee" to the very bottom of this map and widescan and wow, Dragonclaw is up... Sleep bolts 6 hits he goes down N O D R O P S. I was a little irritated but w/e. I came on here and read on the dragonclaw posts that some people got caught by this guy while killing dragonclaw so I said hmm maybe hes up too.. LOW AND BEHOLD he is up.. so I call my lvl 70 rdm friend and assume (seeing as its a lvl 55 NM) that we can easily kill it. THIS MOB IS NOT LEVEL 55. we got owned and i then became 61rng/30 nin again ; ;. All jokes aside, dont try to solo this NM. 4-5 60s or 2 70s could do it..
Crazy amount of HP

I fought this thing last night first as THF71/RNG35... almost died. It casted a Stonega IV and I took 925 dmg. I hit my Perfect Dodge Macro and My Scroll of Instant Warp and got out of there as soon as possible.

2 hours later...

I come back as THF71/NIN35 and was more prepared.
I ate a Meat Mithkabob to start. casted Utsusemi: Ichi at a distance. attempted to SA and unleash from behind, but it agged before I could get it off. It casts Breakga, Dispelga and Gravga.. But those didn't matter cause my shadows would absorb the spell. My only concern was Stonega IV The most dmg it did piercing through my shadows was around 250ish. All I had to do was recast Utsusemi and then switch to my bloody bolts and regain my lost HP. Here's the parcer details of my battle. As you can see, I got off 7x Dancing Edges!

Dasnack - The Waraxe Beak(17)

Hope this information helps those that decide to go on a rampage and fight this thing. Totally wasn't worth it, didn't get the drop, got 4 meats and 3 skins though.

What a gimped piece of gear to drop from such a pain in the *** NM. The acc is nice, on rainy days only, makes it a waste of time to aquire. Only purpose I can see is to skill up clothcraft. Even there, I would look for a different synth, these would take a long time to get enough to lvl cloth on. If you want acc look into Gi's, snipers, life belt, specs, ect. I would rather sack 6str for snipers, than 20att from O.Kote. Or for a neck piece you got peacock or specs and later optical hat for head. My advice is don't waste your time on this NM for an item you would wear once a week.

Ok, so the Ochiudo's Kote are immensely better than this in general. In the rain, it is up for debate. Let me point this out though...

Ochiudo's Kote: 500,000-550,000 gil
Monsoon Tekko: 8,000-10,000 gil

Just a slight difference in price...

I think these seem like terrific gloves. If you use them while leveling extensively in Boyahda Tree, these would cut down on embarrassing misses against those freakin' crabs.
Totally worthless
# May 26 2004 at 11:23 AM Rating: Good
the level you would have to be to wear these, not to mention the level to solo this guys is much higher than the level to wear ochidos kote. What good sam or mnk isn't going to wear the kote? plus if you can solo these you'd prolly have your af gloves making these worthless...

Just in the case of monk:
I would think it pretty debatable whether 8acc is better than 20 attack (and -10def). So, at least during rainy weather, this might be a pretty good alternative to Kote.

Also (like I said, just in the case of monk), monk AF gloves aren't that great. 4str and a bonus to the boost skill. So, at most, monks just use them in a /equip boost macro.

str+4 is awesome for monks. lv75 monks wear the lv72 samurai earring (str+2 GK+5 parry+5) just to get the str+2, to give you an idea... most monks wear their AF gloves all the way.

You don't say... But how is that better than the +20 attack from Ochuido's Kote? Are you talking about Mithra MNKs or in general?
RE: Totally worthless
# Oct 18 2004 at 2:19 PM Rating: Decent
+20 attack increases your potential damage, Your not gonna deal that damage every time without +STR

+20 attack isn't any good if you can't hit the mob

TheSamurai has a good point.

would be a good item to keep with you to switch out with other, less accurate gloves for sam when its raining. there are a lot of rain zones, where it does rain often.
