Should help... they took the synth out of the game in the Feb 2007 update but they're putting the synth back in during the march update... just now it won't make the same thing

(P.S. Je vois que t'es un francophone... donc je peut te traduire mon commentaire si tu ne comprends pas.)

I think there is a desynth for the padded but i havent test it yet, i am a little angry for the price so i dont synth those anymore, i am just trying now to lvl my smith with the 2nd recipe
Earth + 2 Lizard skin + Iron Sheet

Next time i synth a padded i'll try to desynth it with Lighting + Padded cap and see if this can be done, i'll tell you

Hi All,

According to the new upgrades today (sept. 13th), the synth and price of the padded cap is supposed to be modified... is anyone aware of that changes, the real effects? I am currently lvl33 blacksmith and was used to sold my padded cap for 2600 gil at the weapon shop and 2900 gil at the blacksmith guild... would that change to a lower price? (for somehow prevent bulk smithing lvling from 26 to 34 ... while making easy money??)

If you guys figure it out :) if would be nice to post it down here!!! :) thx...

Once the maintenance period is finish I'll go try it out and let you guys know... ;) lets hope they increases the sell prices :) ... to have even more easy money.

PS: I also noted that they modified the rusty cap fishing rate.. but didn't tell if increased or lowered :(... I am not fishing them anyway but it might impact the cost of them at AH..

See ya all around guys.

ya they have been nerfed, on seraph they sell for 800-900 gil to normal vendors. Guess they decided that to many people started making to much money that way....

ya, i read about this too, i just got my smithing to 35 last week and had just started making good money off this without breaks, hopefully we could still make some quick money although it won't be the fortune i was hoping to obtain, really bad timeing, lol

They lowered both the rate of fishing rusty caps and the gil value of padded caps - substantially.

What would be the lowest level your smithing has to be to make these if you were doing it on lights day with advanced suport?

I started synthing these at lvl 25. I got a lot of breaks but when i would make one i would get .3 skill up. Worth trying and a fast way to lvl smithing.

Hurrah, someone from my server I've actually seen...

Of course you know this, but you can get skillups on things even if you fail--at least I have.

From all the guides i've read about rusty caps, it is smithing skill that is needed to make padded caps using a rusty cap and light crystal, not leathercraft.

I can varify this, ive watched a couple people synth padded caps with a rusy cap and a light crystal...

it is indeed smithing, I just spoke with my friend, and he has been leveling his smithing on these..
What about...
# Feb 13 2004 at 11:10 AM Rating: Default
The rusty cap you can fish up... it's also level 35, but with only 8 defense, does it have anything to do with these 2 caps? (Strong and Padded)

You can also synthesize Padded or Strong Caps from Rusty Caps. The ingredients are:

Light Crystal x1
Rusty Cap x1

Padded Caps are the normal result.
Strong Caps are the exceptional result.

I see people synthing these all the time in Rabao.
I'm unsure if it's a Smithing recipe, or what the minimum skill level is.

I started sync them at 29 smithing skill and got it all the way up to 34(have not got anymore skillup after 34)
