Are fire worth it
# Sep 20 2005 at 4:37 AM Rating: Decent
well i am not sure how it is in your worlds but in pandemonium i can buy a stack of fire crystals for 5k and copper ore for 9-12g each now lets just say i can buy ore for 10g 5,000+(10x4x12) break that down to 5,000+(40x12) and from there 5000+480= 5,480 spent on materials and a stack of copper ingots sell for 11k here... now if you can do the math (or understand it as i explained it) then you can see that obviously you can make money off buying and, or using fire crystals... well thats my 2cents...

Alchemy = 29
Goldsmithing = 16.6
Leathercraft = 1 ;p

<--- name is really Saithe

hopes this helps some people make a lil gil...
goodluck.......

This IS lvl 14 craft

the lvl of the craft does not mean the required lvl to make it. It means that is the maximum lvl you can have before you stop getting skillups. So if an item is crafted and has lvl 23 for example, if you have skill of 19 you will be able to successfully make it (with a few failures) and it will raise skill on occasion. HOWEVER once it raises your skill to lvl 23 you will no longer gain skill ups from this item. You can make 200 in a row and you will never see a skill up. At this point you hafta move on to a higher lvl, and thus more difficult to craft item. Remember, the skill lvl is not what is required to make it, but the farthest it will take you before skill-ups stop :)

how is this a lvl 14 craft?
# Apr 29 2004 at 7:07 AM Rating: Decent
Quesion: how is this a lvl 14 craft? I make them np with lvl 9 goldsmithing np and only get .1 added to goldsmithing lvl...

Kudos to the people who pointed out the guild for items, WAY cheaper then AH and less time consuming then mining or killing truck loads of worms. Down size is everytime I go there they are all out =( lol someday ill roll in with 80 k and lvl my goldsmithing to ungodly proportions <sigh>

anyway, just wodering how this isa lvl 14 skill and notlvl 9? I was under the impression that you couldn't make anything past 10 without doing the lvl 10 quest from guild? Am I wrong?

You can work on and level on recipes above your cap, but you will not gain skill-ups past your cap. At level 9, you will gain skill-ups on this until level 10 and then stop unless you take the guild test.

I would have to agree with this post. You shouldn't be able to synthesize anything that is above the next skill level without taking the test at the guild. Maybe this item was adjusted down during one of the updates? Also, as for only getting .1 added to the skill level, I run into that alot when I'm synthesizing something which might be several levels over my skill and have even found that I get no xp from it sometimes.

an interesting idea but not quite how it works. you can attempt and succede at synthes that are the next rank, even before you take the test. i do it all the time. but i'm not sure if you meant it would make more sense if you coudln't. b/c then i would agree that the rank system makes more sense if you coudln't attempt crafts above your rank.

You get moghancements by having furniture of various elements placed in your mog house. What you place in the storage space of that furniture, or what seeds/crystal you put in the flower pots has no effect on moghancements.
Moghancement from pots

Does the seeds and crystals you have in a pot effect the type of Moghancement you would get from that furnishing? instead of the pot by itself.
Moghancement: fishing...from a flower pot
# Feb 26 2004 at 9:32 AM Rating: Default
i have a brass flowerpot in my mog house and recently i have gotten the Moghancement: Fishing in my key items. I know that this is from the new patch that came out 2/25/04, but how would this flower pot give me fishing enhancement? Is it because i have grain seeds in the pot with no crystal? (the flowerpot is the only furnishing in my mog house so i kno it isn't from another piece of furniture)

Most of the flowerpots seem to give the Moghancement Fishing, including the Brass Pot.

Mine, Buy, Hunt
# Feb 10 2004 at 11:22 PM Rating: Default
I get a lot of my fire crystals while lvling. I use to get them off Vultures..but I don't remember. I mine all my zinc ore because even if I loss the pickaxe it's still cheaper than the AH sometimes. Also I am a member of the goldsmithing guild. When I get a zinc ore or two, I go over to the guild and buy my copper(9-12 gil each) to make the ingot. I can't make the sheets yet but when I can it will be easy with all my ingots in inventory.
RE: Mine, Buy, Hunt
# Feb 12 2004 at 11:33 AM Rating: Default
The only problem I have with mining is that it takes so long to find a mining point. I remember I went out with a pick one time and it took me 15 mins to find a spot in Zhenrum Mines. Could be, though, that this is just a heavily traveled newbie area, though. *shrugs*

You can't buy brass sheets in metal works; they sell bronze sheets.

Just like everyone else said, far cheaper to buy brasspots from Boyt's Knickknacks than to make them yourself.

I have seen them as low as 950 from NPCs in Bastok Mine region (Boytz's Knicknacks). Price could be fame related.

Oh, and that is A LOT cheaper than making it yourself unless you harvest or are given the resources. What I usually do is ask ls mates if they have any resources and would like a brass pot made. Definitely not a goldsmith grinding item...I wonder why?

# Nov 15 2003 at 2:36 AM Rating: Default
u can buy a brass flowerpot in the mines shop for around 1050g. And use ahelluva lot less in resources than 3 brass sheets and yet another fire crystal. (brass sheet = 1 fire crystal and 1 brass ingot) (brass ingot = 1 fire crystal, 4 copper ore and 1 zinc ore)
get my picture?

Well, since I grow my own fire crystals (consistantly getting 18 per brass pot), save all the zinc ores from worms I kill while leveling, and only buy copper ore (~9-20 each), it is worth it. When I finally get enough goldsmithing to make the pots (currently at 7), I'll have something to use all those brass sheets I used for skill to get there.

btw, the higher your fame, the lower the cost at the NPC. I have huge Bastok fame and they only cost ~950 to me.

How about telling us how to grow fire crystals?
What seeds to use?
What crystal to feed the plant?

Sometimes. I've gotten over 50 fire crystals this way. Ever since the Dec. 2003 changes, though, I haven't been able to grow any crystals at all.

Yeah i used to get 18 then too. Max now is 4. Its nice just for light crystals, who wants to buy something to really carry around for fishing.

Brass Pot
Herb Seeds
Water Crystal

Plant on Watersday, feed the water crystal on Watersday and harvest on either Firesday or Watersday. From 5 pots I usually get 5 stacks of fire crystals and a stack of Bay Leaves. My last harvest went as: 18 crystals, 19 crystals, 6 bay leaves, 20 crystals, 7 bay leaves.
Now I've got 10 pots and I'm looking to harvest over 100 crystals every few days. Good luck, and good growing!

also harvest as close to full moon as possible but dont wait to long or the damn things die
RE: not worth it
# Nov 15 2003 at 12:54 PM Rating: Default
It IS worth it if you hunt your own fire crystals, but NOT if you buy all your components. So worth, in this case, is just a matter of opinion.
RE: not worth it
# Nov 15 2003 at 10:51 PM Rating: Default
you could sell the fire crystals for gil, use half of that to buy the flowerpot, and pocket the other half. so it isn't worth it.

the only time doing anything with fire crystals is worth it, is when you're trying to raise your crafting skills. they're simply too inflated to use regularly
RE: not worth it
# Dec 17 2003 at 3:03 AM Rating: Default
Yes I agree that it would cost more to make it. But an increase in craft skill is something you cannot buy.
