Well, angina, if there was an apostrophe in "persons", that would mean it's a conjuction. And I don't know how proper it is to say, "Look at this person is english skills". lol

Actually, adding an apostrophe can make it a contraction, or it makes it possessive. Example: "Thief's Tools" indicates that the "Tools" belong to the "Thief". A conjunction is a connecting work such as "and", "but", "or", etc.

Don't you feel cool for making fun of someone? Your post was about as pointless as this one. Take care, have a nice day, and don't give as much of a **** about people's English skills.

I really had no choice but to get irritated by MIRAGE's response. He/she was trying to be clever but unfortunately just highlighted that they themselves are none too bright when it comes to spelling and grammar.

Their response - 'Taking a look and this persons english skills shows just how bright he is. That whole mess is once sentence.'

How it should have read - 'Taking a look at this persons English skills just shows how bright he is. That whole mess is one sentence.'

Please, if you're going to slate someone for their weakness in spelling or grammatical accuracy, make sure you yourself don't make mistakes. Preferably, just keep quiet.

And, because I'm a jerk, I'd like to point out in turn that in your post you failed to place the apostrophe in "person's" when correcting MIRAGE's grammar.

He kept up at it for the same reason he can't string a cohesive sentence together, even with a spell check.
craft cap lvls
# Sep 12 2004 at 10:02 PM Rating: Good
goldsmith 28
smithing 19
woodworking 13

these numbers are the cap on skill ups you can obtain by making these

id say it would be safe to make these with minimal failures at about

25 goldsmith
16 smithing
10 woodworking

and maybe even a little less on smithing and woodworking since they seem to be the secondary skills to have for making these

hope this helps :)

what exactly does

Goldsmithing (28)
Smithing (19)
Woodworking (13)
Yield 4
Fire Crystal
Copper Ingot x1
Iron Ingot x1
Yew Lumber x1

mean?

Do you have to have all those levels? or could a 13 woodworker, make it, a 19 smith, or a 28 gold smith?

or is it...

Iron Ingot is made by 19 smith
Yew Lumber is 13 woodworking
and thief tools is 28 gold smith?

lol

Neither.

It means you personally have to have attained all 3 of those crafting skill levels to make this a "trivial" recipe (assuming the numbers are right). If you're too low in any of them - like you have enough smithing and woodworking, but you're only level 10 in goldsmithing - you will not be able to make this.

When going for my RSE quest at Gusgen, i was so excited that i forgot to buy thieves tools, place my HP at Jeuno (Mine was at bastok), and buy an instant Warp Scroll. Took along a lvl 50+ Dark knight to help get me the keys (Offered to pay him 5k for each "Magical Pattern"). Found a chest immediately...Dark knight went around slaughtering monsters...3 hours later he died after being gangbanged by alot of wights/banshees. Atm i was broke after buying some stuff for my thief, so i told him to buy me 1 thief's tool. 15 minutes later i try it, BOOM!, i get cursed...for about 20 minutes. So than i msg my link shell and ask them to buy me some living keys...30 minutes later...BOOM! i fail and a mob appears and kicks the ***** out of me/darkknight/friend. I gave up finally, and i actually only got 1 magical pattern after we all came back to Gusgen...Stupid keys. The rest of my RSE i got with skeleton keys..expensive..but worth it..Female Elvaan RSE seems to be very expensive on my server...Hume Female too. >.<
use
# Mar 23 2004 at 11:55 AM Rating: Default
this is the perfect item to use to do the RSE in gusgen, be a THF there mining, and take a stack of these, find the chest and open it for the pattern, ive spent like 3 hours NOT getting the key as a THF, and another THF came by and he opened the chest with the tools and spent a whole 3 minutes to my 3 hours getting the pattern...
the other keys
# Feb 29 2004 at 10:37 PM Rating: Good
the other keys such as Skeleton (the best) and living keys (moderately better) but the problem with living.. is ifyou fail the opening a monster will spawn on you.. (most cases a lvl 50 "mimic") which copies the chest.. and kills most anyone.. skeleton keys are the best because each key has a number... where you divide the number into your dex.. and that is your percent chance to successfully open chest.. Skeleton's number is .8 i think living key is 1.2 and the one im forgetting atm is 1.5
RE: the other keys
# Mar 20 2004 at 1:44 PM Rating: Default
Ok, just FYI the number isnt .8 for skeleton key cuz if you have over .8 dex which everyone does your always gonna open the chest.
RE: the other keys
# Mar 22 2004 at 6:27 PM Rating: Decent
Not really...if you have 1 dex you have a 1/.8 chance. If you have say, 80 dex you have 80/.8

That's about 100% chance.
RE: the other keys
# Sep 01 2004 at 10:01 PM Rating: Decent
With 1 DEX you would actually have a 125% chance of success...
With 80 DEX you would have a 10,000% chance for success...

Obviously something is wrong with the 0.8 figure.

if you're going to correct someone's math you should at least make sure yours is correct.

RE: the other keys
# Oct 21 2004 at 4:21 PM Rating: Decent
LOL. The math is right, until they slap on the percentage sign. Guys you have to divide by 100 when you add that pesky % :o]
RE: the other keys
# Nov 18 2004 at 1:59 PM Rating: Excellent
Actually, you multiply by 100.
For example: .57 would be 57% (.57 x 100).

So 1 Dex would be 1/.8, which would equal 1.25.
1.25 x 100 = 125%, like Koriko said.

However, maybe the equation looks like this: (1/.8)%
It looks the same, but it's different, because the x 100 transformation has been done already, so

(1/.8)%
=(1.25)% by substitution of 1/.8 = 1.25
=1.25% chance of success.

Please don't rate me down for being a math nerd. :(
RE: the other keys
# Dec 18 2005 at 5:05 AM Rating: Default
yay someone else that understands math! or atleast fractions and %

came across this as a crafter and have no experiance but .8 can't possibily be it, 8 maybe, but then that doesn't explain why a thf with 80dex can fail on a chest. i'd bet you all my equipment and gil SE didn't make it that simple.....have they ever?
what i know
# Feb 26 2004 at 12:35 PM Rating: Decent
Well what i know through my experience is as follows. After each use the tool disappears. They can fail to open the chest as well.

Speculation part:
Im pretty sure that living tools, and skeleton keys have a less chance of failure to open the chest. Probably higher end chests in dungeons like Sea Serpent grotto have chests that would require a higher lvl thief tool to open without failing.

I haven't had much experience, but from what I've seen they vanish after each use, success or failure. This was with thieves tools, not living or skeleton keys.

Doesn't appear to work if you have thief subbed, I just tried it by selecting chest and hitting use thief tool and by trading it to it, didn't work. Was level 40 with 20 thief sub. Probably has to be your main job.
If I am missing something please do tell.

RE: What are they used for?

instead of speading hours after hours to find the key then spend more hours to to find the the box, you can cut down the first part and concenrate on the finding part, and it won't work all the time just like pickaxe and mining
