well, Alla (being normally wrong and nub) does specifically state Goblin Leechers and not Gamblers, and I would imagine that for such a spell to be dropped by a mob would be like a 1/1000 drop anyways, since the only other way is the quest which takes a lot less time anyways. (Millioncorn x12 x10 --> Sheep guy at Selbina, and buy a slime oil from AH @_@) either way, before seeing this comment, I was not even aware that a Scroll of Warp could be found any other way other then the quest and BCNM alt. drop.

The millioncorn referred to in the above post is one of 3 items (in the Selbina quest: Only the Best, NPC: Melyon, square I-9) given to Melyon to feed his infinitely hungry sheep, and raise both Bastok and San D'Oria fame at the same time, thereby raising Jeuno fame also. La Theine cabbage can also be given, the name of the 3rd item, preferred by players with deep pockets (meaning rich, sort of a pun there) for its fame/inventory space ratio, escapes me presently, check the quest listing.
Also of note are two facts: 1: raising Jeuno fame lowers Norg fame. 2: Norg fame cannot be lower than one.
So, raise Jeuno first.

Corn is for sandy >.> you need to trade LaThiene cabbage for Bastok fame. That is all.

Regarding Goblin Leechers dropping Warp scroll ---- Bovine *****!

I've killed an amazingly large number of Leechers and not even one Warp scroll dropped. I've played for 2 years and I've seen hoaxes like this one before.

Someone is laughing at the people who believe this BS. I'm laughing at them, too.

Ive killed a few leechers in the past becuase they were in the way, never seen a warp scroll drop from them. If it was a mob dropped scroll the cost would be much lower on AH. Stick to the bastok quest.

Fame info
# Jun 27 2005 at 8:51 AM Rating: Decent
the fame depends on your nation you belong to and the race you are to get enough fame for the quest from unlucky rat. i had to do about 12-13 quest to get the quest because i'm from sandy and i'm an elvaan.

I completed 7 Bastok quests to get Warp. Starting with zero. The quests were:
-Welcome to Bastok
-Hearts of Mythril
-Gourmet
-Elvaan Goldsmith
-Fallen Comrades
-Bare Bones
-Minesweeper

I started with no fame, now i'm level 2. I'm rank 3 and level 25. Didn't take very long at all.
yes u can get this
# Nov 13 2004 at 11:15 AM Rating: Decent
I have just confirmed that you indeed can get this from gob leeches. I saw it drop in the valkrum dunes. it is a VERY rare drop. prolly 1 in about 100. maybe more from what my LS has told me TH2
does help but not much. if u are planning on trying to get this good luck, as this may take longer than its worth.

I've never heard of being able to accquire this scroll from a Leecher. o.@ Since no one's confirmed it I'm going to have to go ahead and stamp a big fat "no" on that one... seems a little strange that one of the "big three" BLM spells would be this way. Aspir, Drain, and Warp are quested in Windurst, San d'Oria, and Bastok respectively -- why would they throw off the delicate balance of that plan by making one of them droppable from a random level 20 mob?

I really don't think it will drop from a Leecher.

I'd be inclined to say that whomever suggested that Leechers drop Warp was mistaken. As far as I can tell, mobs only drop scrolls for spells of a class they're capable of using. For example, you can only get Sneak/Protectra/Barstonra from WHM-type mobs. You can get Bind and Blind from BLM-type mobs. You get Bard songs from BRD types like Yagudo Piper/Drummer.

If indeed you can get Warp from Goblins like this, I'd be willing to bet that it comes from Gamblers, not Leechers.

Per Tekkub's Fabulous Fame Guide http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=11&mid=1075687192334166459 you need level 2 fame in Bastok to get this quest. As this method of measuring is far more accurate than counting quests, I recommend this guide to anyone working on fame related issues.

The quest to receive the Warp Spell is called "Mean Machine". It is given by Unlucky Rat at G-7 in Bastok Metalworks.

This quest requires 10 Bastok quests completed before it will be given.

The best way to do this? 10 turn-ins for the "Gourmet" quest.

The Gourmet quest is given by Salimah, in the house at L-8, in Bastok Markets. Salimah needs certain items at certain hours to for the meal she is cooking. This quest IS repeatable, but you are required to move to a different area and back (zone) before you can repeat it. Logging out doesn't work (I tried it, would have been quicker). Zoning into the Bastok Mines is pretty easy from the house, just check your map. While this might be a PITA to do 10 times, you will actually make money doing this. Here's the breakdown of which items she needs, which hours:

Treant Bulbs- 0600-1159, a reward of 200 gil. Purchased in the Bastok AH for 1200 a stack, or about 100-150 apiece.

Wild Onions- 1200-1759, a reward of 350 gil. Purchased in the Bastok AH for 4k a stack, or about 350-400 apiece.

Sleepshrooms- 1800-0559, a reward of 200 gil. Purchased in the Bastok AH for about 3k a stack, or 250-300 apiece.

Obviously, if you do this at the right times, using onions or bulbs, you will make money. You'll make more using bulbs. Note that even if you hand in one of these items at the "wrong" time, you will still receive a reward of 100 gil. So, even if you buy some treant bulbs and turn them in at an offtime, you will still break even on these turnins.

Once you have completed 10 quests, purchase a slime oil from the Bastok AH for about 6-800 gil. Turn it in to Unlucky Rat once he has given you the quest, and you get the scroll. That easy!

As you can see, you can have fame, 3-500 gil, and the warp spell, all for about a half hour's work, including the time you spend buying the items.
RE: An Economical Approach
# May 05 2004 at 3:01 PM Rating: Decent
Just wanted to say this advice is great, ran to Bastok at level 16 and followed it to the letter. I farmed about 6-8 of each food item before going, so ultimately I made several hundred gil getting my Warp, even after purchasing the oil from AH! The only exception is that I had to do the quest a little longer to raise my fame high enough, about 16-18 times; I'm a taru from Sandy, as mentioned, race/allegiance may have a bearing on the actual amount needed to fame raise. But hey, I'm not complaining, getting paid to receive Warp after an hour or so's work when it's selling at 10k+ on AH isn't a bad deal IMO. :)

Yes, you can. But you must gain fame in Bastok 1st. Fame gained in Windurst is not recognised in Bastok.

talk to unlucky rat on the first floor of metal wotks(g7). hand him slime oil. you'll get the warp scroll as your reward. must have at least 10 quests done in order to get this quest.
RE: mean machine quest
# Apr 29 2005 at 4:51 PM Rating: Decent
Yup it certainly doesnt take any more than that. I did the gourmet quest on my mule 12 times by handing in one stack of wild onions (1k a stack). I didnt care what time of the day it was because since i was a hume from bastok, so i got rank 2 fame pretty shortly, and did quest pretty quickly. Make a quick 20k in half an hour.
