Have a bud before going to work.

I've found that eating the buds (regardless how many leaves they have) increases my chances of synthesis/desynthing w/o breaking my crystals. The 4 leaf lasts the longest out of them all, but drops seldom. Right now I'm stockpiling materials for crafting a few lvls above b4 I eat them. I managed to craft a few items that were 7 levels ahead of me, sometimes a whole ten w/o breaking a crystal using the mandy buds. >^-^<
The 3 leaf bud is not eatable unfortunately...

So these things really do increase your luck? I thought that was a myth.

Yes, the Yuhtunga Mandragora in Yuhtunga Jungle (Outside of Kazham) drop these as well. I'm in a party right now, lotted, and won. Had no idea what it was for but saw someone else lotting for it and did it :P Hope he wasn't a Windurst person <_<

TH+1?

Since that is an unfounded rumor, let me throw out some similarly unfounded but logical reasons why this item would not add to TH. First off, how would that rumor start in the first place? It's four leaf clovers that are lucky and Lucky Egg that at least has the word lucky in its name/description. There is nothing about this item that should lead people think that it is in any way lucky. Secondly, this and every other item in the game has a purpose. This item's purpose is known: a quest. Thirdly, this is not even a very rare drop off low level Mandragora. Would SE really put something in this game that is so easy to get and adds to TH? I doubt it. Thief's Knife and THF AF2 Gloves are both extremely rare drops and are the only items I know of that are PROVEN to add to TH (i.e. they state in the description, or someone has gathered reliable evidence on hundreds/thousands of mobs). Now, before anyone furthur propagates this rumor, how about someone actually does some research/testing?

I apologize if this is a bit harsh, but I'm parting in Yuhtunga Jungle right now and I just got into an argument with someone who wanted the item for a reason he wouldn't mention until he won the lot.

If you're not a believer then why were you arguing with a guy who wanted to lot on it? Was it just to be an ******* or did you really need that 1200g from the quest?

and 3 leaf is manndragora.

The Teacher's Pet and The All New C-2000 quests both use a 2-leaf mandragora bud, not the 3-leaf.

I've only seen the 3-leaf drop in Elshimo and off of Tom Tit Tat, and the only use for it is for the repeatable Mandragora-Mad quest, which nets you 1,200 gil per turn-in.

When your looking at your invetory list, you are right, but as you can see from the screen shot the real name is as listen. Sometimes names don't fit right in the inventory window and they abbreviate.

Maybe I'm not clear on what you meant... but in the abbreviated form it is "3-Leaf Mandra Bud." I'm VERY sure they didn't change how mandragora is spelled just for this item. So this is most likely a typo.

Anyone figured out what the 3-leaf buds are for?

Hint:

The info for what to do with this item is on the web page somewhere :)

Look around the Windurst quests.

Does anyone know if these have any hidden effect? Not talking about eating them. Speculation on the 4 leaf variety is that it brings luck (mine has never left my personal inventory since I got it). With the Corsair job coming up supposedly influenced by luck a lot, this 3 leaf bud might be nice to have for that also.
