a zanbato is a katana styled blade without a guard or defensive mechanisms. they exist because i use one in training lol... and i forge blades as a hobby.
Lol you think that feeding people your ******** will make your ***** bigger or something? You're so full of ****. Go run your mouth somewhere else little boy.
Wrong. Zanbato is actually not a real sword. ftw. Zhan Ma Dao. it was a Chinese sword of the Song Dynasty. it had a wrapped handle 37 cm long making it easy to grip with two hands. The blade was 114 cm long and very straight with a slight curve in the last half.
Most likely, the Zanbato is just a mis-drawing of the Zhanmadao when it was poorly drawn or translated by japanese travelers who saw the sword in action.
pwned jps. O.< Zhan Ma Dao=Real Zanbato=Not real.
and zhanmadao translates to "horse-slaying sword" or "horse-chopping saber".
O.o i seriously doubt it, i have two blades... i have the Zanbo, and the Omokage, one i use for Ballista but i always keep the other blade present on me, ive used both in Exp PTs and ive found that my Zanbo actually hits more, then my stupid Omokage with its +4 Dex and StoreTP+2, problem with Zambo is the delay... i ain't got the money for the +1 but if i did. i'd by it Asap
it looks more like aurens sword from FFX the wide bladed katana he wields in the begining of the game loos exactly the same -the decorations auren had on his
I just had one of these made, and signed (thanks Phenom~), for a samurai friend of mine. Since there seems to be a shortage of them on fenrir, he was pretty happy with it. ^^
The recipie posted is indeed missing an Iron Ingot, as rbw pointed out.
i followed a link from a guy who posted in the masamune weapon thread and thought this might be a bit interesting.
"However it can clearly be seen that the weapon is derived from the Horse Felling sword called the Zanbato which could take out a rider and horse in one horizontal strike."
Perhaps the Zanbato is SE's modification of Clouds Buster?
Just thought i'd mention this, i followed a link from a guy who posted in the masamune weapon thread and thought this might be a bit interesting.

"The buster sword is a sword nearly a foot in width (blade) and nearly six feet in length. It is featured in the video game "Final Fantasy 7," where it is wielded by the main character, Cloud Strife. This sword was never used in any real historical situation however it remains a definitive fantasy weapon. However it can clearly be seen that the weapon is derived from the Horse Felling sword called the Zanbato which could take out a rider and horse in one horizontal strike."

Never really seen one of these before in-game, I heard it looks kinda. . . weird. Like Cloud's original sword from FFVII. Anyone have an in-game pic of it?
When I first bought the game I was standing in front of the AH when a japanese player came up next to me and synthesized a Zanbato with a fire crystal....
