soloed this as a 73 smn for a friend xD tho i did cuz up once due to lack of sleep and not playin this game in over 3 weeks for anythign other then dynamis, but took little over 35 minutes of carby kiting to bring it back down from 99%... regretably my ***** up wiped us at 1% lucky the whm still had RR and got me up before he despawned :D grand total time including the wipe 1 hour 2 minutes =/
Having more people actually makes this fight harder in my experience, because the TP spam can get really out of control if he starts doing dimensional death a lot.
I would say a blink tank, a rdm, the whm who needs it, and one or two DD would take this guy easily if they were careful. Manafont is the dangerous part, kiting him when you see him use it is a good way to avoid a lot of damage.
(I personally had a 75 bst/whm friend that wanted to try his hand at soloing it and had no problems other than when it started regenning at one point and cost him about 15 minutes worth of work, otherwise it was pretty cake. Carrie can tank him really well and do some decent damage, then between call beast timers just stall him with the downstairs bats until another carrie is ready. just helped on this and quest starter is Pieuje's door in chateau d'origalle.
After that you get pieuje's decision in quest log, head to fei'yin for fight, and return to narcheral with mask, but cant get it till you get chateau CS.
(was in fei'yin and at nacheral for awhile cause whm didnt have quest started)
anyway.. easily soloable as smn. free or free+ carby, + endless circle o' kiting.

i done this quest,all i need to do is to complete it... just to trade the "tavnazian mask"to narcheral...but narcheral dont accept it... he dont say anything once i attempt to trade it to him...i just wondering why... please help me out!

Just did this fight last nightx3 for myself and two other whms. we had a 65 sam, 75 rng, 75 smn, 60 smn, rdm 55, whm57(me)/56/54. Acutally fought him the night before with 75brd, 75whm,55rdm, 75thf, 65blk, 57whm, 55rdm, 57whm(me) and we all wiped. Its a very difficult fight. but the way we did it was refresh the smns and focus one whm on each individual mellee along with the 3rd whm back up healing. thanks to all who helped me.
I finished this fight not to long ago for myself and another whm who I joined in his shouting party. We had 3 Whms all under 60, 2 75 Sams, a Nin, and a Pld both at 74. We kicked this dead guy's ***! We had set up a Light Skillchain with the Sams, and the Whms and I Cure IVed him to death on the Magic Bursts. The first fight, he didn't do anything to powerful except for Firaga 3 or 4 a few times. He Manafonted around 1/2, so the Sams whipped out a few SCs and we spammed Holy^^ The second fight, he used Sleepga 2 on the melees and one of the Whms, used Curaga 1 to wake them, he used Sleepga again -.- so when he started to cast, Ninja 2hred to int. his cast, Sams did a Light SC and the Whms and Pld MBed 4 Holys ftw^^ I have this piece now and I'm REALLY happy with it...only 4 more levels till I can equip it^^

This piece of white mage body armor was easy. Are party setup was me (WHM58) and a 75 pld trindel and a very nice 75rdm/nin ninh and he had some friends help to they were like level 40's whm three of them, and one smn level 40 something for back up healing. The Mob's DD wasnt strong at all did 200 dmg to pld which kept hate good. I would cure IV after every DD and the other helped too a lot. Took about 4-5 mins but we won got mask traded to Narcheal BAM got healer's Briault good for whm at level 58 -4 emity is like a little piece of heaven and the MP+15 doesnt hurt to have, and the +15 i think to wind resistance is good for silence which is a whm's worst enemy, oh and it looks cool too. I spend about 1 hour shouting in jeuno before i jsut asked a rdm/nin out of no where to help and he said yeah got the pld which is a good friend elvann with good gear and a good pld. Good luck with all of the other white mages out there shouting for help.

Ok, me and another person on Fairy Server confirmed it. You do NOT have to be present as a white mage to spawn the NM for this, you do have to be a whm to get/start/finish quest, but for the NM fight you can spawn as any other job you have.
I've got issues with this piece of armor. I would love to get it. I've been wanting to complete my AF by finishing this quest since level 54. Every weekend, for the past 17 weeks I've sat in Lower Jeuno on Gilgamesh spamming shouts for help. NOBODY even offered to help. The only /tells I've gotten were ones like "LOL! OMFG! You'll never find anybody to tank that NM!" and "If you find 15 Lv.70+ people to help you, I'll come too." It is getting annoying.
In the meantime, I have leveled up 11 levels (now 65) and farmed Spider Webs and Tree Cuttings for hours on end (Lvy and Mangavin are the china bots guarding the Goobbues, and I've now officially pissed them off to no end with help from my bestest best friend Blindedangel). Anyway, I got enough Gil to buy full Noble's set, and I'm debating on whether or not I should even finish this. I still shout in Jeuno, but I'm getting tired of it. I do want to get the complete set eventually, if only just to store it with NPC.
Anyway, if you're on Gilgamesh, and you're not filled with abject terror by this NM, could you please help me out?

Judging from my own and others personal experiences with this quest it either ends up being really easy, or a monstrous pain in the ***, you obviosuly fell victim to the latter.

Well, here's an update so far.
After my post in February, I went a whole month before I got another Tavnazia Bell. I heard some people shouting that they needed help with RDM AF in Fei'Yin, and they agreed to fight the WHM AF battle as well.
The setup was like this:

I casted sneak on myself, put up stoneskin and blink, and then spawned the NM. He appeared, the PLD used Provoke, and all the damage dealers started their 300%TP weapon skills. His health was down to about 50% within the first minute of the fight. Silence wouldn't stick on him, so he started casting come sort of spell. Stun either got resisted, or he used some sort of Chainspell ability where he casts without interruption. The whole alliance got hit with Blizzaga III, 300-800 damage to each person. The other WHM used Curaga III, got serious hate, and got hit with Dimensional Death for 1,100 damage, being the first to die. The SMN used Astral Flow with Ifrit, and the Avatar was able to tank for about a minute before it was defeated. The RDMs and myself have been curing a lot, and have most of the tanks and melee back to full health when the next -aga III gets cast (don't remember which. Think it was Aeroga III). Everybody takes another 300-500 damage. SMN dies, BLM dies, and the two low level RDMs die. The PLD uses Invincible, and is killed by Stone IV within seconds. The NIN and WAR are putting up shadows again after the -aga spell, and the DRK and SAM get killed by Dimensional Death. The DRK took 800+ damage, the SAM took 900+. RNG uses Sidewinder, and does a ton of damage, almost enough to kill the NM, and then dies from a Dimensional Death doing upwards of 1,000 Damage. The NIN manages to get hate again, the last RDM uses chainspell and starts nuking/curing. Blizzaga III pops off again, I die, the last RDM dies, and the NIN dies. The BLM now has hate because the NIN is gone, and a quick Dimensional Death later, he's face down in the dirt too. The last few remaining members use their 2-hour abilities and perish shortly after. The NM had about 5% HP left when the last person fell to the ground.
I'm now Lv.75, and people can't believe I don't have my AF body piece. This is for them to read, so they'll leave me alone about it. I will get it though. Mark my words. That NM will SUFFER.

Just another little addition, two of the Lv.75 people who helped me offered to help again, but because I only had 1 bell, they disbanded. They told me it had to be insanely bad luck that time with the NM casting so many spells. The PLD told me that this NM scared him more than tanking Kirin. Now that I know who Kirin is, I now understand the comment. Anyway, thanks to everybody who helped, and so, so, SO sorry for all the lost experience.

Thank you to everyone who helped with this AF. I'm sorry CK 75 drk, Kami 75 sam, Basc 75 Blm, Pikka 72 Whm, and Giggles 70 rdm for the deaths. AoC you did well raising and keeping the others alive for the second round. So that future whitemages know, be prepared for sleepega; that's what caused the deaths in our party. REGARDLESS, WE STILL WON!

I just got this piece and am very happy with it! I'm on Lakshmi and a very very nice 72 smn solo'd the NM for me(Thanks Nedra!). The +15mp is nice, I especially like the enmity-4, that means less hate for me! (I cure too fast >.>)

My first attempt, after hours of putting together a party, failed. I gambled my own bell with another whm, whose attempt we had died on. After months of giving up hope, my linkshell encouraged me to just try again. This week, I set out to get another bell, which took a long time. Finally got it. I hesitated going to Fei'yin to do the battle once again. This morning, just a few minutes ago. I got my mask and have turned it in :D A 75redmage/27ninja solo'd it for me. It took a long time and things looked glum when the two shadows popped and a pair of bats came after me while resting. I was able to kill the bats (thank you Sulfix for the skill ups!! Pays to know a beastmaster or two). When I went in the red, one of the shadows came after me. My redmage succesfully came to my rescue, killed the shadow, all while Mr. undead was attacking him and spamming dimensional death. Minutes later, we were both out of mp (me 16, and redmage 0). Redmage was down to 444 hp and NM still had a little to go. I took the risk with one more shadow in the room and I was still in red. It was now or never. I ran, shadow didnt aggro me :D and BENEDICTION!! Saved us and Redmage pulled off a blink and after a few more wacks, WS on his ***! The greatest thing I have yet to see in my time playing. Almost brought me to tears when i saw, Limerick obtains a Tavnazian Mask. I wish I would have known how to speak Japanese fluently to express my happiness and joy. Thank you Muiras! I look sexy! Woooo!
The AF1 is the Blessed Hammer which you have to do first and you get the quest in Sandy(@ lvl 40). The second required AF are the Healer's Duckbills (feet @ 52) Third, the Healer's Cap (@ lvl 54) Fourth, Healer's Pantaloons(@ lvl 56) Fifth, the Healer's Briault(@ lvl 58) Sixth, the hands (@ lvl 60). Allakhazam provides guides to these quests, just go to "Item Lookup" on the left-hand bar and type in "Healer" and it'll show every piece of WHM AF and at the top of every page the quest should be listed.

alright i did this fight already once but the other party poped the monster but we killed it so the mask i got didnt work. SOO now i have to get a bunch of new people together to do this fight again and no one on Asura wants to help me. please if any one from Asura is ready this and has a high lvl job or knows someone with a high lvl job /tell Gohon.

I did this the other night with SAM 75, SAM 73, PLD 65, WHM, 72, WHM 61, WHM 56, WHM 58 (me) and another 58 WHM...needless to say we owned the thing ^^ very easy fight, but Dimensional Death is a killer. Be sure to bring a poison potion or two cause when the mob gets to about half health it will start to spam Sleepga x.x Happy Hunting ^^

Hey ppl 54 whm named Sephiiroth i need help on Siren server i need help with fight and these high lvls r being lil {cowards}* b/c i dont have Raise II k which 75 RDM/NIN and 75 PLD/WAR and a full pt of healers have the guts to help me. I'm only doing this early cuz i dont wanna stop lvling for a while i have all the other af parts (including Garbage {Citadel}) plz /tell Sephiiroth.

Well if you have both I would wear the Verm CLoak... It takes away the added stats on the AF hat though... But the refresh effect on the Cloak may help you out in times of need...
I myself when I get there am not going to get a Verm Cloak, as I dont know anyone who can craft it, and I am not spending 5mill+ on it...
I do want a Nobles Tunic for 68+ mind you.
But ask the parties you are in what they whould suggest, ask like 3-4 and tally up the results ^-^

O.K i am extremly upset at the moment, just did this stupid quest, Tank died when mob was less than 20% alive, party escaped. Went back to Jeuno for more help. Had me <56 whm> Sam, Rng, Rdm, Nin, War all 70+. Ran all the way to Fe'Yin to discover that I lost the bell from th other fight... Needless to say i was hot! I apologized to everyone, Teleported, logged off and took a long shower.
Moral of the story: If you lose first fight, go back to Eldieme Necrop. and get bell drop again

We fought him 3 times. Just to clarify for other people, you CAN trigger the pop even if your main job isn't WHM.
I went with a 72BLM, 70BLM, 56WHM, 59WHM (me), 63DRG, 61RNG, 69SAM, 70NIN, 75PLD and 73RDM.
Needless to say we kicked it's ***... Just be sure to let the paladin tank, as the Dimensional Deaths cut right through the blinks (as always). Our nin managed to grab hate just before he DD'd, and went down to 100-200ish MP, and took two hits with blink down, so byebye nin. The PLD took DD after DD without much trouble, his lowest was maybe 700HP during the entire battle (out of max 1450ish).

DRK and MNK tanked with Utsusemi. He likes to use -ga spells so silence him if you can(resisted my ES + Silence when Enfeebeling magic capped) in the end I had around 90 MP, great and fun fight. With silence he would be easy.

I was with ls and we went and got the WS savage blade. After that i asked if they wanted to help me kill the NM for my AF3 and they said yes.
Lucky me a long time ago when i was lvl 50 getting LB1 items, some guy gave me a random /tell if i was getting my AF3 item bell and i said no and that i did not have one. I invited me into there party a gave me the bell :)
After two months later LS takes me up to Fei Yen to kill the NM. 7ppl all together in the party and all 70+ besides me who is 60. We had 75ninja tank and he almost never took and damage unless his shadows wore. Battle was over in like 1min and i got my AF3
If you cant get auber party like me i recommned making sure u have a ninja tank and a pld as back up incase somthing happens, get enough dd and mage or 2 and you will win. Its much much easier with ninja tank.

After two months later LS takes me up to Fei Yen to kill the NM. 7ppl all together in the party and all 70+ besides me who is 60. We had 75ninja tank and he almost never took and damage unless his shadows wore. Battle was over in like 1min and i got my AF3
If you cant get auber party like me i recommned making sure u have a ninja tank and a pld as back up incase somthing happens, get enough dd and mage or 2 and you will win. Its much much easier with ninja tank.
You need to kill Shadows in Eldieme Necropolis for a drop (Tavnazian Bell)
Take this bell to Fei'Yin (not alone mind you) with an alliance of 60's and if you want to be safe, have a Nin tank or a high 60's or 70's Paladin tanking.
Trade to ??? to pop NM. Dimensional Death hurts and can kill DD's very quicky if the tank loses hate. So having good tanks and potentially more than 1 tank is always good.

Just a note on Briault. This piece of equipment is Godly at 58 when you get it. The -4 Enmity makes a huge difference allowing for some pretty crazy Curing routines that a RDM or BRD wouldn't dare do and you can begin using hate getters like Flash and not have the mob turn on you. White Mages have the very good luck of having one of the best AF sets in the game, and the AF1-3 Briault is one of those nice peices to have.
