well this is a bad wep for whm trust me i kno
you would be better of using the "ash staff" for the extra hp and mp this is too long delay if your soloing but in a pt its good because u dont actually hit, but it looks better than most staffs so thats a good point
how do you..

your woodworking level needs to be significantly higher than the item you are trying to craft.

Guild Points
I am Veteran Woodworking: 105 Guild Points Each - 1680 Total

But here is the interesting part. Turning in the +1 version is worth 120 Guild Points.
Don't bother with a pole unless you want to look funny

I boost every second round of attack with H2H. If you use math to actually count 2 fist blows versus 1 hit with the pole, H2H wins every time.

The only reason to level a pole as a MNK is if you in fact leveling a white mage subjob in anticipation of Chi Blast. The pole comes in handy to use with Hundred Fists, but as a common weapon it is seriously subpar.
pretty good weapon

This is a GREAT weapon for low level soloing with mages. It can finish off a fight if yur not up to using more MP to do it.

Okay, I realize this game is nothing like EverQuest. But, since it's the only MMORPG I know, the weapons seem like crap. How do you figure out if a weapon is good or not?

I just got this weapon for my 7 Monk, and 11 damage is nothing to scoff at before level 10 or so, as far as I can tell. Without attempting to go so far as calculating DPS, for a weapon that you can equip at level 5 it's very nice; Especially with boost as a monk. You can boost every 2nd or 3rd attack (for more damage) with this weapon, as opposed to every 3rd or 5th (lower dmg attack) with a hand-to-hand weapon.

From what I gather, a weapons "measurement" is the same as EQ's. There's damage and delay (and from what I can tell, the delay is measured in similar fashion to EQ, milliseconds or something. Thus, a weapon (say for example the ash club above) with a delay of 402 will have a (approx) 4.02 second delay. You can figure out DPS and thus the rating of a weapon just like EQ.

sorry, I forgot a word there... "And yes, delay is pretty LONG..."

Not a bad weapon...for lvl 5, but will mostly be used by people who are leveling the sub class close a newb city. And yes, delay is pretty on this but then it is a 2 hand-weapon and have high damage for the level requierement. BLM and WHM weapon mostly.

Not a bad recipe to try you woodwork either, those can sell higher than the cost of the materials while enhancing newb woodwork skills.
