I picked this up for about 40k (carbuncle) - I wear it for when pulling and its great for soloing as well (farming!).

Better def then Brigadine and evasion bonus, yes please. I still wear briga for fuidamas and in most exp pty situations though. . . until I get to wear my Black Cote.

Not double, it just costs you the price of an item the next rank up. Like to buy a rank 1 item from somewhere other than your nation, you gotta be rank 2 and it'll cost the price of a rank 2 item

Despite how "useless" this item is, I still bought it. Yes, I'm a PLD. Yes, it's useless. But this sucker looks so awesome...especially with full AF (besides the body, of course). The EVA+5 will help, I mean, this thing isn't completely useless. R.K. chainmail (which I have for exp PTs) or I.M. cuirass would be better, obviously...but to get the look, go with this baby.

I despise this armor for its uselessness. It looks good and everything, but wearing this in an exp party is absurd. 36 defense? Hahahaha, so it has 5 more defense than Tactitian Magician's Coat. However, it lacks the +1 INT, MND and CHR that the Coat has. +12 resistance to dark? Hahaha. Too bad Dark Carol is much better. +5 Evasion? No. The only jobs that can utilize Evasion are Theif and Ninja. Theif has Brigandine, so no go. Ninja can't wear this. For the other jobs that can wear this, boosting Evasion is worthless, as their evasion cap is too low to utilize. Also, against VT and IT, +5 evasion does no good, since the mob's accuracy will be very high against what would be Easy Prey/Decent Challenge to them.

This is actually a great piece of solo gear for any THFs who don't have a Scorpion Harness. Not all fighting is done in exp PTs, you know. As a THF, the higher your evasion, the better you can solo. I'm about to pick this up. Even without it, I have +24 evasion from my solo gear (10 from Emperor Hairpin, 6 from 2 Dodge Earrings, 3 from Nomad's Mantle, 5 from Survival Belt), and I can solo any non-bat or undead DC mobs without much of a problem. This will help even more.

Just because a piece of equipment is outclassed by other equipment in XP PT situations, does not make the piece useless. I happen wear my solo gear a lot more than my XP PT gear, as I don't just grind out level after level as I'm assuming you do. :P

This armor isn't quite as useless as you make it out to be in the correct situations. For a MNK, between level 50 and 58 (where you get Temple Cyclas) there aren't many options. You can wear a Shinobi Gi at 49 with a DEF of 33 and no stats bonuses. (I see a lot of MNKs doing that). You could also get a Master's Gi, which has Acc +4 on it and goes for about 150k on Midgard. For Mithra (where DEX/Acc isn't a problem so much as lacking STR/Att) you could get Spiked Earrings (+5 Att / -5 Evade) and then wear this armor to compensate for the -5 Evade. (Of course it can be argued that Evade is almost a bad stat for MNK if you're aiming for more counter attacks =) Plus the Aketon has 3 more DEF than the Shinobi Gi. Regardless, the Aketon does offer some flexiblity to MNKs that they may not realize they have.

You should be able to purchase this from Jeuno. just like RK belt, people are willing to spend their CP on this and then sell it for a hefty price. RK belt was 50k on Pandemonium. I'm not anxious to see how much this Aketon will be. :(

Look at the date the person you replied to posted that comment. Back when he said that the database didn't have the picture of the image and didn't have that job listed in the description.

Please don't be so quick to flame people.
