farming and profit

I farmed all of my silk threads that I used for crafting green ribbons. It was a slow process, but after NPCing all the ribbons, I came away with a profit of 350k (after spending gil on GP items and crystals).

Farming Anyone???

Well, I look at these numbers that people are throwing up about costs of these synths in total amazement. I have been farming silk in the Maze since my early 50s, and in fact started off thf just so I could farm stuff like this. Now I head over to the Maze with 6+ stacks of earth, wind and lightning crystals. Head to the silk room, aggro one crawler and run around until all are trained, then knock em off. Usually throw in a steal every time timer is up. Can usually make a stack of silk cloth every couple of hours, and now, I craft green ribbons on the spot, desynth what I made. Desynth not too successful, obviously, but expect that I will get to 60 in about 3 more visits. So average cost of making a green ribbon: time plus ?400 gil? (no I dont usually farm my crystals, other than lightning). While I am waiting for repops in the silk room, I look for beetles, grab shells, and make carapace powders, so when I hit 58-59, I can do the hunter cotton if I want, or sell the powder. Moral of the story: farming can save you major gil in these low to middle crafting levels.

Skilling up and options.

Just finished with this item and here's some info for you crafters. I started them at 52.4 or so, using adv support from guild until about 57.5 as I have not the clothcraft gear yet. I made about half of my cloths from scratch as they are 300% (169k) or so of cost (60k) to make, the other half I made from threads bought at 40k stack making it 120k for cloth stack. With the new guild in Al Zahbi buying cocoons and taking your time making them all isnt a bad option, here's the numbers: I used about 23 stacks of cloths to get 52.4 - 60.1 (its a sub for smithing) and spent 650k on the ones I made from scratch, 1.2M on the ones I made from threads. so.. making from scratch for 8 lvls = 1.25M making from threads *same = 2.4M, making from cloths from AH (my server Bismarck) = 3.35M or so, so buckle down, its gonna cost or take some devotion, hard to dsay what youl get back from NPCing these, just get rid of them fast, dont worry about a 100 gil diff b/c of fame in other cites, remember.. lol 23 stacks = 276 ribbons - cloth losses of course so.. 2k x (example) 240 ribbons = 480k from NPCing them, so, you WILL lose no less than (my way cost 1/2 & 1/2 was 1.85M) 1.85 - .480 = 1.37M loss, thats the almost cheapest way. Not bad considering.
Desynthing hmm see above posts.. thats a lot of no 2k returns from breaks and very few cloths back, cause avg yield is ONE thread so... have to desynth 3 ribbons just for one free synth, and cost to make on is only 5k or so, etc etc, the math says NPC them unless you think you can desynth at least 70% thread yeild or more something like that just NPC them imo. Good luck, OH and always use Moghancements!! lose a lot less stuff TRUST me.

I was desynthing these in hopes of getting some silk back through my cringing leveling at 54.

I did
Lightning Crystalx1
Green Ribbonx1

NQ : Silk Thread
HQ1 : Silk Threadx2
HQ2 : Silk Threadx3

Lots of fails;; but I got a bit back. Revenue was better then selling them at 2K a piece. If you dont fail them all.

[Edit] Clothcrafters!
Hunter's Cotton is your friend! It doesn't sell, but then again neither do Green Ribbons. The differences is the cost to make.

You need:

Clothcraft (63)
Yield: 1

* Crystal: Earth
* Carapace Powder x1
* Cotton Thread x3
* Distilled Water x1

Cotton Thread can be obtained for cheap from Goblin Armorx1 and Lightning Crystals, start desynthing!

Carapace Powder
Bonecraft (21)
Yield: 1

* Crystal: Wind
* Beetle Shell x2

The shells are only 1K each, it cost about 25K to make and 45K to buy!

At 175K A Silk CLoth, this is a LOT cheaper! Granted if you dont purchase everything from the AH, but if you do, you'll still save gil! :D

actually any vendor will buy it for over 2k if they will actually take this piece of equipment. A little under if your fame is bad and a little over if your fame is good I believe, though not more than 100gil either way from what i am told
