This is now sold by one of the little rat NPC's in Nashmau, down the stairs from the Moogle next to the dice NPC. I got it for 495k and from what I saw there is 1 up for sale per day.

900k-1M on my server... after looking it up on cannotlinkto it says 190k in Norg. I go ahead and OW there and wait till 9am and it's not available.

Well the price has gone up for a number of reasons. One of them being that this weapon is the highest Great Katana NPCs can use at the moment. Also, SE changed the model of the katana. It no longer looks like the standard Great Katana, but instead now uses the Zanbato model (giant meat cleaver). Average Norg price now is 500-600k, whereas the average Jeuno price (on Phoenix) is a nutty 900k-1 million gil.
Why not just go buy it from the NPC? Because it only appears during a certain time now. I don't think it's related to regional control, but perhaps the day and moon status have something to do with it.

So SE changed the model (curious as to when), and made it so that it dosent always show in the AH, and made it the last GK upgrade for NPC... 2 of the 3 are freeking stupid.

just bought this today from the NPC. im wondering what affects prices from NPCs? does the current AH price affect it? cause the GK cost me 509,533gil no where near the ~200k that ppl have said it was around. and at the same time the AH price for it is currently 600k.
maybe my norg fame sucks balls or something, but ive already gotten the Utsusemi:Ichi quests and the Trial fork.

...So noone has figured out how to make this appear? Right now the rankings on Kujata are 1st: Bastok, 2nd: San d'Oria, 3rd: Windurst.

Hmm, curious but I can't seem to get the NPC to sell it to me. Is it fame based? If so, how high? I've gotten Utusemi and Leviathan quests, yet nothing. Or maybe it's only sold on a certain day?

and im still usin the AF1 weapon..dinged 49 last night and i still hit well but not as well as id like. So, in retrospect, i dont think SE will fix this so called "flaw"[Gold]anytime soon. Otherwise everyone will be a SAM :P

It says its sold in Norg...is that true or false?
It's true, I see it there every time I try to accept my Utsusemi quest. It costs ~200k depending on fame. Buy it from the AH it'll most likely save you 10k gil.
Well after looking for weeks on the Kujata server AH , I finally found one , prices were 160-180k . Bid 170k and got it! Too bad I cant use it quite yet though. Very hard to find at the AH lately, it shows up maybe once every week or two.

sam weps are always hard to craft/quest so its oobviously gonna cost a lot, but other than that this is a nice weapon as for dmg and good delay(the more delay the more tp gained per hit). it does cost a lot but if ur (up to par) on gear u can out dmg drk sometimes, and thats always funny as hell :D
Boy, between AF1 and the level 54 Jindachi, samurai really get the shaft on weapons.

Odenta - Level 48, ONLY dropped from BCNM50 which makes it hardly ever appear on AH unless a samurai who was fortunate enough to own one is selling theirs, and even then, they go for between 150 to 180k. I saw one on AH when I hite 48 and bought that sucker up for 160.
Kiku-Ichimonji - Level 51, and WTF. I'm about to ding 52 and I'd like to be up to par, but right now the price history is chilling at 170k on Gilgamesh, none for sale. I have Utsusemi level Norg fame, and the vendor is asking me for 204k. I'm not about to take a 30k loss to have this weapon for 2 levels.
I mean, I'm fortunate to have the Odenta, that's cool, but what about the poor guys who don't ever find/are able to afford either? Level 42 sword all the way to 54? COME ON, what was SE thinkin? Maybe its time to level pole arm.

Dood... i payed 200k for this katana on midgardsormr... i serisously need my money back once i hit level 54
Alright, I am just wondering what is so great about this weapon, I can understand the price part, but other than the 66 dmg, the delay is the same as any other Great Katana, and there aren't any bonus's, only thing I can think of, is its the only decent Katana worth buying after af1, other than that I dont know why Daison a lvl 61 Sam would even care about it? I am going to sell it as soon as I reach 54 and get my 130k back lol

prices were 140k, now climbed past 180k, and I know I get get them from the NPC for 189k with rank 4 Norg fame, this is ridiculous but I will own one.

Im ending up using my AF1 katana, i just dinged 51, so im looking to pawn my Fuma Kyhans for this weapon. Unless Samurais get badass/ ability katanas in Promathia.

The gulf between af1 and a reasonably prices GK has widened on Siren...these go for 170k and Odenta prices are climbing

Pretty much. It sucks. Odenta and this were about 120k a piece on Ragnarok. All the previous GKT were cheap. I have the money to spend, but it sucks spending it.
