Wow do I feel retarded. I somehow bought two of these. It really stinks that they are EX. But at least I got the quest. Now I get to sell it back to NPC for major loss. ;;
fame based

i did this just now. after placing the cupboard in my mog house, i left and came right back in and got the teacup. this is not time based. it is fame based. my current sandy fame is 8, so i don't know what the minimum fame required is.

cupboard cost ~15.5k, mistletoe 3k, reward 12k, net cost of cupboard 6.5k

and i was definitely able to remove from the layout, so i don't know what abesai was talking about.
how long?????

How long does it take the moogle to find the teacup?

I'm Rank 2 with Fame of 5 in Sandy...if that helps

I **** you not, the moogle found the teacup the same day I've put it in. I have max fame in sandy, windurst and bastok, maybe that helps.

I am sad to see you need mistletoe to complete this quest, as it sells for 4.5K and takes off a big chunk of the gil you get back from buying this and doing the quest.

I have been trying to get this answer also, I placed it in my Mog House over 3 week's ago and nothing yet, but I got a rent a room and had it for a week or so it did not start counting days. I have also heard if you rent a room during any of the Mog House (Quest's) then it restarts the time line till you have it in there for a continuous period of time. I know that when you place the Beds in your house it takes one week or a rotation past a Sunday of the week for him to take vacation so I am hoping that it is the same concept but maybe 2 weeks (Real Life) and not 1. I have had the Cupboard in my mog house for a total of 3 Weeks but only a Week of continuous time and past one Sunday and nothing yet. I have kept a time line so as soon as mine finds it I will post a time line for you and all others. ------------------------------------------------> The question I have is I am from Windurst, so will I still be able to get this quest given to me even though I am not from San'D, just curious due to that may be the reason I have not gotten it either. Thanks to all and see you on the server.

Remove items from your Storage, if the number of items you have stored is greater than the space you will have after removing an item of furniture, then it cannot be removed. Just add a few water jugs or take a few items out of storage.

I am in Carbuncle server and I just bought it Monday, Aug 2nd from San'D and it cost me 18K. I am waiting to see how long it takes the Moogle to find the Tea Cup, does anyone know how long it takes for him to find it for the quest. Last but not least I took everything out of my Mog House except my Bed and placed in the Cupboard and there was no Moghancement: Fire, is there a reason why? I put my Water Jugs back and got Moghancement: Fishing, is there a reason I did not get it or do I need to have the Cupboard and Red Jar: For example I put my two Water Jugs in and got "Fishing" if I put two pieces of furniture in for FIRE will I get "Fire", can someone help with this one?

Basically, the furniture with the highest elemental strength will be the one to give you the moghancement. Beds have high elemental strength, so that overrides your Cupboard, and give you Experience moghancement instead of fire. Similarily, two Water Jugs will override your Cupboard again.

I take out my bed when doing fire synthesis, and put it back when leveling up. It's annoying having to go back to my hometown each time, but you have to if you want to change moghancements.

If you read the Moghancement Guide on this site you'll get the full information.

Unexpected Treasure

After your moogle finds the teacup inside the cupboard, go back to the furniture shop and talk to Morunaude. Eventually he'll tell you:

"That cupboard you found was crafted of old. I would love to hear the history behind it. Few pieces of such age and quality remain. Shame on Calovour! Hawkign such a treasure as if it were junk!"

Head over to the Cathedral, and in the main hall (M-6) you'll find Calovour. Talk to him and after some dialogue he'll ask you to bring him a Sprig of Mistletoe. Doing so will result in a short cutscene with storyline, and your reward is 7500 gil.

Edit - The information for the Cupboard listed as of 3/23/04 is incorrect. It adds 2 spaces to storage and is Fire element, not 4 spaces and Water.
