Some goldsmithing skill may be helpful for this. I failed a few times before I could succeed. When I finally made one, my woodworking was at 60 and goldsmithign skill was at 4. During the synth my goldsmithing skill went up .2, even though I thought this was a woodworking object.

A required skill needed to snyth on object can go up even it if is not he primary skill needed.

All furniture USED to hold just one space, but after the patch most can hold more. And they've also added elements to them. :) hopefully this page will be updated soon to show the item after the patch.
