how do you join either the woodworking guild or bonecraft?
#REDACTED, Posted: May 23 2004 at 6:57 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This arrow has really short range. Not recommended for the mere +4 damage againest wood arrow which has longer range.
RE: short range
# Jul 17 2004 at 9:03 PM Rating: Decent
I really don't know what your talking about. I couldn't tell a def. in range between the two and the +4 dmg does make a big differance at that level.

You can buy bone arrows for 3 gil each in Port Windurst at the weapons store....not sure how much they cost to synthesize I haven't tried this yet.

on Kujata, and i am guessing most other servers... the over inflated price of arrowwood lumber make crafting these very expensive.
I'll break down the cost based on current Kujata prices. (everything will be in stacks)

Bone Arrow (33 x 12) = 4 stacks of 99 = 396 total
Earth Crystal 1 x 12(400gil)
Arrowwood Lumb 1 x 12(2,000gil)
Bone Arrowhead 1 x 12(200gil)
Yagudo Fletch 1 x 12(100gil)

Total cost 2,700 gil

price per arrow ~6-7 gil about twice as much as you can buy them from the store. now, if you farm wind crystals and the logs, you can save a TON of money on these, and possibly turn a nice profit. Honestly, you can probably turn a profit off of these in either bastok or sandy as well, as they are only available in windy from an NPC. at AH, they sell anywhere from 900 a stack (windy) to around 1500 a stack in Sandy or Bastok. thats 9 - 15 an arrow. Just check your market, and if you can farm wind crystals and/or logs, this could be a pretty good deal.

why on earth would you buy all the materials? I see that is a major problem most n00bs have in this game. If you spend the time to farm the items necessary which doesn't take too long, you'll realize that you never have to waste gil buying stuff you can make easily. Convenience does come at a price and this game is not for those weak at patience

ah ah...but consider the time it takes to farm the materials...you may be able to farm the gil faster non? it would have to be a carefully calculated assessment, which in itself may take even more time and energy than just buying the materials. Consider also: one person farming materials, crystals, then creating the arrows, then selling them will make more profit per arrow. However, two people, one dedicated to gathering materials, and one to making the items, can make more items at a smaller profit...

Arrowood lumber is cheap to make. Switch to a lvl 1 job and go kill a couple bees outside of town to get a stack of Wind Crystals (1200 shiva). Can farm the crystals in about 15-30 min.

Next, find out who controls the Norvallen Region (Search google for 'ffxi regional merchant guide'). Go to that city and by arrowood logs for 18 gil per log. Wind + Log = Lumber. Arrowood lumber maxes at lvl 2. Just craft it on windsday.

Ash lumber can be made the same way (80/log) from the same merchant. Make this between lvl 2-7. Be sure to do this on Windsday as well. Even if you buy the Wind crystals and then the logs from the merchant, it takes 10 minutes max to make an entire stack of ash lumber with costs of around 2k but it sells for 5k...

Sorry, I forgot to mention it's a Bonecraft(5) item, yields 33 and, more important than the rest, it's a big thanks to TwistidSoul and his marvelous Guild Recipe Guide.

There's another recipe for us Bonecrafters to make these.

1 X Wind Crystal
1 X Arrowwood Lumber
2 X Yagudo Feathers
3 X Bone Chips

It's just that it takes a bit more materials than the other recipe (but less Crystals), and much less Gil in that pesky Woodworking skill if you got up the Bonecraft ladder... like me...

Yagudo fletchings work. Not sure about chocobo. I make these to cover expenses on crystals from synthing fletchings and arrowheads. Arrowwood can be found cheap in San d'Oria!
