This item is listed as a furnishing, but it does not show up on this page: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/dyn/ahitems/5.html

I'd like to see that fixed.
Royal bed
# Aug 30 2005 at 10:42 AM Rating: Default
How much exp does a Royal bed saves when you die?

Bronze Bed = 5%
Mahogany Bed = ???
Noble bed = 15%
Royal Bed = ???

Please, someone, replace my "???" with a number!

And, is that accumulative? For example:
- If i place 5 Bronze Beds in my MH, what happens?
- Bronze Bed x 5 = 50% of exp ????????

Am i wrong? Does it have something to do with Aura stuff or Light Elemental items?? THX! ^^

1) Experience saved when death occurs:
Bronze = 5%
Mahogony = 10%
Noble + Royal = 15%

2) Beds cannot be stacked for more experience saved. So, for example, if you have a bronze, a mahogony and a noble's bed in your MH, you will still only get the experience saved from the noble's bed. No cumulative effect from more than 1 bed.

3) The element of the bed (and of the MH if your bed is the major factor in MH elemental strength) has nothing whatsoever to do with experience saved.

Hope that helps.

You don't get an increase by simply placing more beds. However, if you have moghancement:experience, boost the element of the bed to powerfull (tier 2) or overwhelming(tier 3) for increased effect.

5 X 5 = 25

If you're going to be a jerk at least try to do it correctly; 5 x 5 would be multiplication.

Issue number two, I highly doubt the effect is additive. Were that the case, you could have 25 bronze beds, and GAIN 25% of your total tnl by dying. Also, there'd be no reason to have better beds if you could just buy more bronze beds (except the mog expansion, but you can just sell them afterwards).

You will keep the bigger mog safe if you sell it, but you will lose the Moghancement: Experience.

This or any other item with a mogenhancement MUST be placed into your room in the city you started from via pressing the Layout button when talking to your mog. You also have to have the item be in your mog safe and not your posession.

this goes around 80k~ (ragnarok), i think it is worth to give it a shot, and, btw, you will get a mogu-quest, for 10 more spaces in your moghouse. If you have storage problems, dont doubt it, buy it.
take care

I believe this activates when the regional points are retallied. So the first retally after you place the bed in your mog house should trigger the quest. ^_^ Confirm or dispute this if you find the results to be contrary.

mahogany bed saves you 10% of exp loss when you die, same goes for bronze bed. If i were to put lets say 1 mahogany bed and 9 bronze bed(10 total), does that mean i will save 100% of exp loss when i die?

nvm

no, it is not cumulative like that. but theoretically if you get the aura to go from faint to stronger than faint, it will enhance the moghancement further.

In regards to when the Mog Quests come up, I think it's the sunday (real time) after you first place your bed, if your fame is high enough.

I've only done it with the first quest though. Have to test it again when I have enough gil to do the second quest.
Quest Activation?

Question: How Long do i have to wait for the quest to begin. Me and my friend bought the Monhagany Bed (spelt wrong), two day's ago and still haven't got the secong mog safe quest, i know the first one seemed to take awhile for the mog to return with the new safe, but i don't remember having to wait for the mog to ask for the quest items. Am i missing something or doing something wrong? P.S. i still have my old bed in my house, can that be affecting the quest even though the MH glow did change from dark to light?

Every time I've done a mog safe quest it has activated on a Sunday, and I get the safe itself the day after I give Mog the items.

Also, I believe there are certain fame requirements. I did the first one at level 4 fame, and the second at level 7.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2004 at 11:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Further down, someone made a statement about Raise II only affecting level 50+. That's garbage. Sorry for the off-topic post here, but where do you GET that information? did a JP tell you? cuz we all know that they know EVERYTHING in the game, right?

Did you bother to check how much EXP Raise II returns to a level 11 compared to Raise I?

That's what the omniscient JP mean... Raise II will work, but it will only return as much exp as a Raise I.
RE: Raise II. get your facts right
# Dec 20 2004 at 4:08 AM Rating: Decent
Not true. The difference just isn't a big one.

Example:

Say you die and lose 240 XP. Raise will give back 25% of that, or 60, while Raise II will give back 75% of that, or 180. The difference is merely that of a single battle, and insignificant. There IS a difference, though, and some would rather forego the extra battle.

On the other hand, if you lose 2000 XP, Raise gives back 500 and Raise II 1500, or about six or seven (maybe eight) battles. THAT is a saver.

The only Raise that's good for everyone is Raise III, which gives back 99%. That obviously is dramatic m\no matter how you look at it.

Regarding the issue of moghancement experience:

After checking out Popsi's moghancement guide, of the three main beds(Bronze, Mahogany, and Noble,) bronze has the least "aura". However, the difference is so slight that two bronze beds equal one noble bed and more than one mahogany bed. And it is a lot cheaper too.

That is my belief on why people notice a difference on experience between the beds. It is not the bed but the aura it admits that affects it.

So if you placed 17 bronze beds you would have overwhelming mog experience compared to 9 noble beds or 10 mahogany beds. However the price of 17 bronze beds equals maybe one and half noble beds, if that. I believe that bronze bed is your most affective per your dollar.

Hope this helps some.

You don't have to place 17 beds. All you need is 1 bed, and enough furniture of the same element.
Just make sure your moghancement isn't replaced. The more your bed costs, the less likely it is to get overwritten.

Beds take up a lot of room, so I'm not even sure you CAN place 17 :)

exp save rate
# Aug 16 2004 at 11:57 PM Rating: Decent
the exp you save is does NOT coorelate with what bed you have but what the strength of the light you have of an element in your mog house. if it is a faint light, the exp you save will be the same. there is a wonderfulthing... called...RESEARCH! try it sometime ;c) here's a link to help...

when i say the light, i'm not reffering to light energy. notice when your mog says your house has a faint wind aura or whatever. the variable in this would be where he says "faint" when that changes levels, so will the exp you save.

Thanks for the link. I did do some checking around and I talked with high lvls on my server and they told me that the amount of energy has nothing to do with the XP loss, it's the bed.
I did notice from the Mahongany bed to the Nobles bed I did loose less XP (with the beds only).

If you are saying it has to do with the light energy, that would be for the Mahogany bed, does this mean for the Nobles bed I would have to put in Lightning more lightning energy to decrease it even more?

Has anyone tried this? Putting in a Nobles bed, checking xp loss and then filling you mh up with lightning energy and checking xp loss.

The bed itself is roughly 50,000 gil. The items you need to buy for your moogle are roughly 5,000 gil at AH. After he returns from his picnic and gives you your 10 extra slots, you can resell the bed.

Basically, if you think 5k is a good price for 10 extra items of storage, go ahead and do the quest. Keep in mind that you'll be spending ~50,000 or more gil doing the first 2 gobbiebag quests, none of which is recoverable, and results in the same 10 extra items you can hold.

I personally would recommend getting the second storage enhancement, then selling the bed and either using that money to do gobbie bag quests, or just saving for the remaining ~50,000 gil or so for the Noble's Bed quest.

ummm .... the bed goes for 50-80k on remora. and there isn't a gobbie bag quest that you can do for less than 100k. remora is ran by the GS'ers i think. *grumble* *grumble*

Is there a difference between the Mahogany Bed and the Bronze bed in regards to EXP loss?

Earlier in this thread someone said the bronze bed says 10% and someone else said the Mahogany Bed saves 10%.

Thanks

this saves you around 10% of the exp. you would have loss from dying.

Example:

level 58 TNL is 20,000, dying always makes you lose 10% of TNL(2,000). Instead of losing 2,000 you would lose 1,800. Of course getting a raise makes things more complicated =P Raise1= 25% loss back, raise2= 75% exp loss back, raise 3 90% exp loss back. (you have to be 50+ for raise 2 and 3 to effect you)

[b]Mahogany Bed = 10% exp loss recovered
Nobles Bed = 15% exp loss recovered

Obviously, it's going to be different not only on each server, but in the different AHs in the cities. However, I would estimate it to be between 40k and 60k overall.

Right now in Midgardsormr, you can get it for approx 45-50k. Also note that the best times to buy the beds (this applies to all of them) is around Tuesday-Thursday, in general. There is always a rush at the end of the week (to make the Sunday conquest restatement deadline), and early monday, the price hasn't dropped yet. It generally goes down a few thousand by wednesday (ish).

Good luck!
low exp loss from bed even without the mogenhancement?
# Apr 29 2004 at 5:34 PM Rating: Default
I bought one of these, and I like it alot. However, I don't show the mogenhancement experience from it. Since I have many plants in my house, and some tables I have the mogenhancement gardening. STILL I only lost 100exp when I died recently. Since I died as a lvl 24 whm, this is pretty good I think.

I think a test in the name of research would really benifit you. Try a level 10 job, go die twice noting xp loss with HP.

Then remove your maple tables, try it again. note xp loss with homepoint. Make sure you don't level down.

I put one in my MH today for the Picnic quest, and was happily surprised to get Moghancement:Experience. Dunno exactly what % this does or wether it's to Exp or Loss, but it sure beats Moghancement:Fishing which I had before. heh

Items in MH when I got MH:Exp are:
-Mahogany Bed
-Workbench
-Chest 2x
-Wastebasket (Selbina quest)
-Tarutaru Stool
-Flower Stand
-Stationary Set (Windy quest)
-Ancient Blood (Painting from Windy quest)

Not sure which combination is required to make this happen, but I'm not experimenting to find out either. ;)
