We were doing skillups last nite there in hopes to get the larva, and ended up getting two. So we let the NIN and THF have them. When in, beat the heck out of this nm bee twice with 5 party setup and got the daggers. I would recomend clearing out the room first as this was more a task than killing the nm.
I just hope the larva drops that easy when I need this dagger for my thf.

This dagger is super sweet, getting it was no problem but getting the Bee Larvae to spawn the NM was a bi*** it seems that we killed over 150+ bees maybe even more. I had a thf with me also and the larvae just sucks.

Just got this dagger tonight. I killed Wespe's with a 60WHM friend of mine for about 2 hours with no luck. That damn larvae wouldn't drop. Eventually a level 69 THF came by and offered to help out of the blue. We got the drop in about a half hour and killed the Death From Above. He was rather easy with the THF tanking, it could hardly hit him.
Afterwords I tested it out on a few more Wespe's, and man is it nice. With haste on I never stopped moving. The damage isn't all that good compared to other daggers, but being a RDM if I add an enspell to it the change is very noticable.

Omg Danielson, we named our characters the SAME thing, and we r both Mithra, spooky. I'm Skadi, a mithra rdm (lvl 59 atm) on the Ifrit server, and I use a beestinger. I assume ur on Bahamut with a Hornet Needle (damn u ^_~). Do u use it in pts or when soloing? Kinda funny, lotsa ppl on Ifrit send me tells asking how I got a hornet needle... they say Skadi on allakazham has one.. which is YOU ^^ heehee this is so exciting n_n

Yeah I use the Hornet Needle when Soloing usually. Right now at 64, Accuracy is huge for a THF since Dancing Edge's accuracy is based on your TP so using HN isn't up to par anymore. I switched back to using a Bone Knife +1 in my offhand for its +5 attk +5 acc.

I would very much enjoy having one of these for efficient farming, quick weapon enhancement sword damage (even with + attack and a good sword, my magic enhancements always do more damage than the hit itself on EXP enemies IT and IT+), and most of all for the fun to be had whilst equipping this AND my Beestinger. Add a fencer's ring to the mix? Oh my! I just wonder if, since the description says "Sword enhancement spell damage + 5," it will still work with a dagger as well. Can anyone confirm this? ^^

I am online a good bit as Marusha on Midgardsormr. Right now I am taking a break from EXP to farm, finish AF (done eccept for Castle Oztroja!), and raise some craft skills. Though I will do my best to coerce some higher level LS comrades, I highly doubt anyone I know will jump for joy to go kill something in Uggalepih that can hit them for 900 damage.

This is pretty good for redmages. Haste + this dagger + EN- spells. 10-12 damage per hit isn't bad for 1 sec every hit.
Delay 100 = 1 sec
Delay 150 = 1.5 sec
Delay 254 = 2.54 sec
every 100 delay = 1 sec.
Delay 100 = 1 sec
Delay 150 = 1.5 sec
Delay 254 = 2.54 sec

A 74 WHM and a 58 THF/NIN can duo it... barely.

I finally got the larvae. It was a ***** to get.
I went with a pary of 5x61 and me (51THF) on the first trip and cleared (I think) 6-8 rounds of spawns. 10 mobs per round total... thats like 60-80 wespes. We didn't get a single larvae. I've been going back in my spare time with a 61 whm friend. Whm subbed bst and charmed either wespes or opo-opos and we only killed the 4 entrance spawns. We were able to keep the 4 entrance wespes cleared. We've been going at it a few hours a night for like a week now and I finally got the drop. 4ish hours per night times 5 days with 4 mobs on the standard repop timer of 8? min. gonna use 10 for easy math. thats.... over 500 kills.

On the plus side, my evasion was at 130something and now its at 155.

Would this replace Calv.'s Dagger, the low delay and 1 to but dex and agi is nice. please let me no ^_^
Okay I got this dagger last night during a Linkshell raid. Here is how it went down:
We camped at the very front entrance of the Temple of Uggalepih. There we killed Wespes, which drop the Rare/Ex item you need. Wespes are bee type mobs which use Final Sting, which can do upwards of 800 dmg. We killed all of them in the area, and then after that we took other mobs to skill up on. The second set of Wespes started to respawn and the first one we killed from the second set dropped the Bee Larvae. Since we had gotten it so quickly and had enough fire power to kill the NM we decided to go to the room that ??? is used to spawn Death from Above.
How to get to the room:
It is the same room where the Drg AF3 is spawned. Since you are camping at the zone, getting to the room is very easy. Follow the path all the way until you come to a T in the path, take a left turn and proceed all the way until you come to a box shaped room with a door on your right. The door on your right is the correct room. I reccommend that your entire party bring Prism powders to invis themselves. Have a high level open the door and proceed into the room. Inside the room there are 3 Tonberries, 4 crawlers, 3-4 Wespes, and a Doll Mob. Clear out the room and head over the little bridge. The ??? you are looking for is the one on the far left as you enter the room. Buff up and heal to full MP, when you are all ready, pop the NM by trading the Bee larvae to the ???.
Death From Above:
He is a Bee NM that is popped using the Bee Larvae obtained from killing Wespes. He is a Bee type that uses all Bee type skills. He did not use Final Sting against my party. He did however use Pollen to recover hitpoints. We killed him fairly quickly and even had a Tonberry Aggro us. The Samurai's Meditated and spammed thier weaponskills, and I was using a sword. It wasn't too hard.
The Dagger drops everytime you kill the NM. Lot on Hornetneedle and warp out, or kill it a second time if you have more than one Bee Larvae in the Party. I would reccommend killing all the mobs that respawn before killing the NM again.
The Dagger Itself:
Very, very, very quick. It is amazing to see this dagger in action. It is perfectly paired with my Corsairs knife which has a high delay. The stats are perfect for Thief, and should allow my TP gain to leap forward, allowing me to Skillchain more often in fights. If you are on the Fenrir server and need some help with the quest, or want to see the dagger in action send me a /tell, I'll be glad to help out.
My Party Setup:
57 Thief/Ninja (Me)
73 Samurai/Warrior (Tanked, due to hate gained from Weaponskills)

I spotted this dagger on another player and decided i should look it up, looks nice, also - there are as far as i know only three daggers with a delay of 150, this, and the two following

I got this the other night. It took a few hrs of killing bees to get the damned Bee Larva to drop, which reminds me, I shoulda took a pic of the item since it was ex/rare.
So this is basically how you get the the dagger:
-- Kill Wespes in the Temple
-- Get the Bee Larva drop from the Wespes
-- Trade the Larva to the ??? to spawn the NM Death From Above. (sorry don't know the position)
-- Kill the NM
-- Get the Dagger drop, I think it's a 100% drop too.

Zigrah, when have u been on the Ifrit server? That is the server I'm on, my character is Skadi, she's a mithra rdm who uses a Beestinger. I NEED Hornet Needle. Anyways, I like hearing my name heard, thx Zigrah, luv ya ^^ Btw, Beestinger/Hornet Needle + Haste + Enspell = fun fun. I melee as rdm so I can watch for Dispel, I do 0 damage, but I liek hearing my enblizzard go off ^^
Lol its an awesome dagger, I might retire it pretty soon since I get Chicken Knife at 58.
This dagger is not best for RDM. It's best for a THF/NIN's off hand, because of it's short delay the THF/NIN can gain TP much faster.
solo for farming or nm hunting rdm/nin with this and a beestinger. 150 delay each ( speed cap). With en- spells its pretty impressive dmg. thats only 300 delay total before dual wield bonus to speed and before haste. Imagine the speed :)
I think this is probably best for RDMs - they can't hit too hard and often times their En-spell damage is more than the actual hit, so this allows them to get more of those in. Combine it with the Fencer's Ring and you've got some decent damage there.
Do keep in mind that while it is rather fast, for the level the damage is pretty low. I have found that you will want to do as much damage as possible as at the higher levels you will at times even with food hit for 0 damage even with better daggers. Also it lowers the damage you do with sneak/trick attacks as well.
On the bright side, if you do manage to hit for damage every time it will help build TP a bit faster for more frequent sneak/trick/WS so its all a relative thing I guess. Just something else to think about.

Just keep in mind, you don't gain TP if you hit for zero damage.

Ok my JP friend, who speaks VERY good english helped me get this item, i consider what i did a "quest".
First you have to find a safe area where you can kill the bees called "Wespe", Easy Prey to Lv 63, And i say Safe area, because tonberrys....OOoooOOO,(an EAsy Prey to Lv 63 took 900HP away from my friend,in 1 hit, who was Lv 74). Theres a Rare/EX items the bees drop.
Sorry, i would have to log on to get you exact name. take this Item to the other entrance of Temple, which can only be gotten to, from entering from the bottom floor and passing all da Tonberrys. Trade this item to the ??? at the end of passage, spawns a pretty Tough Bee. Always drops Hornet Needle. the Bee does Final Sting, which is like kamikazi, killed my JP friend. :( strange, because my JP friend said "i guess its payback from pearl harbor." i said "no comment....."

ive seen a thf with this dagger so yes thf can equip
i've seen 2 different thieves with one. it must be ex because it is not in the AH - probable rare too.

I saw a rdm with this equipped, I wanted it for myself so i decided to check out how to get it on here. It can be used by thf and it is rare and exclusive.
