I fish these on the boat from Mahura, about few other cast I pull in a NM fish, "Gugru Orobon", "Northern Piranu" or "Southern Piranu". Real Pain.

I tried breaking a mithran fishing rod for the Opo-opo crown quest catching these fish. The rod WOULD NOT BREAK and I ended up catching 30-some gugru tunas, all of which said "you have a terrible feeling about this" or "you're positive you don't have enough skill to catch this"

After that I finally found a broken mithran pole on the AH but have been fishing up tuna ever since with my original mithran fishing pole that still won't break.

if you want to break your rod, you need to get the message "you have a bad feeling about this". If you get this message, you can break your line and lose your bait/lure, or break your rod

actually, you can break your rod on anything except "you have a good feeling about this one", i know, i've done it on "you don't know if you have the skill" damn fish >.>

omg... I found out why. All this time I thought I was pulling a mob and cancelled it. The tune for a big fish is same as that for a mob. I feel such a noob.

Hard time fishing
# Sep 10 2005 at 7:58 AM Rating: Decent
I am L27 fishing and have a real tough time pulling these up with a comp. rod and minnow/sinking minnow. Most of the times I am pulling up either a monster, a fish that fights like crazy or I manage to get it but I get "fish was too small for this rod" messages (I am assuming these are Noble Ladies pulling on the bait), very rarely I get one that has an incredibly slow stamina depletion which I think is the legendary fish, or the best one yet... Cone Calamary. >< Been fishing for hours and not got a single tuna and very few nibbles on the calamarys.

I find it odd of ALL the fish, this is one that I as a mithra cannot eat. /cry

Just to note. I had no status icons, and it clearly was the 'you cannot eat this' message.

STRONG word of caution for anyone looking to level their fishing skill to 41 on Gugru Tuna:

You WILL break any rod often fishing for this due to high level fish that bite the same bait, so either go with plenty of light crystals and a big fish rod u can repair, or don't skill off this fish! I broke 2 composite rods and lost 2 minnows as a result in 30 minutes of fishing and only caught 4 tunas at 35 fishing skill, with a full set of Angler's Armor, fishing at First Quarter Moon on the Selbina-Mhaura ferry. Luckily my LS mate is a 90 Alchemist and fixed them for me :)

What kind of bait can I use to catch these, and what kind of rod would be best?
RE: Bait
# Jan 11 2005 at 7:19 AM Rating: Decent
I used a composite and a sinking minnow. I caught two in a row on the ship to selbina. O yea, and my fishing skill was only at 7.5 at the time. The third time, i got a catch, but my rod broke.>< I got 0.3 skill up points from the breakage tho!

When you catch one it will have numbers at the bottom. I asked a high level player on the selbina-mhaura ferry, and he said that it was the fishes size. He didnt say what the size was for, does anyone know?

It's the length and weight of the fish, the person in Mhuhra who tells you your fishing history tells you how many times you have cast your rod, how many times you have caught something and the biggest fish you have caught all in exachange for a Gugru Tuna!

I noticed the size of the fish in the description box and didn't know what it was for for a while. After doing some research, I found that the size of the fish is reported when that particular fish is the "Turn In" fish for the Pelican Ring tourny in Selbina. When the "Turn in" fish changes, you will notice that the fishes size will be removed from that fish and the new fish item will will have a size there. Now I may be wrong cause im not 100% sure but it is the only thing I can think of that would record the size..
