Hahahahah - You guys cry alot. Stonega II - FTW! Quest your Warp II scroll, and go farm up some scrolls on another job if you really don't think you can afford to buy the spells. It's not just the scrolls that are pricey, it's the gear too. I get all the spells i can get within a 10 level range. Meaning, when I was level 1, I have all the spells i could learn up until level 10. and 10, I had level 11-20 spells, etc.. The only thing I am lacking is gear. I'm currently a level 50 BLM - I opted for the Ice Staff over the Dark Staff right now, in moderation, you shouldn't be resting that much anyway. Though I'll probably break down and get one anyway. I have mostly Seers gear still, some +1 like the Seers head gear thing, and magna gloves and feet, with seers pants. Wisdom rings, shaman's belt, Morion Tathlum and am borrowing some cunning earrings from my brother who "retired" his BLM.

The Tier II spells aren't that expensive. And another reason they're expensive, is 1) Stonega II is dropped off an NM, or 2) The Quest to get it is a pain in the butt. Such as Warp II. Drain and Aspir aren't hard, but it requires fame. So do yourself a favor, get a bunch of rabbit hides or Bat Wings and trade them to NPCs. It's not that hard. Stop crying, and start farming. Otherwise, maybe BLM isn't for you.

as a taru blm, soon as you start reaching the element IIs there is a real crunch. the spells range from 5k to 30k. now i dont have that much and i only plan on having stone, water and fire II right up till 51. yet all the Lv 3 and 4 element spells are so cheap its crazy. wtf is up with that? square should lower the prices so it is'nt so damn hard for us blm to actualy buy them.

the difference is that the element IIs are ONLY available to buy at shops, and element III are available from drops.
And since they kinda drop often... and since the demand for those scrolls are kinda low.. means they are cheap :)

while I would agree that the tier II spells are ridiculously expensive, I would also say that little plan to 51 is an awful one. you're not gonna buy blizzard II when most of the mobs you'll be fighting are weak to ice, AND most of the chains you'll be bursting are distortion? that's an awful idea. and if those spells are a problem for you now, then at 51 you're gonna have it even rougher, because then you minimally need ice and dark staffs (about 400k combined). It's at about level 40 where blm's realize how easy they've had it thusfar... yet gimp blm's like yourself have this attitude that they're above paying the cost of spells.

I could not agree more. It is a crunch going through all the lvl II spells. But you will cheat yourself and your party by not having ALL of your spells. Even the aga's are important. I can tell you how many times I had to burst with an aga instead of the level II spell on the account that I still had to wait to cast them and the fact the the skillchain does not allways go at the time you want it too. Its a dangerous practice bursting with aga if your in a tight area but a must to keep the pt alive and going by killing the mob quick. However if you know what your doing then it is not a problem =P. If you find that you cant afford spells for your blm...then you need to find some way of making some gil then. Dont put yourself and your pt in the grips of death due to your own laziness.
