Which one

Which Staff is better for a WHM/SMN, the Light staff or the Dark Staff?

As cool as I would like to be by carrying both with me that's not gonna happen ^.^

you really need both but I'd opt for the Dark staff first because the MP regen I cannot put a price on

'Needing' both is a LIE. They are exceptional pieces of equipment but I'm not about to kick a competent WHM out of my group for not having this or the light staff. I didn't even buy mine until 64 and my parties never struggled to get xp chain #5, even in link-frenzied zones like teriggan.

As to which is more valuable to a white mage in the long-run, I'd say Dark Staff. Having as full a tank of MP as possible is critical to the pace at which your party can pull in mobs.

In recognition of this, and the fact that any job with MP wants these [RDM, BLM, SMN] of course, Dark Staves are much more expensive than White Staves (on the order of 40-50K).

To heal from 0 to full MP without food (893) takes about 3:50 without the staff. With it, it takes 3:15. The time saved is a mere 35 seconds, but over time it adds up. Highly recommended, especially since the prices have dropped drastically of late.

I finally managed to pick up one of these suckers today (Caitsith, 300k). It's awesome. 28 MP on the first tick of resting is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Highly recommended for all casters.
Heh.

The JP word for this staff is ƒ_[ƒNƒXƒ^ƒbƒt I believe
From what I can gather from JP site this staff is player crafted, you need Dark Ore from BCNM60 along with some Ebony Material. I think a 75 skilled Carpenter is needed..

Here a link that has it listed and I think it includes the skill required to make it.
